[Bug 1702407] Re: Startup crash after upgrading to 59.0.3071.109 on xenial

2017-07-06 Thread Olivier Tilloy
@Lonnie: as soon as technically possible (this might be early next
week). Have you tested the packages in the PPA? Could you confirm
whether they solve the issue for you? The more confirmations we get from
individual testers, the more confidence we can have in the validity of
the patch, which means it will be delivered as an update sooner.

Re: [Bug 1698772] Re: package clamav-base 0.99.2+dfsg-6 failed to install/upgrade: package is in a very bad inconsistent state; you should reinstall it before attempting a removal

2017-07-06 Thread Bernard Cayeux
Hi Andreas,

I realised I was incomplete in my answer yesterday.

The installations that stall are those initiated via the software
manager, not via apt-get.

Additional information
After restarting, the software manager says it (ClamAv) is installed but
I cannot configure it because it's not fully installed. So we are back
to square one except that updates seem to install completely. (I'm
waiting for new ones to be available before being able to confirm this.)

Have a nice day,

With best regards

Bernard

For now assigning to myself to test/verify the fix and making sure no
other spends cycles on it if there is no need to yet.

[Bug 1702823] [NEW] Systemd fails to serialize tasks correctly on daemon-reload

2017-07-06 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
Public bug reported:

Hi,
I was initially tracking down a libvirt bug [1], but happened to realize it is
actually a general systemd issue.
>From there I got to file, discuss and test [2].

For now I file the bug to be ablte to do my tests correctly, but if it
really fixes the issue I'd like to suggest to fix it in the release - so
better file upfront and do even my test patches right.

[Bug 1677552] Re: CPU hot unplug fails after migrating a CPU hotplugged guest from source

2017-07-06 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
Daniel, thanks for bringing those upstream.
I haven't had any problems since I'll tackle them along with the qemu merge for
Artful.
Aligning those with other tasks and PTO means it will take a bit longer to get
to them.

OTOH adding the patches to current qemu just to throw them away a few
weeks later when merging the newer version would be kind of pointless.

2017-07-06 Thread Olivier Tilloy
@Björn: that crash on zesty, did it have a similar backtrace?

Regarding that debian bug, the media router component extension is
indeed disabled by default on chromium, but we have a patch to re-enable
it, and it seems to work well: http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~chromium-

[Bug 1702813] [NEW] Screen rotates 90 degrees after approx. 2 hour user session.

2017-07-06 Thread juz
Public bug reported:

Pkg version: iio-sensor-proxy 2.2-0ubuntu1

My system: Hewlett-Packard HP ENVY m6 Notebook PC/18A5, BIOS F.25
OS: Dual boot. Primary HDD Win 8.1, SSD UbuntuGNOME 17.04 (via DVD drive slot
adapter).

Problem. After around 2-3 hours (for any user session), the Primary
screen will black out for a second, then return rotated 90 degrees anti-
clockwise. The only solution is to kill x and start again. (note also
that system will hang on shutdown and sometimes suspend, dmesg errors
pointing to iio-sensor-proxy process holding up.- will report this
seperately, but it's likely that the problems are linked)

There are a lot of reports on other forums about DNS leaks specific to
17.04.

Once again I upgraded to Ubuntu and have found myself regretting it.
There is always some poorly thought out decision or bug that destroys my
confidence in this software.

[Bug 1701731] Re: phpLDAPadmin <= 1.2.3 'entry_chooser.php' Multiple Cross-Site Scripting

2017-07-06 Thread Seth Arnold
Hello Ismail, thanks for taking on this task.

There's a few small things that I'd like changed before we sponsor this:

- Since Ubuntu doesn't really have package 'maintainers', there's no need to
point out it's a non-maintainer upload
- We like the security updates to all have consistent formatting as described
on: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SecurityTeam/UpdatePreparation#Update_the_packaging
- We like the patches to have DEP-3 tags to indicate at least where the patch
came from, so future readers can verify patches independently. (While DEP-3 is
kind of complicated and involved, it's basically just adding Subject: with
something short and descriptive and Origin: with a link to the patch.) The full
DEP-3 guide is at http://dep.debian.net/deps/dep3/ but don't feel compelled to
read it unless I did a poor job describing it here.

Could you submit a new patch with these items fixed up?

Thanks

[Bug 1702792] Re: Installation on ppc64le stuck when trying to setup LVM

2017-07-06 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1702792/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

Copying the script is probably fine for now. I still intend to look at
this, hopefully in the next month or so. It's been relatively low on my
list, since LTS releases are my main priority.

2017-07-06 Thread Doug McMahon
Public bug reported:

This way once a user pairs & connects a bluetooth speaker device pulseaudio
will auto switch to it.
As it stands now users have to open sound settings & switch manually. It's bad
enough that auto discover & connect don't work, (can be scripted thru
bluetoothctl), no sense adding to frustration

[Bug 1702792] [NEW] Installation on ppc64le stuck when trying to setup LVM

2017-07-06 Thread Guilherme Tiaki Sato
Public bug reported:

I’am using Ubuntu 16.04 Netboot installer.

During the disk partitioning:

I have two disks, create an empty partition table on both and set both
to be used entirely as physical volume for LVM.

Select "Configure the Logical Volume Manager".
Create a volume group using the two disks.
Create two logical volumes: one 8MB and the other using the rest of the space.
Finish configuring LVM.

Set the first logical volume "Use as" to "Use the partition as a PowerPC
PReP boot partition".

This is followed by an error screen (attached).

After this I get stuck in the partitioning and can no longer continue
the installation or change the partitioning.

[Bug 1585153] Re: postinst fails: configure-symlinks missing even though mysql-common appears installed

2017-07-06 Thread Matthew H McKenzie
I'm getting this too. Google is ranking this search.
/usr/share/mysql-common contains only the "internal-use-only" directory.

We somehow had
http://mariadb.mirror.digitalpacific.com.au/repo/10.2/ubuntu xenial/main
amd64 as the source. (10.2.6+maria~xenial)

Commenting this out for "stock" 5.7.18-0ubuntu0.16.04.1 helped.

[Bug 1702785] [NEW] High memory and "can't fork" on heavy long-lived cron daemon

2017-07-06 Thread Ryan Finnie
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 14.04.5 LTS, cron 3.0pl1-124ubuntu2

On a server with heavy cron use (a few thousand entries across cron.d /
users, several runs per second, a few dozen forks running at any given
time), cron will creep up in memory usage. Last I saw was 6GB RSS, at
which point it will start doing:

Jul 6 07:01:27 host cron[21699]: (CRON) error (can't fork)

Not all runs will fail, but this trend will continue until cron is
restarted.
