[Bug 1787405] libvirt patches for vfio-ap support
--- Comment on attachment From boris_fiuczyn...@de.ibm.com 2018-11-20 02:21 EDT--- This file contains the changes required for the vfio-ap support in libvirt based on the code level Christian Erhard provided in comment 62. The list of required backported code needed to be extended and the second patch Christian provided required some changes. It also turned out that appamor prevents access to the vfio-ap devices located in /dev/vfio/*. I changed (hacked) the patch for LP1775777 to bypass the problem temporally. This certainly needs to be adjusted in the correct way which I am not certain of. ** Attachment added: "libvirt patches for vfio-ap support" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1787405/+attachment/5214397/+files/libvirt-4.0.0-bionic_vfio-ap.tar.gz -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1787405 Title: [FEAT] Guest-dedicated Crypto Adapters To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-z-systems/+bug/1787405/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1192613] Re: libHYPRE.so is not linked to other libHYPRE* libs
Hi Alexander, Luke, as you have noticed there is no specific Ubuntu maintainer for HYPRE. The package is rebuilt directly from the underlying Debian version. Debian has a separate workflow from Ubuntu, and a separate bug tracking system. This situation is the same for most packages in the Ubuntu universe archive, the packages fully managed by Ubuntu are the ones in Ubuntu main. That's very likely a duplicate of bug #1699772. [Bug 1752437]
First if all thank you Lukas, for pinpointing the problem. I don't see any really obvious nice answer here. So I believe it is best to override the IRQ type manually in the AMD gpio driver to correct the acpi_get_override_irq() results from the ACPI core. I've attached a patch doing this to bug 199523. If someone who is seeing this issue can build and test a kernel with that patch (replacing Lukas patch) that would be great. To be clear please drop Lukas' patch when testing mine! If you test my patch, please provide the output of "dmesg" directly after boot and let me know if the patch fixes things (makes/keeps the touchscreen working). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1752437 Title: [HP ENVY x360 - 15-bq102ng] Touchscreen does not work To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/kernel/+bug/1752437/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1752437]
(In reply to Lukas Kahnert from comment #76) > This error happens because your patch only fixes the mis-detection of the > IRQ. There ist still https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=199529 > which needs also bei fixed to get the touchscreen work. Right, I figured that out now, actually I believe that with your hack to drivers/acpi/resource.c the changes you made to drivers/base/platform.c should no longer be necessary. We've been looking at the wrong part of the DSDT the culprit is not: Interrupt (ResourceConsumer, Level, ActiveLow, Shared, ,, ) { 0x0007, } This uses an extended interrupt syntax, so acpi_dev_get_irqresource() gets called with legacy == false and the troublesome acpi_get_override_irq() never happens. I believe the real culprit is: Scope (_SB.PCI0) { Device (SMBD) { Name (_HID, "SMB0001") // _HID: Hardware ID Name (_CRS, ResourceTemplate () // _CRS: Current Resource Settings { IO (Decode16, 0x0B20, // Range Minimum 0x0B20, // Range Maximum 0x20, // Alignment 0x20, // Length ) IRQ (Level, ActiveLow, Shared, ) {7} }) } } Which does use a legacy style IRQ resource, this causes acpi_dev_get_irqresource() to be called with legacy == true and then the troublesome acpi_get_override_irq() happens. I believe that this troublesome node gets parsed before the AMDI0030 node and then by the time the AMDI0030 node happens, inside acpi_dev_get_irqresource() we hit the else of: irq = acpi_register_gsi(NULL, gsi, triggering, polarity); if (irq >= 0) { res->start = irq; res->end = irq; } else { acpi_dev_irqresource_disabled(res, gsi); } Which sets the DISABLED flag, which is causing the issue in drivers/base/platform.c . The reason we hit the else path is because of the earlier enumeration of the same interrupt with conflicting trigger / polarity settings so the second one fails with -EBUSY (it would work if the flags would match). My new attempt deals with this by adding the "SMB0001" HID to the blacklist for creating platform devices, so that acpi_dev_get_resources() does not get called on it at all, avoiding the call of acpi_dev_get_irqresource() with legacy == false. The not creating of a platform_device for the "SMB0001" HID is not an issue since the driver for it is an acpi bus driver not a platform bus driver.

