[Bug 1753470] Re: Postconf segfaults every 5 minutes

2018-03-06 Thread Andreas Hasenack
Do you have mail in the queue? -> sudo mailq

Do you have another 5min cron job that is perhaps failing and therefore
sending an email?

Can you see any ownership and permissions problems in the postfix
directories? Try "sudo postfix check", and maybe do a quick manual
inspection in /var/spool, /var/lib, /var/mail directories

Do you have users and groups coming from a network source, like ldap,
nis, ad, and maybe the postfix user or group is mixed with that?

Can you try running that postconf command as the postfix user, or as
root if your previous attempt was as postfix or a regular user?
Something like "sudo -u postfix -H postconf -h queue_directory"

Thanks

2018-03-06 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
BTW - tests on P8 are already good on my side, and since the request
from IBM came fro P9 I have to assume it will be good there. But e.g.
cross release migration X->B and such I had tested explicitly to be
sure.

That said, please be aware that this will be a remaining "itch" for you at the
current solution.
If somebody had guests on pre-Xenial it will have HTM enabled by default.
If those users migrate to a P9 system on Bionic they will still carry the
feature of HTM being enabled and run into the issue, but there is nothing we
can do about it other than getting your kernel fix completed and integrated.
But I thought I make you aware to be sure.

Public bug reported:

However this is way too old (from 2015). It's been more than 3 months
since OpenCV 3.4.0 was released.

Can you consider OpenCV version 3.4.x for Bionic release?

[Bug 1750937] Re: 4.4.0-116 Kernel update on 2/21 breaks Nvidia drivers (on 14.04 and 16.04) by an insufficient compiler!

2018-03-06 Thread lithorus
I had the same problem with zfs too.

Changed :
CONFIG_RETPOLINE=y
to
CONFIG_RETPOLINE=n
in
/boot/config-4.4.0-116-generic

and reinstalled the nvidia/zfs kernel modules.

To me it seems that the config file shipped with the kernel is not
matching the version used for compiling.

The AppArmor error message appears to be related to already reported
but, and is unrelated. Stunnel was work-in-progress so that's not a
problem. Livepatchd doesn't start because 18.04 doesn't currently have

The problem leaves no traces in any of the logs, but then again I can't
find anything that wouldn't work either. Postfix works just fine.
There's no crontab jobs or anything that would fire sending a message or
anything, besides sending messages works fine as well, with no error
messages. It's just these two messages every 5 minutes.

[Bug 1727237] Re: systemd-resolved is not finding a domain

2018-03-06 Thread Mario Limonciello
@cyphermox,

I can readily reproduce this using my company's guest network with
current systemd in Bionic. We use "securelogin.networks.dell.com" for
our redirector. If I can provide something useful, happy to do so.

[Bug 1577140] Re: Wifi Ralink R3290 disabled by default in ubuntu 16.04

2018-03-06 Thread Shankey
I don't have an perfect idea about that..But yes, as per my experience
may be there is something wrong from v4.0 kernels because this problem
started from the initial release of ubuntu 16.04 which came along with
the kernel v4.2...The problem was ralink wifi "disabled by
default"..when you go on to settings you find that airplaine mode is
enabled by default and you cant disable it. Even when you compile
another driver for this WIFI card somehow it shows up but still its
useless because it doesn’t detect the wifi connections nearbybecause
its blocked.

Something is messing up with Ralink or there is some bug in kernel
itself which preventing this wifi from activating.

This problem is still present in Ubuntu and its derivatives which are
based from 16.04 to the present builds. #1745636 problem is same. the
wifi key doesn't unlocks the wifi nor even Rfkill command. I have been
filling this bug from last 2 year but still the problem exists.

[Bug 1753915] [NEW] Outdated CD ripping documentation

2018-03-06 Thread Dan Dascalescu
Public bug reported:

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/CDRipping claims that Audio CD
Extractor / Sound Juicer is included by default in Ubuntu. This isn't
the case in 16.04.

