[Bug 1788681] Re: changed exit code for 'dc' in Ubuntu Bionic

2018-10-06 Thread Paul Graydon
Fix has only been released for Cosmic. Given the package is basically
non-functional on Bionic, is there a plan to backport the fix? There
doesn't seem much point in keeping it in the repository otherwise.

[Bug 1786250] Re: strongswan (charon) is rejected by apparmor to read /proc//fd

2018-10-06 Thread Yichen Wang via ubuntu-bugs
I've did couple of tests. On iOS 12, I do see this error from
/var/log/messages, but connection can still be established with xl2tpd,
and things are working fine. For Windows 10 clients, seems like it is
blocking and connection cannot be established...

Actually, do we have the plan to back ported this version to Bionic?

2018-10-06 Thread m.jackson777
Recent kernels that weren't booting:

4.15.0-33
4.15.0-34
4.15.0-36

With -36 I got a graphics error. Then I tried upgrading to 18.04.1, it
never booted at all.

I can't provide any information on errors since the screen was black
and nothing responded.

I have since restored my backup and no longer have this kernel
installed.

There is something going on that all 3 of these kernels weren't booting.

[Bug 1767560] Re: Battery graph in tray icon is inaccurate

2018-10-06 Thread Matias N. Goldberg via ubuntu-bugs
Found upstream discussion: https://forum.xfce.org/viewtopic.php?id=12138

Apparently the problem is caused because xfce4-power-manager migrated to
upower, which has only empty, caution, low, good, and full icon themes.
That's 3 states + a caution + empty. IMO that's too few.

And yes, the icon themes are misleading. In /usr/share/icons/elementary-
xfce/status/symbolic, battery-good-symbolic takes over at 30-59%,
however the icon displayed looks more like 70% full or so.

Relevant files:
battery-caution-charging-symbolic.svg
battery-caution-symbolic.svg
battery-empty-charging-symbolic.svg
battery-empty-symbolic.svg
battery-full-charged-symbolic.svg
battery-full-charging-symbolic.svg
battery-full-symbolic.svg
battery-good-charging-symbolic.svg
battery-good-symbolic.svg
battery-low-charging-symbolic.svg
battery-low-symbolic.svg

GNOME icons are consistent with this scheme (it shows 3 bars).

[Bug 1796528] [NEW] Problem with dual monitors

2018-10-06 Thread Benjamin
Public bug reported:

Machine: HP 6735s with Mobile Intel® GM45 Express Chipset
O.S. 64bit Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS
Gnome 3.28.2

I usually used an external monitor in Ubuntu 16.04 without any problem
but I've formatted and maked a clean install of Ubuntu 18.04. It works
ok when integrated monitor or external monitor are alone. If try to
extend desktop to both monitors, then integrated display go black and
only a blinking mouse arrow appears on it. External display is in closed
loop trying to start, powering on/off the backlight, like system were
trying to send image but crashing. When moving the mouse, arrow didn't
go out of the integrated monitor. When I disconnect the external
monitor, then image come back to the integrated monitor after some time.
I've tried to edit "/etc/gdm3/custom.conf" to disable wayland and use
xorg, but it's still the same. I don't know where the problem came
from... gnome, intel drivers, graphic server...

[Bug 1795998] Re: Sometimes F12 doesn't hide the drop down qterminal

2018-10-06 Thread Walter Lapchynski
** Description changed:

- The Drop Down terminal has a bug when I press F12 to hide it (tested
- with and without compton): sometimes I have to press F12 3 or 4 times to
- hide the terminal.
+ STEPS TO REPRODUCE
+ 1. Open qterminal, e.g. run `qterminal`
+ 2. Go to File → Preferences
+ 3. Click on Dropdown
+ 4. Note the value of the shortcut key, which can be optionally changed, but
defaults to F12
+ 5. Click OK
+ 6. Open qterminal dropdown, e.g. run `qterminal --drop`
+ 7. Press the shortcut key to hide the dropdown
+ 8. Press the shortcut key to show the dropdown
+ 9. Repeat 7-8 several times over

+ Shortcut hotkey toggles visibility of qterminal dropdown every time.
+
+ ACTUAL RESULTS
+ Shortcut hotkey toggles visibility of qterminal dropdown some of the time,
but is not consistent. It does not always succeed and it does not always fail.
When it fails, it appears to flicker, as if it hides and then becomes
immediately visible again.

2018-10-06 Thread Matias N. Goldberg via ubuntu-bugs
I'm not fully certain. It appears like a theme specific bug, but it
doesn't seem like the new xfce4-power-manager icon is using the theme's
icons, but rather its own internal, or perhaps I'm looking at the wrong
place.

A new bind has been pushed to bionic (1:9.11.3+dfsg-1ubuntu1.2). This is
newer than bind9 in ppa:freeipa/ppa, but does not contain the fix for
this bug. Therefore, bind9 upgrade should be prevented by helding the
ppa package, or bind9-pkcs11 will stop working.

