[Bug 1753782] Re: File Properties window size truncates longer paths

The problem: the window is too narrow to display a path not in the shortest branches of /bin/, /lib/, etc. and is neither auto-resizing nor resizeable. [Bug 1754425] Re: Lots of pcieport and nvme kernel errors - system non-responsive
Unfortunately, that's what many people say when they log a bug. And unfortunately you do seem to be the first/only person reporting this problem, for now. Although that doesn't imply your machine is the only one affected. It's always possible you have the honour of just being the most observant person to notice and report the problem first... This is totally happening for me since a long while now. It was there in 17.x , it is there in 18.04 beta. No matter if we use KDE or Cinnamon. No matter if we use noveau or NVIDIA drivers. I have 2 monitors for my desktop, a big one in front and a smaller one on the left. The big one is supposed to be the main desktop screen. Once the screen saver timer kicks in to turn off the monitors, the big one never comes back to life after entering the password (can only enter it on the secondary-left side monitor). Fedora 27 (due ~November) is actually bundling webkit1 inside the gnucash packaging. There will be a beta version of gnucash ported to gtk3 available later this year. I don't disagree. It is a bug and as I said I have no objection to getting it fixed in older stable releases if somebody wants to drive that. But I maintain it is not a serious issue, because as I explained it only causes some inconvenience to users during development and testing and does not affect production systems. Claiming it is a serious issue dilutes attention from issues that really are serious, which is why I objected to that statement in this case. > So it has been a while now. What's the next step to get this in? > The fix is really trivial. Can I help with something to get it rolling? Please see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates#Procedure. The fix may be trivial, but unfortunately updating the stable release is not. The risk of regressing users who expect stability means that we have to take considerable care. For example, an unrelated latent bug could be exposed by a rebuild. [Bug 1756198] Re: Intermittent HDMI sound, working with some videos/audios, failing with others
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1756198/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. [Bug 1756209] [NEW] i386 implementation of memmove broken since glibc 2.21
Public bug reported: In glibc 2.21 they optimized i386 memcpy: https://sourceware.org/ml/libc-alpha/2015-02/msg00119.html The implementation contained a bug which causes memmove to break when crossing the 2GB threshold. This has been filed with glibc here (filed by someone else, but I have requested an update from them as well): https://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=22644 Unfortunately they have not yet taken action on this bug, however I want to bring it to your attention in the hope that it can be patched into all current Ubuntu releases as soon as possible. I hope this is not improper procedure. Both myself and another (see comment 1 in the glibc bug report) have tested the patch provided in the above glibc bug report and it does appear to fix the problem, however I don't know what the procedure is for getting it properly confirmed/tested and merged into Ubuntu. As requested in the guidelines: 1) We are using: Description:Ubuntu 16.04.4 LTS Release:16.04 2) libc6:i386: Installed: 2.23-0ubuntu10 However as stated above this has been present since libc6:i386 2.21 and affects Ubuntu 15.04 onward. (I have actually tested this as well. 15.04 conveniently used both glibc 2.19 and 2.21 so it was a good test platform when I was initially attempting to track down the problem.) 3) What we expected to happen: memmove should move data within the entire valid address space without segfaulting or corrupting memory. 4) What happened instead: When memmove attempts to move data crossing the 2GB threshold it either segfaults or causes memory corruption. ** Affects: glibc (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1756209 Title: i386 implementation of memmove broken since glibc 2.21 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/glibc/+bug/1756209/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1738263] Re: Touchpad not working and locking CPU
So, I read in a thread that someone was having something similar happen to them and they built the 4.14 kernel and this fixed the issue. I decided to pull and build the Bionic kernel from git://kernel.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ubuntu-bionic and install that on my Artful laptop and now everything appears to be working normal. The touchpad is fully responsive and working as it should. I will continue to test throughout the weekend, but it looks like the current 4.15.0-10-generic kernel does fix the elan touchpad issue on the GL702VD. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1738263 Title: Touchpad not working and locking CPU To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1738263/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