PS: not sure if this is the right package, but finding that has been an
exercise in futility. https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs
didn't cover anything about documentation,
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage was useless etc.

Editing the wiki didn't work (I can't log in).

[Bug 1753658] Re: Xorg crash

2018-03-06 Thread dwilches
Found the issue when looking at `/var/log/apport.log`. This may be
useful for other people to whom you ask to do that workaround:

RROR: apport (pid 2496) Tue Mar 6 21:33:37 2018: apport: report
/var/crash/_usr_bin_gnome-shell.1000.crash already exists and unseen,
doing nothing to avoid disk usage DoS

So I removed the crashes I already had in /var/crash. Will reproduce the
crash now and report back in a moment.

[Bug 1753658] Re: Xorg crash

2018-03-06 Thread dwilches
Tried two workarounds mentioned in that bug, none worked (the crash did
not generate any files in /var/crash).

The first workaround I tried was:

comment out line 23 ("'problem_types': ['Bug', 'Package'],") in
'/etc/apport/crashdb.conf'.

I put an # at the beginning of line 20, not 23 because line 20 is the
one that mentions problem_types, but after a restart and reproducing the
crash I didn't get any new crash files in that folder.

Also tried adding `Crash` to the list of problem_types (as mentioned in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apport/+bug/993450/comments/13
) but same thing, no new files after a restart and a crash.

Something else I can try to generate the crash file?

[Bug 1753905] [NEW] Sync prometheus-mailexporter 1.0-2 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

2018-03-06 Thread Anthony Fok
Public bug reported:

Please sync prometheus-mailexporter 1.0-2 (universe) from Debian
unstable (main)

  Previous Debian versions (<= 1.0-1) of prometheus-mailexporter
Depends on the now obsolete golang-fsnotify-dev transitional package.

prometheus-mailexporter (1.0-1) was the last package which Build-Depends
this old transitional package, which was removed the most recent
golang-fsnotify (1.4.7-1), for which a "FFe: Sync from Debian" request
  was also filed at:
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/golang-fsnotify/+bug/1753767

Changelog entries since current bionic version 1.0-1:

prometheus-mailexporter (1.0-2) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Apply "cme fix dpkg" to debian/control and debian/copyright,
bumping Standards-Version to 4.1.3,
setting Priority to optional, and
adding Testsuite: autopkgtest-pkg-go, etc.
  * Use debhelper (>= 11)
  * Depend on golang-any instead of golang-go
  * Depend on golang-github-fsnotify-fsnotify-dev
instead of the obsolete golang-fsnotify-dev transitional package.
  * Depend on golang-gopkg-yaml.v2-dev
instead of the deprecated golang-yaml.v2-dev transitional package.
  * Depend on golang-github-prometheus-client-golang-dev
instead of the deprecated golang-prometheus-client-dev
transitional package.

[Bug 1753902] [NEW] Users administration tool - advanced settings window size problem

2018-03-06 Thread Brian
Public bug reported:

I am using MATE, so my steps will be as such

If I go to the menu: System -> Administration -> Users and Groups
When the window opens, I have only one user. Under that user, I click on button
'Advanced Settings'. After I authenticate and the window opens, it appears on
my screen very tall to the point where I cannot even see the bottom of the
window where I assume there are some buttons like Cancel, Ok, Submit, or
something to confirm or deny changes made. The window is somewhat narrow which
looks fine, but there is a lor of wasted space vertically. I am unable to
resize this window at all, not horizontally or vertically. The resizing icons
appear, but the window itself will not resize.

I believe I have the current version, but there is no version/about or anything
on this tool. The help is really of no use for this, and it does contain the
following, but the link goes to an invalid URL.
"To report a bug or make a suggestion regarding the Users Administration Tool
or this manual, follow the directions in the GNOME Feedback Page."
I am using MATE 17.10 with all updates valid as of today per Package Manager.

