[Bug 1767454] Re: "Other Locations" does not automatically find Samba servers in Ubuntu 18.04

2018-04-28 Thread David Spoelstra
Thanks for the explanation, but that feels like a real regression to me!
Just last week with 17.10 I was showing some people running Windows how
easy it was to browse and connect to Windows servers with Nautilus. Now,
with 18.04, they again have to jump through hoops and know cryptic smb
URLs to connect to them...

[Bug 1759462] Re: Keyboard shortcuts not operational on 18.04

2018-04-28 Thread WinEunuchs2Unix
Like #3 I also have the Logitech K800 wireless keyboard.

- Ctrl+Alt+T doesn't open terminal must use Dash and select gnome-terminal
- Alt+PrintScreen doesn't open screen-shot must use Dash and select Screenshot
- Media keys don't work

Resorting to laptop's keyboard (Alienware 17 R3) Ctrl+Alt+T doesn't work
either.

Ubuntu 16.04 upgraded to Ubuntu 18.04 (luckily in test environment).
Answered Y to half a dozen prompts to convert login.d, sane, network and
others to new configuration format. Only declined not to update
/etc/default/grub to new configuration format.

Signed in with Unity under Xorg.

[Bug 1764096] Re: Brasero can't burn DVD because of permissions issue

2018-04-28 Thread Bruce Arnold
I'm experiencing the same problem with Ubuntu 18.04 release.
I tried to disable the wodim plugin but the check box is checked and gray.
I tried setting the USID bit in
/usr/share/bash-completion/conpletions/wodin but the brasero crash still
occurred.
Tested on two different computers. Same symptoms.

2018-04-28 Thread Diogo Gomes
Updates of same issue for Ubuntu 18.04:

> WORKAROUND: Use the proprietary nvidia driver.

It's not possible use this workaround because the version 18.04 not
contains any driver to select in the settings.

---

> WORKAROUND: Use PPA from https://launchpad.net/~oibaf/+archive/ubuntu
/graphics-drivers

This workaround dos not work on version 18.04. I have the same random
freeze/crash after using it.

---

> To clarify, after the freeze/crash, are there crash files in
/var/crash?

No, there isn't any files in this location.

---

> Could you please advise when the freeze/crash happens?

It is random.

---

> To clarify, if you use the proprietary nvidia drivers, does the
computer still freeze/crash?

In version 18.04 is not possible choose any drivers.

---

Updated all new logs and photo with prefix 18.04.

Christopher M. Penalver, please tell me if you need more information.

Thank you

[Bug 1767741] [NEW] Doesn't launch in Ubuntu 18.04

2018-04-28 Thread David Spoelstra
Public bug reported:

Clean Ubuntu 18.04. ProjectM installed with Software Center. It won't
launch when you click on it.

I found two bugs and here's how you fix them:

1. Error: lib-canberra-gtk not installed. Run this command to install
lib-canberra-gtk and fix the error:
sudo apt install libcanberra-gtk*

2. Error: In the projectM configuration file. It's looking for two paths which
no longer exist:
/usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-dejavu/DejaVuSans.ttf
/usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-dejavu/DejaVuSansMono.ttf

To fix, edit ~/.projectM/config.inp and change those two paths to:
/usr/share/fonts/truetype/dejavu/DejaVuSans.ttf
/usr/share/fonts/truetype/dejavu/DejaVuSansMono.ttf

Now it launches and runs when you click on the projectM icon.

[Bug 1767740] [NEW] gnome-shell crashes at startup - segfault in nouveau_dri.sn

2018-04-28 Thread Guillaume
Public bug reported:

With a live USB stick or a freshly installed version of 18.04, gnome-
shell crashes at startup. I get this error in dmesg:

gnome-shell[]: segfault at xx ip xx sp xx error 4 in
nouveau_dri.so[]

The computer is a MacBook Pro with a GeForce 320M GPU. Using the
proprietary driver listed in the "additional drivers" tab doesn't work
either (I get a black screen at startup with no access to a virtual
terminal).

Everything was fine on 16.04, with nouveau or nvidia drivers.

The only workaround is to blacklist the nouveau driver. I have of course
very poor performance then.

[Bug 1727320] Re: Screen turn on/off 3 times and DP-1-3 connected but nothing is connected [latitude e7470]

2018-04-28 Thread Dima Ryazanov
(Note: I'm using Fedora, not Ubuntu - but figured, this info will still
be useful to anyone affected by the bug.)

I've upgraded from Fedora 27 to 28, and the bug went away. My best guess
is that updating Gnome from 3.26 to 3.28 is what fixed it. (The kernel
versions don't seem to have any effect.)

[Bug 1767738] [NEW] USB external harddrive hang

2018-04-28 Thread Francois Coulombe
Public bug reported:

I have a powered external usb harddrive
https://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/western-digital-wd-my-book-4tb-2-5-usb-3-0-external-hard-drive-wdbbgb0040hbk-nesn-wdbbgb0040hbk-nesn/10482142.aspx

which i'm trying to mount.

connecting it shows in dmesg that it's picking up on a usb device.

after some time, it reports that a bunch of kernel tasks hung with some
callstacks

I first encountered this bug on a raspberry pi by running an upgrade (i
can't remember the original version but it use to work)

I then figured that i should check if the problem is also on my ubuntu machine
running 16.04.
it did

i then upgraded to 17.10 and the problem was still there.

i then tested on 18.04 and the problem is still there.

[Bug 1764459] Re: Ubuntu 18.04 suddenly fails to boot to login screen

2018-04-28 Thread teledyn
Definately a bug in there somewhere: on my system I can login, but when
the screensaver kicks in the X session collapses, the screen is blank
but when a key is touched it is full of these APCI messages. Hitting
return causes the X session to restart back to the initial login screen.

