[Bug 1821663] Re: [snd_hda_codec_realtek] repeating crackling noise after 19.04 upgrade

2019-03-30 Thread Hui Wang
I checked the new patches between rc3 and rc4, there are only some minor
changes. In theory they will not introduce this problem.

Please test this dkms on the rc4, this dkms contains the same driver as
rc3, let us test kernel-rc4+hda sound driver-rc3 and see if the noise
still happens or not.

sudo dpkg -i oem-audio-hda-daily-dkms_rc3_all.deb
reboot
check if there is still noise

thx.

[Bug 1769016] Re: nsswitch.conf doesn't specify 'resolve' to support systemd-resolved

2019-03-30 Thread Ubfan
The necessary (for systemd-resolvd to work properly) package libnss-
resolve is still not included with Ubuntu 18.04 nor Ubuntu 18.10
installs. Manually adding the package fixed the name resolution
problems on an otherwise unaltered installation using DHCP from a
gateway.

[Bug 1822363] Re: Booting hangs when USB 3.0 Etron EJ168 PCI card is detected

2019-03-30 Thread Mike
11.10 works without any problem with card and devices connected.
disco-desktop-amd64.iso Ubuntu 19.4 hangs like Ubuntu 18.4 in the same manner.
It must be something in xhci-pci.c driver broken. It is important to me and
should be avoided by:
1) skipping error when it can't be resolved during boot (it shouldn't prevent
Ubuntu 18.4-19.4 system load)
2) the xhci should be "unbuged" besouse it is workable in 11.10.

I would suggest at minimum including virtio_blk.ko in the initrd that's
downloadable in the directory, so people can skip running half the
installer to have it be present.

[Bug 1822446] [NEW] [B450M DS3H, Realtek ALC887-VD, Green Headphone Out, Front]

2019-03-30 Thread Mike
Public bug reported:

Sound from youtube in playing firefox is distorted. After waiting a half
hour the problem went away. i then tried to file a bug report. while
playing the first set of test tones the test tone played fine after it
finished the youtube audio was distorted again. then the second set of
test tones from the troubleshooter played and were distorted as well.

Also in the summary it ended up saying "FRONT" but it is the rear green
jack on my motherboard that i am plugged into.

[Bug 1822004] Re: User Namespace fails with Docker Snap - AppArmor profile too restrictive

Note: it seems that probably after a reboot, snap resetted the AppArmor
profile to the default, so breaking my dockerd installation. Therefore
there is no really a work around and it requires a proper patch.

[Bug 1791427] Re: Touchpad and/or trackpoint stop working after S3 suspend on Lenovo X1 Carbon 6th

2019-03-30 Thread Thorsten
Hi, please make sure you have followed all the steps posted by AaronMa
(#94):

1. ensure that the i2c-i801 is loaded! Ubuntu currently blacklists this module
by default in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf - Thus, the patches won’t have any
effect.
2. ensure that your touchpad AND trackpoint firmware is updated

Troubleshooting:
1. Maybe something went wrong during your kernel build/patching. Try the kernel
from AaronaMa in #94. Does the issue still occur?
1. AaronaMa has implemented the touchpad nosleep option as described in #133
and #155
you can activate it with echo 1 > /sys/devices/rmi4-00/nosleep but you have to
do this after every boot.

If it is still not working, you have to provide logs like
dmesg/journalctl. Moreover, try following the steps in #94

[Bug 1822441] [NEW] Blank screen after startup

2019-03-30 Thread Torsten Römer
Public bug reported:

Updated from kubuntu 18.10 to 19.04 beta without problems. After first
reboot, first the kubuntu logo, then just a blank screen, no login
screen. Switching to console and log in there possible. All seems fine,
including wlan etc.

systemd status sddm says sddm is running, any attempt to start KDE
(including startkde) however fails with "could not connect to any x
display".

This happens with Kernel 5.0.0. Starting with 4.18.0-16-generic, the
login screen comes up and all is fine.

Anything I can contribute?

[Bug 1821849] Re: LibreOffice Impress 6.2.2.2 Embedded Video Problem

2019-03-30 Thread Sam Colegrove
Disco's release is the 18 April and the next version, 6.2.3, of
LibreOffice is 15-21 April.

Currently no one has been assigned to solve this problem and when this
happens, I hope that person can "Pull a Rabbit out of a Hat" and quickly
solve the problem.

In the meantime, I have LibreOffice 6.1.4.2 locked-in on this version of
Disco and working to my satisfaction.

Given the short time to Disco's release, please consider going back to
LibreOffice 6.1.4.2, so that no one has "egg on their face" on the
release date.