[Bug 1774242] Re: Wacom touchscreens should use libinput, not wacom driver

2018-10-06 Thread bluecakes
Thank you so much for posting this simple fix I changed the line
from Driver "wacom" to Driver "libinput" like you said. Now multitouch
is working correctly in Kubuntu.

I have a Lenovo Flex 5 "14 (also known as the Yoga 520 outside the US)
which also uses Wacom AES hardware. I could not get multitouch to work
at all with the touchscreen. This was bad because multitouch allows me
to easily zoom/move around the canvas when I'm drawing in Krita and also
zoom and go forward/backwards in google chrome.

The touchscreen with the driver set to wacom driver is awful! In
addition to no multitouch I couldn't even do simple scrolling smoothly.
I agree that the "Wacom touchscreen class" should switch to "libinput"
drivrt by default.

Who knows how many other Lenovo flex/yoga users this confused.

[Bug 1365393] Re: Cropping tool does not function

2018-10-06 Thread JohnWashington
I've no idea what 'STRG' means.

I've used Simple Scan for years. It's really handy. Really REALLY
handy. My thanks to its author. Indeed it's open on my desktop at the
moment, I was interspersing some scans with answering mail, and one of
my mails was this bug update notification.

However, I've long meant to look at the source, because it took me
longer than it should have for me to figure out how to use it, and the
UI definitely needs a rework (IMHO).

My normal workflow:
* Item in scanner, press ctrl+1, scan completes on scanner, data is still
xferring.

* Take item out of scanner, position the next one ready.

* When data has arrived, click on Crop (why no shortcut??), slide
rectangle to top left (why can't I set prefs so that it always starts at
top left?), pull bottom right to fit image.

* Hit Enter (I'm unsure whether I need to do this, but it's become a
mantra that works for me).

* Press ctrl+1 as above, repeat all above except don't need to hit Enter
again. Each scan will have the same crop.

* Finally, press ctrl+S and get Save dialog. Save dialog ALWAYS assumes
pdf (grrr, why can't I set prefs?) although usually I want to override
it and save as multiple jpg, which works provided I select jpg as file
type.

* Press ctrl+N to completely reset, losing the crop setting, which often
I would prefer to keep. Maybe there's a less severe reset which would
retain the crop setting, but I don't know of it.

So that's my normal workflow, and I don't feel that I fully understand
what's inside the black box, concerning cropping and photo vs text.
Unlike some much more complex programs (Gimp, Office, ...) where I
really feel in charge, with Simple Scan I've arrived at a method of
doing things by rote which gets the job done, but which I'm fearful of
deviating from. I feel that's a symptom of a badly designed UI.

But since I've never invested the time to examine the source, I don't
feel I'm in any position to complain about it. I'm writing the above in
the hope that it helps someone else to use the program reliably and get
the job done, rather than (as almost happened with me), throwing in the
towel and using Gimp even for very mundane scans. I'm ever so grateful
Simple Scan exists.

[Bug 1796516] [NEW] WiFi connections are broken after update to network-manager 1.12.4

2018-10-06 Thread Simon Quigley
Public bug reported:

After updating to 1.12.4-1ubuntu1, several Lubuntu users have reported
WiFi is broken. I can reproduce this with one of my laptops.

Bringing the connection up with nmcli reveals this:

$ nmcli connection up id MY\ SUPER\ SECRET\ SSID
Error: Connection activation failed: The Wi-Fi network could not be found

After downgrading to 1.12.2-0ubuntu5 and running `sudo systemctl restart
network-manager.service`, the WiFi connects without issue.

Re: [Bug 1791457] Re: CPU governor is not carried across boot.

2018-10-06 Thread Ross Gammon
The debdiff is what some sponsors prefer to have. They download the
current version in the archive, apply the diff as a patch, and then
build & upload.

They can also just build it from the repo, and upload. But with the diff
they can easily see what has changed.

I hope it makes it on time! After one more week, the release candidate
freeze starts & then the release team will need to approve.

[Bug 1796512] [NEW] systemd starting CIFS before wireless network avaiblale

2018-10-06 Thread Rob Peters
Public bug reported:

Trying to get a wireless laptop to mount a CIFS drive at boot time.
However, keep getting error below. It appears that the attempt at
mounting the CIFS drive is taking place before the wireless network
comes online. However, I have the _netdev specified on the mount which
should delay the mount. Yes, I can create a shell script to mount the
drive but… Not sure if this is a core Ubuntu thing or you guys.

and then, running gparted on /dev/sdb , I get a yellow warning triangle and a
message in partition information :

"Unable to read the contents of this file system!
Because of this some operations may be unavailable.
The cause might be a missing software package.
The following list of software packages is required for f2fs file system
support: f2fs-tools."

can this be caused by different mkfs/fsck/kernel versions ? or this is
some overlook during gparted development ?
