[Bug 1729695] Re: ASCII decode error, but not due to filenames in backup target
Ubuntu 17.04 was fresh installed in early July 2017, and I've since upgraded to 17.10 (I did not fresh install 17.10). I did not reconfigure Deja Dup before or after that upgrade. When I did the fresh install and then set up the backup, I already had a backup directory on the secondary drive that my previous Ubuntu install had been using. But, I never configured this install to use that same directory; I've used a new directory with a different name from the get- go. So that shouldn't matter. Looking in the backup directory, the oldest file is dated August 2, 2017. And under scheduling I have Deja Dup configured to keep at least six months, so I think that date is the real date I first configured the backup. I have not tried configuring Deja Dup to use a new storage location since this problem started occuring. Should I try that? Also, I should note that the backup window shows the message "Creating a fresh backup to protect against backup corruption. This will take longer than normal." Wouldn't this mean that Deja Dup is not trying to create an incremental backup on top of what was backed up in Ubuntu 17.04? ** Changed in: deja-dup (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1729695 Title: ASCII decode error, but not due to filenames in backup target To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/deja-dup/+bug/1729695/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1730150] [NEW] Nautilus unable to see the storage in my Fuji HS30EXR PTP canera since upgrading from Ubuntu 17.04 to 17.10
Public bug reported: What happens: Something appears to have changed in Nautilus after Nautilus version 1:3.20.4-0ubuntu2 (as in Ubuntu 17.04) and by version 1:3.26.0.0ubuntu1 (as in Ubuntu 17.10)*, causing the storage on my USB PTP camera (a Fujifilm HS30EXR) not to be visible to Nautilus when the camera is connected to the computer via USB and switched on. (Camera firmware was updated and the camera retested on two Ubuntu 17.10 computers) What is expected to happen: On my remaining Ubuntu 17.04 computer (and earlier versions) the camera always pops up in the Nautilus left-hand sidebar when the camera is connected via USB and switched on. To reproduce the bug: 1. Launch "Files" from the Dock 2. Connect a Fujifilm HS30EXR camera (WITH an SD card installed) via USB 3. Observe if camera can be browsed in Nautilus. What is still working: Three other cameras were tested and found not to have this problem with Nautilus: Acorn Ltl5310A (with SD card storage), Nikon P340 (SD card) and Olympus C8080WZ (xD and CF cards). More detail: Apport information report attached. Problem occurs when logged in to either Gnome or Unity Desktop in Ubuntu 17.10. On a prompt from an askubuntu.com user I also tested the Fuji camera on a Ubuntu 17.10 live USB (64 bit ISO downloaded 2 Nov 2017) and found the problem to occur there as well. [Bug 597678] Re: in nautilus list view, with the window full of files it's not possible to open a terminal
This is no bug in nautilus-open-terminal package. The problem is that nautilus does not provide an empty area to right click on which selects the current folder. In case, the folder is not full, you can click on the empty area to get the context menu of the current folder. Other file managers, e.g. Windows Explorer select an item only if you click on its name. Having this behaviour you always find some empty space to get the context menu of the current folder. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/597678 Title: in nautilus list view, with the window full of files it's not possible to open a terminal To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus-open-terminal/+bug/597678/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1359689] Re: cryptsetup password prompt not shown
Adding my experience in case someone has the same issue. Installed a fresh Ubuntu 16.04.3 with the clear entire drive and set up LUKS+LVM option. After the first reboot I got the graphical password prompt but couldn't type anything. After the next reboot, after passing GRUB, the screen just stayed blank purple. Only ctrl+alt+del worked. To get the system boot correctly I edited the default GRUB Ubuntu entry (the 'e' key in GRUB): 1. change the line "gfxmode $linux_gfx_mode" to "gfxmode auto", or just remove it whole 2. remove the "splash" from the linux kernel cmdline 3. boot with F10 After that I got a text prompt to unlock my disk volume and after giving it the password the system started normally. If this works for you and you want to make it persistent, edit the /etc/default/grub file (with sudo): 1. remove the "splash" from GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT 2. uncomment the line GRUB_GFXMODE and set it to "auto", GRUB_GFXMODE=auto 3. save the file and run the command "update-grub" Hope this helps. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1359689 Title: cryptsetup password prompt not shown To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/plymouth/+bug/1359689/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1675581] Re: [GTK+3 build] Sticky Notes - Can't select text in note
** Also affects: mate-applets (Ubuntu Bionic) Importance: Medium Assignee: Martin Wimpress (flexiondotorg) Status: Triaged ** Also affects: mate-applets (Ubuntu Artful) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: mate-applets (Ubuntu Bionic) Assignee: Martin Wimpress (flexiondotorg) => Vlad Orlov (monsta) ** Changed in: mate-applets (Ubuntu Artful) Assignee: (unassigned) => Vlad Orlov (monsta) ** Description changed: + [Impact] + + It's not possible to select the text in sticky notes in mate-applets + 1.18.x. Attempting to do it just grabs the sticky note window to move + it. + + The fix for this issue is provided in the debdiffs attached to the + report. + + Would be nice to have the fix backported to Zesty and Artful, as the + issue causes problems for users who use sticky notes daily. + + [Test Case] + + Steps to reproduce: + + - double-click on stickynotes applet icon to create a new sticky note + - type any text into the sticky note window + - try to select the text with the mouse + + Instead of selecting the text, the sticky note window will be grabbed to + move it, with mouse pointer changing accordingly. + + [Regression Potential] + + The fix only affects stickynotes applet and can't affect any other parts + of the desktop. Besides, the fix had been tested by upstream developers. + + The only regression that could be introduced by the fix is the inability + to grab and move the sticky note window at all. However, it can still be + grabbed by the top part of the window, as before. It worked that way in + older versions (in GTK+2 builds), so it's what the users would expect. + + [Original Description] + Ubuntu 16.04, Ubuntu 17.04 I upgraded to Mate Desktop 1.18 from ppa https://launchpad.net/~jonathonf/+archive/ubuntu/mate-1.18. And i tested this in 17.04 Ubuntu Mate. Same issue... The sticky notes text can't be selected. The mouse pointer just grabs the note instead of selecting any text. - - Any one else having same issue? ** Changed in: mate-applets (Ubuntu Artful) Status: New => In Progress ** Changed in: mate-applets (Ubuntu Artful) Importance: Undecided => Medium ** Changed in: mate-applets (Ubuntu Bionic) Status: Triaged => In Progress -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1675581 Title: [GTK+3 build] Sticky Notes - Can't select text in note To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mate-applets/+bug/1675581/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1725560] Re: OVMF UEFI firmware causes Windows 10 to not boot after upgrade
Yeah I've installed the 9/11 and 10/27 debs as well as several of the bisected OVMF_CODE.fd files you marked as working, no luck. I am currently trying a bunch of different fresh windows VM installs to see if I can narrow down a specific set of options that causes the problem. Or it's entirely possible something got messed up with the disk during my migrastion I suppose. I did some more research on the logo change and indeed it seems like their trying to treat it as a OEM style boot logo for debugging purposes so I was probably misinterpreting it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1725560 Title: OVMF UEFI firmware causes Windows 10 to not boot after upgrade To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/edk2/+bug/1725560/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
