Re: [Bug 1751129] Re: I think there is some security issue in my ubuntu .
If i have user1 and user2 in ubuntu. And i log into user2 and in terminal I type "sudo su user1" Then type user1 sudo password. Boom and I am in user1 terminal and access everything. I think it shouldn't be like that. [Bug 1750774] Re: Replace rescan_scsi_bus script with the latest one
Can't see that on my side still, waiting for the additional logs requested in comment #4 once you found the time for them. For example [1] creates iscsi targets as well and uses them. So what exactly is "create a volume" for you - could be the target creation, could be LVM2 on it, could be many other things ... :-/ When you log the data requested (logs), - please - it is be very how EXACTLY you do the 1. [Bug 1750937] Re: 4.4.0-116 Kernel update on 2/21 breaks Nvidia drivers (on 14.04 and 16.04)
Having the exact same issue with nvidia-390 package at my Ubuntu 16.04, rolled back to nvidia-387 and had the same issue. And later I rolled back nvidia-384, and still the same issue. Then I downloaded NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-384.111.run from Nvidia's website to see if I am able to get it up and running as Jason claimed in his earlier post. Started installing the manual driver by killing the x server. It prompt as unable to load the kernel module 'Nvidia.ko'. Simply installation failed. I am curious to find out how Jason switched to that version of Nvidia drivers. So for the one last time I tried removing all nvidia-* packages, and tried installin nvidia-331 package from the repository... and the result is the same on my end. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1750937 Title: 4.4.0-116 Kernel update on 2/21 breaks Nvidia drivers (on 14.04 and 16.04) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1750937/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Sorry, but if I would be that good to let you know why I believe it is a bug I probably would fix it. Nevertheless I studied it and it was reported by others on the Internet which means very little I agree. However it occured on three of my ubuntu machines and it is not likely to be hardware dependent. I feel that you made an incomplete conclusion that is not really helpful to the community. Since the bug report is generated/ sent automatically ( most or part of it ) Ubuntu could design their bug reporting so that you receive the information you need. [Bug 1751195] [NEW] 17.10.1 installer fails to run grub-install, many files missing after install
Public bug reported: I installed from the 17.10.1 ISO and ran into a bunch of weird issues which may or may not be related. If I can provide any additional information to help track down any of these, or if any of them should be split into separate bugs, please assist me in doing the right thing. I did an install with the default partitioning settings, without LVM or disk encryption. At the end of the install, it informed me that grub- install /dev/dm-0 had failed, without giving me any information at all about the cause of the failure, and asked what I should do. At that point I attempted to have it run grub-install /dev/sda and grub-install /dev/sda1, the other choices that were offered, and both of them failed as well. After this I had to boot the live CD again, go into "try" mode instead of "install" mode, and use Boot-Repair as described at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Boot-Repair to fix grub. This worked fine, and I was able to boot the newly installed system afterward. However, after doing this I discovered that some programs would not run because they said shared libraries were not missing. This turned out to be a more general problem than just missing shared libraries: for some reason, many package files were missing from my hard disk. I ended up using debsums to get a list of all missing files, pulling the package names from that list, and reinstalling all of those packages. I have no idea how all these files ended up missing. I didn't notice any errors during the install which would explain it. After this, I tried to run an ansible playbook locally that calls apt- get install (i.e., that uses the "apt" ansible module), and this caused ansible-playbook to consume 100% of CPU until I ctrl-C'd the ansible- playbook process. Upon further investigation I found that the root cause of this was that there was a line for the install cdrom left at the beginning of /etc/apt/sources.list, which I had to remove by hand. Overall, not a smooth install experience. Unless a user specifies a specific set of dns servers on a subnet, which is not always the case, then MAAS doesn’t know which interface the dns servers belong to. I believe this is one of the reasons why the “global” config was used, because effectively, the DNS server doesn’t really “belong” to a specific interface. So we either sent it to all, interfaces or pick a “best” interface, which is not the best approach either. As per mpontillo’s config, this has the likelihood to break dns resolution. That said, maybe option 3 would be to put th dns on the interface which the default routes will be going through... > -- > You received this bug notification because you are subscribed to the bug > report. > https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1750884 > > Title: > [2.4, bionic] /etc/resolv.conf not configured correctly in Bionic, > leads to no DNS resolution > > To manage notifications about this bug go to: > https://bugs.launchpad.net/cloud-init/+bug/1750884/+subscriptions > > Launchpad-Notification-Type: bug > Launchpad-Bug: product=cloud-init; status=New; importance=Undecided; > assignee=None; > Launchpad-Bug: product=maas; milestone=2.4.0alpha2; status=Triaged; > importance=High; assignee=mike.ponti...@canonical.com; > Launchpad-Bug: distribution=ubuntu; sourcepackage=nplan; component=main; > status=New; importance=Critical; assignee=None; > Launchpad-Bug: distribution=ubuntu; sourcepackage=systemd; component=main; > status=New; importance=Critical; assignee=None; > Launchpad-Bug-Information-Type: Public > Launchpad-Bug-Private: no > Launchpad-Bug-Security-Vulnerability: no > Launchpad-Bug-Commenters: andreserl cyphermox dean raharper smoser xnox > Launchpad-Bug-Reporter: Andres Rodriguez (andreserl) > Launchpad-Bug-Modifier: Scott Moser (smoser) > Launchpad-Message-Rationale: Subscriber > Launchpad-Message-For: andreserl > -- Andres Rodriguez (RoAkSoAx) Ubuntu Server Developer MSc. [Bug 1751191] [NEW] Using Vbox with 3D enabled, creates strange stuttering
Public bug reported: It looks that the sequence of frames displayed at the screen is mixed up. The display goes back say ¼ a second and that gives a very strange effect. You type a letter, that letter is erased afterwards and reappears after ¼ of a second. See the ATTACHED video. You see the same type of going back a number of frames in e.g. YouTube videos, which gives a jittery effect. The problem only occurs if I have 3D acceleration enabled in Virtualbox and it occurred with both Ubuntu 16.04 and 17.10 hosts. [Bug 1750884] Re: [2.4, bionic] /etc/resolv.conf not configured correctly in Bionic, leads to no DNS resolution
Getting this fixed in cloud-init is tricky. In ifupdown (/etc/network/interfaces) world, we just took the "global dns" entries and put them on the loopback device (lo). Since that device would always be brought up, and never really brought down, it served its purpose. That is what Ryan tried above, but it doesnt seem to work. Even if it *did* work, the solution would be systemd-networkd specific, and cloud- init doesn't speak to systemd-networkd or systemd-resolved. It speaks to netplan. So we would still need a way for cloud-init to tell netplan to do this. That leaves us with 2 not-so-great solutions in cloud-init only: a.) blindly put global dns entries on *all* interfaces b.) cloud-init search through the config and find the "right" interface to put the global dns entry on. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1750884 Title: [2.4, bionic] /etc/resolv.conf not configured correctly in Bionic, leads to no DNS resolution To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/cloud-init/+bug/1750884/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1527727] Re: grub-probe for zfs assumes all devices prefix with /dev, ignoring /dev/disk/...