[Bug 1804137] [NEW] Font-Manager does not allow custom prevew text
Public bug reported: In 18.04. Allowing custom preview text is absolutely crucial for a font preview tool, and it's been something font-manager has always had. It's so easy to implement, I can't see any no reason to remove such an important feature. [Bug 1792144] Re: missing patch for i915 in 4.15.0-33-generic => black screen on boot
I have the same bug on a similar motherboard - Asrock j4105-itx (j4105 CPU, asmedia asm1061, realtek rtl8111h) After the boot sequence KUbuntu 18.04 fully updated to Nov-19-2018 Bios 4.0.0.1245Intel GOP 13.0.1011 I doubt this is the same as the freedesktop 105549 bug since the hardware is quite different (no lspcon chip on this motherboard) Also note that the problem only arises when a disk is connected to one of the asmedia sata ports on this motherboard. If no disk on asmedia all is good. No HDMI or DVI screen if disk on asmedia port Windows (8.1) does not experience this issue BUT does not have drivers for this chip at all (Vesa only)> I don't currently have access to Windows 10 When the VGA port is connected to a screen then BOTH the vga and hdmi / dvi screens are active ie. the hdmi / dvi output is live if vga simultaneously connected ... though vga is primary May be spurious, but fwiw, under these conditions ... The system will not power down correctly (even if both VGA and hdmi / dvi connected). Powerdown seems to stop after a message about "ata3 SError" "failed command STANDBY IMMEDIATE" and then a manual power off is required Any debug data I can provide ? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1792144 Title: missing patch for i915 in 4.15.0-33-generic => black screen on boot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1792144/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1804134] [NEW] LibreOffice Writer Won't Run on Pentium-4 32-bit Computer
Public bug reported: On a Dell GX-270 (Intel 32-bit) computer running Lubuntu 18.04, I can run LibreOffice, but when I select LibreOffice Writer the LibreOffice window disappears, and nothing happens, as if the application just terminated normally, without doing anything. An AppPort window reporting an error appeared, but when I clicked its "Send" button, the window disappeared without doing anything. If I run LibreOffice Writer directly from the menu, I get a frame of its window (with nothing filled-in inside), which persists for awhile, and then disappears. In either case, no error message appears, and nothing further happens. LibreOffice Calc, on the other hand, appears to run, though I haven't tried any spreadsheet using it. [Bug 1804130] [NEW] package initramfs-tools 0.130ubuntu3.5 failed to install/upgrade: installed initramfs-tools package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 1
Public bug reported: This happened on a near-fresh install of 18.04 on a new computer. I was having trouble getting the NVIDIA proprietary drivers working. So I did quite a bit of install/uninstall cycles, failing to get the NVIDIA drivers working. I couldn't seem to get the NVIDIA drivers to work. I just recently discovered the reason -- I had the UEFI secure boot setup. So I disabled UEFI using the mokutil --disable-validation command. This crash occured on a system reboot. I imagine I can fix my setup from here. I'll update the thread, regardless of the outcome. I think perhaps Ubuntu would benefit from a warning, during the installation process that UEFI secure boot can cause problems such as this. Also, when installing NVIDIA drivers with the "Software and Updates" GUI, there should be some indication of the problems if the UEFI secure boot is enabled. Perhaps users should be blocked from attempting the install, and pointed towards mokutil. You will likely then need the fix or workaround for bug 1727356 too. ** Changed in: ubuntu Status: Expired => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1793428 Title: Video after upgrading is only 1024x768 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1793428/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Reviewing your dmesg attachment in this bug report it seems that there is a problem with your hardware. Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. [Bug 1803993] [NEW] GDM is Exploitable as a Password Collector
*** This bug is a security vulnerability *** You have been subscribed to a public security bug by Seth Arnold (seth-arnold): This was found when an administrative error made /home directory inaccessible. Any users that tried to login after that, were not able to (which is expected) but their password appears on the VT1 screen. Under normal circumstances, VT1 is not visible. But once the system was sent into this compromised mode, one can press ctrl+alt+F1 and then ctrl+alt+F2 and get a momentary glance at VT1. One can keep toggling between these key combinations in order to make out the password(s) on VT1. As a further test, I wanted to see if a non-super user could cause this condition, and it is in fact possible. As a regular user, I made their own home directory not writable and then removed ~/.config and logged out. Then logged in as that user again, and although that user can't login the system does go into that mode where passwords appear on VT1 and are viewable with the key combinations mentioned herein. Further, any other users that login will see no problem, but when they logon their passwords also appear on VT1 and are viewable. [Bug 1776616] Re: Ubuntu 18.04 getting stuck at "Starting Reboot" and "Starting Power-Off"
Ugh, tab key did a submit! Launchpad needs some work. So, in summary: - with "acpi=off noapic", all kernels can reboot but hang during shutdown - without "acpi=off noapic", <= 4.5.7 can reboot and shutdown, but later kernels hang during both reboot and shutdown. Since I can't run the ancient kernels forever, I'm adding "acpi=off noapic" and will just live with the hang during shutdown. Fortunately, the filesystem appears to close before hang, so I don't have filesystem corruptions when I start up the next time. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1776616 Title: Ubuntu 18.04 getting stuck at "Starting Reboot" and "Starting Power- Off" To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1776616/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thanks! Your feedback sounds like the missing piece to this puzzle.
