[Bug 1637733] Re: freeze on login with prime-select intel
I experienced a similar situation with a fresh installation of Ubuntu Gnome on Dell XPS 15. I didn't install virtual box. Details about my computer: Processor: Intel® Core™ i7-7700HQ CPU @ 2.80GHz Graphics: GeForce GTX 1050/PCIe/SSE2 Driver: Nvidia binary driver version 384.90; Processor microcode from intel-microcode(proprietary) After running "prime-select intel" and log out, I couldn't log in again. When I tried to log in, the screen just blanked out and got back to log in screen after a few seconds. After I run "prime-select nvidia" in tty to restore settings, I can log in. The solution on #11 didn't work for me. It successfully shut down the graphics, but I couldn't open GUI anymore and had to reboot to power up the graphics. However, I did find some workaround if you just want to reduce the power consumption. Instead of shutting down the graphics, you may constrain the clock rate by using this method: https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topic/572053/linux/-solved-forcing- maximum-power-saving-on-the-desktop-quot-minimum-power-quot-mode-for- powermizer-/ It worked on my computer and helped me to get rid of the annoying sound from GPU fan. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1637733 Title: freeze on login with prime-select intel To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/lightdm/+bug/1637733/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1721903] Re: nvidia-384 driver causes immediate suspension upon login & subsequent system hang with blank screen
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1721903/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. [Bug 1721902] [NEW] Bluetooth hangs ~1m after connecting to Bose headset
Public bug reported: I have a set of Bose bluetooth headphones here (annoyingly they don't have any model identification on them - they're the big over-ear ones, maybe called Quiet Comfort?). After pairing them, they work (mostly) fine, including switching between HSP/A2DP mode, for about a minute. After about a minute they stop working, and anything which was using them (bluez, the gnome-control- centre “Sound” tab) hangs. This appears to be a firmware bug - at the time that they stop working, a firmware debugging message is dumped into dmesg: [ 613.938660] iwlwifi :6e:00.0: Queue 10 is active on fifo 1 and stuck for 1 ms. [Bug 1721896] [NEW] Black Screen/Crashes with Resume from Kernel
Public bug reported: Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with Ubuntu resuming from suspend. Every time I resume from suspend my computer either crashes or creates a black screen. The issue happens intermittently and doesn't happen at every suspend. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. But when it does, my monitor fails to establish a connection to my GPU and the computer restarts after a few seconds. The problem happened ever since I installed my new nVidia Geforce GTX 1080 Ti GPU and my AMD FX-8350 CPU into my computer within the same week. I'm thinking it's because my GPU is too new for the kernels/nVidia drivers but I'm not 100% sure. It seems to happen when I have Google Chrome and other processes still running while I suspend to RAM. I filled out the questions in an attachment at the bottom of https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelSuspend. You'll find the attachment named questionnaire.txt. The rest of the files are dmesg outputs from testing the suspends. Feel free to let me know if you need any more information. ** Affects: linphone (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Attachment added: "Questionnaire (Start here)" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1721896/+attachment/4964045/+files/questionnaire.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1721896 Title: Black Screen/Crashes with Resume from Kernel To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linphone/+bug/1721896/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1721216] Re: package sudo 1.8.16-0ubuntu1.5 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed pre-removal script returned error exit status 1
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The sudo and sudo-ldap packages are alternative versions of sudo, one with a more minimal set of library dependencies to reduce attack surfaces, and the other supporting an expanded set of features that some environments desire or need. Your system should only have one or the other installed, in this case likely the regular 'sudo' package. Reinstalling sudo is most likely the correct course of action here. The USN references both packages to ensure that users of either version apply the update to get the security fixes. In most cases, if you do not have the package listed in the USN installed, it does not apply to you (linux kernel updates are a primary exception to this, due to how the packaging is constructed that results in new packages being pulled in). The best solution is to use the update-manager tool or apt-get dist- upgrade to install security updates, not attempt to apply them piecemeal, as one is likely to overlook something and leave themselves exposed. ** Changed in: sudo (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid ** Information type changed from Private Security to Public Security -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1721216 Title: package sudo 1.8.16-0ubuntu1.5 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed pre-removal script returned error exit status 1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sudo/+bug/1721216/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1662031] Re: Switching language and format broken
I added a FOOBAR variable to both ~/.pam_environment and /etc/default/locale, with different values in each file, and after logging in the value is the one from ~/.pam_environment. So I don't think gdm sources /etc/default/locale after ~/.pam_environment. However variables LANG, LANGUAGE and LC_* appear to be overridden by the values in /etc/default/locale, and set_up_session_language() in daemon/gdm- session.c (https://git.gnome.org/browse/gdm/tree/daemon/gdm- session.c#n2488) looks suspicious in that regard. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1662031 Title: Switching language and format broken To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-gnome/+bug/1662031/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1720842] Re: USB Keyboard "Masione VMJ-02" ID 1c4f:0056 SiGma Micro: Ctrl / Super / Alt incorrectly recognized as L-Shift
I was just sitting down to figure out how to write a device driver, and when I loaded the usbmon module and fired up wireshark the keyboard started behaving. The first few keys were captured with the "modified" keycodes that the usbhid driver doesn't recognize properly, then it seems to have switched into "normal" mode and behaved like a regular usb keyboard. I tried it on two computers with the same result, i.e. sudo modprobe usbmon, sudo wireshark "fixes" the problem for some strange reason. Now if only I could figure out how to trigger the mode switch in a less annoying way that would be great. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1720842 Title: USB Keyboard "Masione VMJ-02" ID 1c4f:0056 SiGma Micro: Ctrl / Super / Alt incorrectly recognized as L-Shift To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1720842/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