This may seem somewhat minor, but without a 'yes or no' button option,
these settings are all useless.

[Bug 1753899] [NEW] extension doesn't work, no app icons appear in top bar

2018-03-06 Thread Tessa
Public bug reported:

On other installs, this extension correctly provides a system tray space
for apps to display their indicator icons. However, on a fresh install
of 17.10 with gnome running from lightdm (because gdm3 fails with the
current nvidia binary drivers), it doesn't appear to be active. There
are background apps (like variety) which should be displayed, but no
icons appear.

[Bug 1753662] Re: [i40e] LACP bonding start up race conditions

2018-03-06 Thread Nobuto Murata
I run an overnight test with v4.12 just to make sure it really fixed the
issue. It happened sometimes, but way less frequencies. We may need to
test it longer for "good" cases since the patch may not be only one.
Anyway, the current status is:

v4.12-rc1 with i40e 2.1.14 - bad (3 out of 3)
v4.12 with i40e 2.1.14 - relatively good (5 out of 68)

The next test would be with v4.12-rc4.

[Bug 1753894] [NEW] Bionic LiveCD: Boot time is very slow

2018-03-06 Thread Dandromb
Public bug reported:

I'm not sure what package to report this against.

The Ubuntu Bionic LiveCD boots VERY slowly compared to previous LiveCDs
(Trusty, Xenial, etc.)

I read this is being worked on (see: https://community.ubuntu.com/t
/desktop-newsletter-19th-jan-2018/3524 "General" section), but I wanted
to file this bug just to formally report the problem.

Boot time on my machine is over 3 minutes, feels more live 5 or 6
minutes. That's much higher than other distros I test, like Linux Mint,
or Ubuntu Mate 16.04, Xubuntu 17.10, pretty much anything other than the
main Bionic daily ISO boots a lot faster.

[Bug 1753884] [NEW] session logout after suspend

2018-03-06 Thread Simon
Public bug reported:

This is a new bug report for
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/362075

I am running Ubuntu 16.04.4 LTS 64-bit + gnome, the standard
installation as downloaded from the Ubuntu website, on a Lenovo ThinkPad
T440s.

When I close the lid of my laptop, my session gets logged out, where I
would expect the lock screen simply to come up.

The workaround suggested in the original bug report (which was for
kubuntu 9.04) suggests to disable the lock screen on resume option, but
I can't find this option on 16.04.

It's also not a super desirable work-around. I want to still have to log
in if I close the lid of my laptop.

Actually I'm very very confused by this. I can't reproduce it on the porter
box, maybe it only happens in a VM (which is what the autopkgtest run in)
for some reason. If you have access to a vm on arm64 ...

golang-github-prometheus-tsdb is just a flaky test I think. I'll bounce on
retry a few times and get it marked as bad if it doesn't pass.

[Bug 1753873] [NEW] The session title "Ubuntu on Wayland" is misleading

2018-03-06 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Public bug reported:

The session title "Ubuntu on Wayland" is misleading.

Gnome Shell is not running "on Wayland" at all. If you choose that
option then mutter is running on the "eglnative" backend instead of the
X11 backend.

I'm not suggesting we call the session "Ubuntu on eglnative", as that
would make it more confusing. But I wonder if we can find a session
title that avoids implying the impossible situation that the shell runs
"on Wayland". Because the current title makes many people think that's
what's happening.

Actually, Wayland doesn't come into the picture at all until you start
an app. Only then is "Wayland" used at all as the protocol between the
app and the shell, sometimes.

Yes, more or less. The hard part is usually figuring out what's going on
more than fixing the problems so assistance on that part is what's most
needed. It looks like SetAffinity is broken on arm64 in the new version and
in fact was probably broken already in
golang-golang-x-sys/0.0~git20180126.0.ff2a66f-1 ... which was the version
that added SetAffiinity at all so it's probably always been broken... which
probably means an upstream bug report...

etc etc :)