Hi. I've confirmed this fix by using curtin's "vmtest" test harness. I've applied the attached patch to curtin at 82622f129b. The patch does: a.) remove the work arounds we had in place to make zfs root work on xenial. b.) enable proposed Then I've run an install of a system that does a installation of zfs on root. ./tools/jenkins-runner examples/tests/zfsroot.yaml:tests/vmtests/test_zfsroot.py:XenialGATestZfsRoot I'll attach the boot and install logs of that system also. ** Patch added: "applied curtin diff" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/1527727/+attachment/5060820/+files/curtin.diff -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1527727 Title: grub-probe for zfs assumes all devices prefix with /dev, ignoring /dev/disk/... THere's a bug there which runs sys.exit() in the non-main body of the code; Instead only subcommands _main_ methods should use sys.exit(); the collection method (create_log_tarfile) need only return. % git diff diff --git a/curtin/commands/collect_logs.py b/curtin/commands/collect_logs.py index a61d91e..2078f37 100644 --- a/curtin/commands/collect_logs.py +++ b/curtin/commands/collect_logs.py @@ -48,6 +48,7 @@ def collect_logs_main(args): SAVE_INSTALL_CONFIG, CURTIN_PACK_CONFIG_DIR)) cfg = CONFIG_BUILTIN.copy() create_log_tarfile(args.output, cfg) +sys.exit(0) def create_log_tarfile(tarfile, config): @@ -104,7 +105,7 @@ def create_log_tarfile(tarfile, config): if os.path.exists(tmp_dir): shutil.rmtree(tmp_dir) sys.stderr.write('Wrote: %s\n' % tarfile) -sys.exit(0) +return ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 18.04 Package: curtin 17.1-37-g82622f12-0ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.13.0-32.35~16.04.1-generic 4.13.13 Uname: Linux 4.13.0-32-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.8-0ubuntu10 Architecture: amd64 Date: Fri Feb 23 02:00:28 2018 PackageArchitecture: all ProcEnviron: TERM=xterm-256color PATH=(custom, no user) LANG=C.UTF-8 SourcePackage: curtin UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: curtin (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug bionic uec-images -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1751176 Title: curtin exit codes broken by collect_logs misuse of sys.exit To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/curtin/+bug/1751176/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1751175] [NEW] Rhythmbox does not save metadata for FLAC files
Public bug reported: Since upgrading to Ubuntu 17.10, Rhythmbox does not record the metadata entered in the "Extract" interface when converting CDs to FLAC files. (I have not checked to see if the same is true with mp3.) Expected behaviour: I load a CD, and Rhythmbox loads the metadata for the album from MusicBrainz (or I enter it manually if the album is not found). If I click Extract, the CD is converted to my preferred file format (in this case, FLAC), and the metadata is added to the resulting files. This was the case on Ubuntu 17.04 and earlier. Current behaviour: metadata is loaded from MusicBrainz as usual, but when I extract, most of it is not added to the files. If the metadata provided is Track Number, Artist, Album, Title, Genre, Disc number, and Year, I see the following: The title that results is the file name, for example: James Ehnes - 02 - Ravel: Berceuse sur le nom de Gabriel Fauré.flac The Artist, Album, Track Number, and Genre tags are not written. Curiously, the Disc number and year tags *are* written. More curiously, as a file is being converted, all the tags display in Rhythmbox as expected. But the moment the extraction reaches the end of the file, and the file is saved, the tags disappear. [Bug 1749895] Re: Mouse & Keyboard completely unresponsive when starting a VM
I'm talking about changing the driver in the guest, on the assumption this bug was reported from the guest (which is what we need). However now that you mention it, you probably reported this from the host so the above logs would be misleading and probably irrelevant... If that's correct then unfortunately we'll need to leave the status as Incomplete until someone can figure out how to get some useful information out of the VM/guest itself. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1749895 Title: Mouse & Keyboard completely unresponsive when starting a VM To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1749895/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
