[Bug 1792294] [NEW] Generates unbootable initrd: Out of Memory Error

2018-09-12 Thread 殷啟聰 | Kai-Chung Yan
Public bug reported:

I am currently using Cosmic (which is not released yet) and version
0.131ubuntu10 of "initramfs-tools" always generates unbootable initrd.
After I select the kernel to boot during GRUB it says: "Loading initial
ramdisk... Error: Out of memory". And then it halts forever.

This issue appears on all kernel versions.

The system is on UEFI + GPT.

Note that I don't have a swap partition on my system, but I don't think
it's the cause.

2018-09-12 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

[Availability]
Currently in NEW queue (sync from Debian unstable)

[Rationale]
This package provides an openstackclient CLI plugin for OpenStack nova's
placement service.

[Security]
No security history

[Quality Assurance]
Package works out of the box with no prompting. There are no major bugs in
Ubuntu and there are no major bugs in Debian. Unit tests are run during build.

[Dependencies]
All are in main

[Standards Compliance]
FHS and Debian Policy compliant.

[Maintenance]
Simple python package that the OpenStack Team will take care of.

[Background]
This is an OpenStackClient plugin, that provides CLI for the Placement service.
Python API binding is not implemented - Placement API consumers are encouraged
to use the REST API directly, CLI is provided only for convenience of users.

The bug only affects those three shortcuts and ONLY if they are custom
(changed from defaults): volume up, down and mute. If I stick to
defaults everything (including other custom shortcuts) works even after
screen lock / suspend. I suspect it is connected with lightdm / unity
greeter.

2018-09-12 Thread Stephen Allen
I found that in my situation it was the upgrade not working good with some
config settings in my ~/home. When I was beta testing, I don't think the
Ubuntu developers considered that many problems are associated with
upgrades. Once I did a clean install, this situation was gone.

There is a BIOS option that will allow thunderbolt to work pre-boot, but

So this is strange, I can reproduce the bug, but an oem install in UEFI

in BIOS mode doesn't work. Which doesn't make any sense at all on the

[Bug 1685502] Re: Network manager icon appears twice on start up, from time to time

2018-09-12 Thread Prahlad Yeri
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1761606 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1761606

Its high time this bug needs to be fixed! 18.04 is the LTS branch which
is supposed to be rock solid, how can this usability bug be entertained
still now even after installing the latest security updates of bionic?

For what its worth, here is a quick fix:

xfce4-panel -r

Re: [Bug 1791537] Re: 4.15 linux kernel - unable to access the internet

2018-09-12 Thread jason
Question - as I was trying to implement the .19 kernel, I ran into issues
that appeared to be linked to Virtual Box. Per the instructions (
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds?action=show=KernelMainlineBuilds)
Virtual box would need to be removed to get around the issue. My question
is after the .19 is implemented could I then reinstall Virtualbox?

Also, could I just wait it out until the next Ubuntu update that had
another kernel update and would that fix the problem?

Thanks,
jason

To clarify -- I ran the testing with all of your kernel packages
installed and live, except for cloud-tools, which we don't use on HP
hardware (haha).

[Bug 1758306] Re: Cannot switch mouse primary button to Right (left-handed) in Settings

2018-09-12 Thread Leoncio de Queiroz Maya
Thank you Cas.
Let me answer to your suggestions.

Check all updates are installed? Try proposed updates?
I always install all updates.

Is this with mouse or trackpad?
I only use the trackpad.

Have you checked what gsettings is reporting?

gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.peripherals.mouse left-handed
true

Perhaps try a booting with a livecd ubuntu and test mouse there. I don't
have a CD with Ubuntu 18.04.

I started using Ubuntu with version 12.04 and I have updated it to
versions 14.04 and 16.04. The left-handed mode always worked fine. A
couple of weeks ago, I was offered to install version 18.04. The bug
started after the installation of this new version. I must say it is
very annoying.

[Bug 1792195] Re: Signal 7 error when running GPFS tracing in cluster

2018-09-12 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1792195/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

Hey Joseph! I just ran one of our machines through our drive power
faulting test. It survived 5 hotplug events without crashing. Usually
it's 100% repro of the crash. Seems to work. Thanks much!
