[Bug 1769184] Re: I can't seem to upgrade to Ubuntu 18.04 from 17.10. It can't calculate changes.

2018-05-06 Thread Rob Frohne
So tonight I did $ apt update, and it said there were 3000 some updates,
so I did $ apt upgrade and now it is installing bionic. So now this bug
no longer affects me. I did try a $ do-release-upgrade recently before
this, and it claimed the upgrade couldn't be computed as usual.

I am experiencing the same issue on ubuntu 18.04.
root and home are both on btrfs, so purging the btrfs package is not an option.
During the boot the system stops and waits following the message "scanning for

[Bug 1747980] Re: kubuntu only shows on-screen keyboard on lockscreen

2018-05-06 Thread Blaze
Qt Virtual Keyboard is not supposed to be used under X session, the one
that comes with Qt 5.9 at least. You can enable it by setting a global
environment variable but better not do that. Under X it's more of a
nuisance rather than something helpful. Consider a different solution.
Status should be set to "Invalid".

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1543192 ***

It's not clear that there's an actual crash here, but rather maybe that
gdm3 can't acquire modesetting permission and can't find a display to
work with. Not sure that's going to trigger an actual crash. Still a bug
though!

[Bug 1769556] [NEW] Snap branches shown in random order

2018-05-06 Thread Robert Ancell
Public bug reported:

[Impact]
Snap branches are shown in a random order.

[Test Case]
1. Open GNOME Software
2. Search for and select "communitheme" snap
3. Select available channels (requires LP: #1768779 to be fixed).

Expected result:
Branches are shown in some predictable order.

Observed result:
Branches are shown in a random order.

[Regression Potential]
Solution is to sort branches alphabetically, could introduce new bugs in
channel code.

[Bug 1769554] [NEW] geeqie 1.4 omits key settings from preferences

2018-05-06 Thread pauljohn32
Public bug reported:

I suggest you downgrade geeqie back to version 1.3. Version 1.4 omits
quite a few settings in the preferences that have been included with
geeqie for a long time.

Preferences/Image no longer has
"When new image is selected
o Leave Zoom at previous setting
o Scroll to top left corner
o Keep the region from previous image

I have "Fit window to image" turned on under Preferences/Windows, but it
doesn't work.

With the tools floating, the images always open as tiny postage stamps.
Hitting the "1" to resize the image does cause the resize to happen, but
the window remains tiny, focused on a very small part of the larger
image. The "1" key has to be hit again to force the window resize.

Now, because the display of the images is not adjustable, it seems to
randomly focus on sections of each successive image.

** Affects: geeqie (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 1768779] Re: Snap channel selection list not scrollable

2018-05-06 Thread Robert Ancell
** Description changed:

- Ubuntu 18.04 Gnome Shell with Communitheme.
+ [Impact]
+ Snaps with many channels/branches (e.g. communitheme) make the channel
selector too large - it should use a scrollable window if there are many.

- Steps to reproduce:
+ [Test Case]
  1. Search for ”communitheme” in the store
  2. Open ”communitheme” result
  3. Click on the channel selection button
  4. You will see a popup with loong list of channels
  5. Try to scroll to see more entries

  Expected result:
  You can scroll the list

  What happen instead:
  You cannot scroll the list

- Screenshot attached
+ [Regression Potential]
+ Solution is to use a GtkScrolledWindow for the list. Could cause other UI
bugs to occur.

2. An alternative solution, which I've found works fine for many systems

[Bug 1769553] [NEW] xfs blocks on unresponsive raid - blockdev module is missing

2018-05-06 Thread Bruno Vasselle via ubuntu-bugs

# lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 18.04 LTS

udisks2: 2.7.6-3
libblockdev-mdraid2: 2.16-2

Ubuntu 18.04, freshly upgraded from 16.04 via 17.10; system ran OK for about

md3 : active raid10 sdb4[2] sda4[4]

What happened:

A "git commit" could not succeed. Process was impossible to kill. Load
reported by xload reached outstanding levels; system was still
responsive however, but impossible to halt, waiting for disk sync that
never occurred. I had to reboot the hard way.

After reboot, /home could not mount, and boot process dropped me to a
root console. I could see that mdadm reported ongoing reconstruction,
but frozen at some point. In the logs:

May 6 02:05:59 localhost udisksd[1480]: failed to load module mdraid:
libbd_mdraid.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or
directory

Actually, package libblockdev-mdraid2 is missing. Added it as well as
libblockdev-mpath2. Rebooted. mdadm starts reconstruction and is OK when
I come back from sleep.

System looks stable since then.

[Bug 1728238] Re: update-initramfs not adding i915 GuC firmware for Kaby Lake, firmware fails to load

2018-05-06 Thread mtvoid
Reverting that commit will address the firmware loading issue for both
kbl and bxt. Although as far as I understand, Intel had cancelled
Broxton, and there are no chips based on it in the market, so it's
basically Kaby Lake users that are affected.

[Bug 1727356] Re: Wayland sessions (including the login screen itself) don't start up on older Intel GPUs.

2018-05-06 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Bug confirmed by more users, including:

Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU T5500 @ 1.66GHz
Intel(R) Atom(TM) CPU N550 @ 1.50GHz

This is reminiscent of bug 1583532, so we may need to review the shaders
used in mutter/clutter/cogl.

I now agree with "High" importance.
