[Bug 1767741] [NEW] Doesn't launch in Ubuntu 18.04
Public bug reported: Clean Ubuntu 18.04. ProjectM installed with Software Center. It won't launch when you click on it. I found two bugs and here's how you fix them: 1. Error: lib-canberra-gtk not installed. Run this command to install lib-canberra-gtk and fix the error: sudo apt install libcanberra-gtk* 2. Error: In the projectM configuration file. It's looking for two paths which no longer exist: /usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-dejavu/DejaVuSans.ttf /usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-dejavu/DejaVuSansMono.ttf To fix, edit ~/.projectM/config.inp and change those two paths to: /usr/share/fonts/truetype/dejavu/DejaVuSans.ttf /usr/share/fonts/truetype/dejavu/DejaVuSansMono.ttf Now it launches and runs when you click on the projectM icon. ** Affects: projectm (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1767741 Title: Doesn't launch in Ubuntu 18.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/projectm/+bug/1767741/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1767740] [NEW] gnome-shell crashes at startup - segfault in nouveau_dri.sn
Public bug reported: With a live USB stick or a freshly installed version of 18.04, gnome- shell crashes at startup. I get this error in dmesg: gnome-shell[]: segfault at xx ip xx sp xx error 4 in nouveau_dri.so[] The computer is a MacBook Pro with a GeForce 320M GPU. Using the proprietary driver listed in the "additional drivers" tab doesn't work either (I get a black screen at startup with no access to a virtual terminal). Everything was fine on 16.04, with nouveau or nvidia drivers. The only workaround is to blacklist the nouveau driver. I have of course very poor performance then. [Bug 1727320] Re: Screen turn on/off 3 times and DP-1-3 connected but nothing is connected [latitude e7470]
(Note: I'm using Fedora, not Ubuntu - but figured, this info will still be useful to anyone affected by the bug.) I've upgraded from Fedora 27 to 28, and the bug went away. My best guess is that updating Gnome from 3.26 to 3.28 is what fixed it. (The kernel versions don't seem to have any effect.) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1727320 Title: Screen turn on/off 3 times and DP-1-3 connected but nothing is connected [latitude e7470] To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1727320/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 607999] Re: gsettings-data-convert crashed with signal 5 in g_object_newv()
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures. At a minimum, we need: 1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem. 2. The behavior you expected. 3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). Beyond that, I have not seen a bug likes this in many years. If you could provide additional information on how it affects a currently supported release, that would be most helpful. ** Changed in: gconf (Ubuntu) Status: Triaged => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/607999 Title: gsettings-data-convert crashed with signal 5 in g_object_newv() To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gconf/+bug/607999/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1767728] [NEW] /home/$USER/.cache is owned by root
Public bug reported: I´ve installed ubuntu 17.10 from a mini install with no additional packages by accident*. I then installed ubuntu-desktop using apt-get. After installing ubuntu-desktop I saw a number of issues that all appear to step from having root as the owner of ´/home/$USER/.cache´ in my profile. I´ve fixed this, with a simple chown command, but thought you should know because there are a number of symptoms that could be quite challenging for less experience users including: * Firefox won´t startup during to permissions problems with the user´s profile * Application updates is unable to get a list of available packages because it can´t access ~/.cache/gnome-software/...´ NOTE: the attached bug report shows the state of my system AFTER I applied the above fix, and it is now working. [Bug 1767685] Re: recovery mode: recovery-menu linke 75: file or directory not found
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1767685/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.