[Bug 685596] Re: users-admin doesn't report error when PolicyKit authentication fails

2018-04-28 Thread Walter Lapchynski
I cannot replicate this in Bionic, at least if I understand the steps to
reproduce correctly. If this is still valid in Bionic, please re-write
the description with clear steps to reproduce. Ideally, this should be
something that could be recreated from a fresh install. Thanks!

[Bug 607999] Re: gsettings-data-convert crashed with signal 5 in g_object_newv()

2018-04-28 Thread Walter Lapchynski
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.

At a minimum, we need:
1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem.
2. The behavior you expected.
3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).

Beyond that, I have not seen a bug likes this in many years. If you
could provide additional information on how it affects a currently
supported release, that would be most helpful.

patch at https://lkml.org/lkml/2018/4/3/136.

issue happens even when I don't use the "Something else" option.

[Bug 1763829] Re: [snap] chromium won't start after logging in to google account

2018-04-28 Thread rubensa
Ubuntu 18.04 clean install.

Installed chromium snap from stable channel and found the problem
(browser worked till I entered my google account and saved password on
keyring).

Fond this bug (from https://forum.snapcraft.io/t/call-for-testing-
chromium-65-0-3325-146/4390/21 ), changed to candidate and the problem
is gone. Now chromium starts without problem.

Thanks!

[Bug 1767728] [NEW] /home/$USER/.cache is owned by root

2018-04-28 Thread Nick Hynes
Public bug reported:

I´ve installed ubuntu 17.10 from a mini install with no additional
packages by accident*.

I then installed ubuntu-desktop using apt-get.

After installing ubuntu-desktop I saw a number of issues that all appear
to step from having root as the owner of ´/home/$USER/.cache´ in my
profile.

I´ve fixed this, with a simple chown command, but thought you should know
because there are a number of symptoms that could be quite challenging for less
experience users including:
* Firefox won´t startup during to permissions problems with the user´s profile
* Application updates is unable to get a list of available packages because it
can´t access ~/.cache/gnome-software/...´

NOTE: the attached bug report shows the state of my system AFTER I
applied the above fix, and it is now working.

Footnote: *it would be good to have a ´go back´ option during the mini install
after selecting packages as a separate feature request - so that users who do
as I did and press ENTER to select, rather than space, can correct their error.
Iĺl enter this separately. :)

[Bug 1758243] Re: bumblebee needs configuration changes to work with nvidia-driver-390 and libglvnd0

2018-04-28 Thread Juan Montero
Update: both optirun and primusrun crash when trying to load openGL.

They work as expected for non-opengl apps:
('optirun screenfetch' and 'primusrun screenfetch' both work and show the GPU
correctly!)

-
Output of 'optirun glxgears':
-
X Error of failed request: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)
Major opcode of failed request: 155 (GLX)
Minor opcode of failed request: 11 (X_GLXSwapBuffers)
Serial number of failed request: 37
Current serial number in output stream: 38
primus: warning: dropping a frame to avoid deadlock
primus: warning: timeout waiting for display worker
terminate called without an active exception

-
Output of primusrun glxgears:
-
/usr/bin/primusrun: line 41: warning: command substitution: ignored null byte
in input
primus: fatal: failed to load any of the libraries:
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/mesa/libGL.so.1
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/mesa/libGL.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No
such file or directory

This happens even after installing the full nvidia-driver-390 package
(which includes nvidia-prime) and repeating all the steps mentioned in
post #1.

Which package provides this openGL library and where is it located? Am I
missing a symlink or a path?

[Bug 1755863] Re: netbooting the bionic live CD over NFS goes straight to maintenance mode :

2018-04-28 Thread beta-tester
is the status "Fix Released" from 2018-04-27 mean,
that the fix is already included in release ubuntu 18.04,
or will it be included to 18.04.1 the first time?

[Bug 1764645] Re: Bluetooth not working

2018-04-28 Thread Tim Passingham
I should add that this was a clean reinstall on re-formatted disk to the
first formal LTS release of 18.04, not an upgrade from 17.10.

I have now tried kernel 4.15.18-041518-generic #201804190330 SMP Thu Apr
19 07:34:21 UTC 2018 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

No change, still no adaptor. I'm a little reluctant to try 4.16, since
even 4.17 is said above not to help.

Where is 4.15.0.3 to be found? I tried to install ukuu as per comment
#10, but it conflicts with other software on my system.

[Bug 1754777] Re: bionic casper nfsboot not reaching desktop env, failure to mount various kernel filesystems and /tmp

2018-04-28 Thread beta-tester
1. for pxe/nfs boot, there is stated, that there is a fix released, but i guess
it will released in the first point release 18.04.1.
see
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/casper/+bug/1755863
"netbooting the bionic live CD over NFS goes straight to maintenance mode"

2. for the resolve issue i opened a separate bug report, but there is no
activity yet...
see
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/casper/+bug/1765765
"on nfsboot 18.04 bionic, internet addresses arn't resolve properly"

3. yes, with option "systemd.mask=tmp" i am able to boot successfully into
ubuntu desktop.
4. yes, when i shutdown or try to reboot, ubuntu hangs for ever.

[Bug 1767685] Re: recovery mode: recovery-menu linke 75: file or directory not found

2018-04-28 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1767685/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1746638] Re: [GeForce 6150SE nForce 430] PC freezes and crashes

2018-04-28 Thread Diogo Gomes
Christopher M. Penalver,

Apologize me, I was just following your past indications that it can be
confirmed after tested on 18.04 and answer at your previous question
like you can confirm.

2) Should I remove the old but equal logs of 16.04 and replace with the
new ones of 18.04?

3) I'm talking about the same issue and same screen, do you need a
screenshot equal to the older one?

Thank you for your time
