[Bug 1822395] [NEW] do-release-upgrade dies cosmic to disco (x crash to empty pty)
Public bug reported: I performed a 'sudo do-release-upgrade --devel' from cosmic to disco tonight under X from gnome-terminal. In the middle of the upgrade the screen changed from X to a black screen with a unblinking text cursor in the upper left corner. CTRL-ALT-F[1-9] did nothing and I heard the CPU fan spin down (it had been on during the entire upgrade). After 10m I held down the power button and forcibly powered the machine down. Powering on the machine it booted to a getty on a pty where I logged in and sudo'd to root. I ran 'apt-get install -f', 'apt full-upgrade', and lastly 'apt autoremove --purge', then I rebooted and things came back to life. The system seems happy now. [Bug 1822394] [NEW] laptop keyboard & touchpad not working at gdm screen after boot
Public bug reported: On a dell XPS 15 2-in-1 with the latest 1.4.0 bios, my touchpad and keyboard are unresponsive at the gdm login screen. Keyboard works to unlock encrypted harddrive before that though. If I plug in a USB keyboard or activate my bluetooth mouse, I can use those to log in, and then after logging in the laptop touchpad and keyboard work again. Logging out of the desktop results in the laptop touchpad and keyboard working on the gdm screen. Did not see this behavior before upgrading from 1.2.0 bios to 1.4.0 bios, but also had not rebooted in a while, so not sure if bios or package upgrades triggered this behavior. [Bug 1820929] Re: netplan should consider adding more udev attribute for exact matching of failover 3-netdev interfaces
So what's your opinion for the disposition? I don't mind moving this bug to initramfs-tools, but without having a way to identify the 3-netdev master interface in netplan yaml config, thing still don't work there. I'm not in a position to tell if it's possible for initramfs-tools to remove the "match by mac" in the /run/netplan/.yaml config file. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1820929 Title: netplan should consider adding more udev attribute for exact matching of failover 3-netdev interfaces To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/netplan/+bug/1820929/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 1822240] Re: Installer doesn't like Kogan 360 laptop.
I did, instead of the alpha version I tried the beta (unsure which beta), same result, but this time I managed to make it to the 'enter your details' page, when it terminated with thew same error message, which I really hope the bug-report contained. I will trry again with another different iso I downloaded, just as a you mentioned, but I'm 1 minus 1 for clues. Thank you for replying. [Bug 1811471] Re: local resolver stub fails to handle multiple TCP dns queries
The fix (workaround) for this bug in bionic and cosmic was to add 'options edns0' to the /etc/resolv.conf file via the systemd stub- resolv.conf file. However, when the resolvconf package is installed, due to bug 1817903, the 'options edns0' is stripped out of the /etc/resolv.conf file. This means anyone on bionic or cosmic that has the resolvconf package installed will not have 'options edns0' in their /etc/resolv.conf file, and will again experience this bug. In disco, systemd-resolved has DNS TCP pipelining correctly implemented, so this bug will not affect disco, regardless of whether edns0 is specified in /etc/resolv.conf. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1811471 Title: local resolver stub fails to handle multiple TCP dns queries To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/systemd/+bug/1811471/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