[Bug 1822439] [NEW] gnome-control-center bluetooth panel broken with i3

2019-03-30 Thread Daniele Varrazzo
Public bug reported:

piro@makkuro:~$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS
Release:18.04

gnome-control-center doesn't display bluetooth adapter when run under i3: the
panel only shows the text:

```
No Bluetooth Found
Plug in a dongle to use Bluetooth.
```

Adapters are correctly displayed if the same user connects with gnome.
Other panels work correctly in i3.

Running the panel from command line, when the tab is selected, the
following log is displayed:

```
[Bug 1821641] Re: [HP Elitebook 840 G1] Screen is upside down on 19.04 daily
2019-03-30 Thread Woodcarver
I have now reverted all the way back to the kernel I use on 18.04 (4.15)
and the issue still happens.
The accelerometer position in both 18.04 and 19.04
(/sys/devices/platform/lis3lv02d/) read the same.
Attached is a video of the moment when the flip occurs, just before the
desktop loads. Sorry for filming the screen like a savage.
[Bug 1804513] Re: Cosmic: Mixxx 2.1.3 is not stable with Qt5
2019-03-30 Thread Daniel Schürmann
I have tried to improve the initial post. Is it OK like that?
-
-  * Mixxx 2.1.3 builds with Qt5 but the support is experimental. The
-resulting binary is untested and suffering bugs.
+ [Impact]
-  * We as Mixxx team do not support 2.1.x qt5 builds. So the user is pretty
-alone with issues with throws a bad light on Mixxx.
+  Mixxx 2.1 a Qt4 release was accidentally linked against Qt5. It suffers
+ some critical issues which are fixed in the 2.2 release linked against
+ QT5 the outstanding issues are:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1530697
+
+  Other non critical changes are:
+  * Vectorize remaining raster graphics for better HiDPI support.
+  * Add mix mode switch (Dry/Wet vs Dry+Wet) for effect units.
+  * Add support for LV2 effects plugins (currently no way to show plugin GUIs).
+  * Add preference option for selecting which effects are shown in the list of
available effects in the main window (all LV2 effects are hidden by default
and must be explicitly enabled by users).
+  * Add 8 sampler and small sampler options to LateNight.
+  * Add key / BPM expansion indicators to Deere decks.
+  * Add skin settings menu to LateNight.
+  * Add controller mapping for Numark Mixtrack Platinum.
+  * Update controller mapping for Numark N4.
+  * Add spinback and break for Vestax VCI-400 mapping.
+  * Add preference option to adjust the play position marker of scrolling
+  * Add preference option to adjust opacity of beatgrid markers on scrolling
waveforms.
+  * Support IRC/AIM/ICQ broadcast metadata.
  [Regression Potential]
-
-  * Issues due to the new Dry/Wet vs Dry+Wet option
-
-  * Issues due to LV2 effects
-
-  * Issues due to Skin improvements.
-
-  * 2.2.0 is released 2018-12-17 and has proved to have no Qt5
-unrelated regressions. It suffers still some GL related issues on some
-display manager / GPU combinations in the same way as the released Cosmic
-version
-
+  Mixxx 2.2 was mainly the Qt5 release with many fixes around Qt. There
Same problem there, also Dell M4800, I am using latest ubuntu 18.10 and it was
working until I installed latest nvidia-driver-418. I do not why. There is
suspicious message in dmesg.
(If I uninstall the nvidia driver it is still not working and reinstalling of
alsa-driver also did not help.)
It seems to me that everything is working just some GPIO actually does
not enable the output. The system detects the headphones correctly.
2019-03-30 Thread Thomas Mortagne
Fresh install of Ubuntu 18.10 (I did not configured or installed
anything yet) and I can't fully upgrade. I get the following error:
tuska@tuska-G3-3779:~$ sudo apt dist-upgrade
You might want to run 'apt --fix-broken install' to correct these.
[Bug 1804513] Re: Cosmic: Mixxx 2.1.3 is not stable with Qt5
2019-03-30 Thread Daniel Schürmann
We have a quite good experience with 2.2.0 on Linux since the release,
no QT unrelated regressions.
We have some regressions tracked here
https://launchpad.net/mixxx/+milestone/2.2.1 due to QT5 though.
The current Cosmic version already suffers these issues.
[Bug 1822428] [NEW] Pressing super key brings up menu with no way to make it go away
2019-03-30 Thread ph
Public bug reported:
If I accidentally press the Super key (or Windows key), it apparently
goes into some kind of Overview format and shows a window of commands
that could be typed. It's a pretty dark black window (just barely
translucent) and takes up most of the screen.
The problem is that the window won't go away once it shows up. Pressing
the Super key again repeatedly does not make it go away. Waiting does
not make it go away. Pressing escape, or hitting control q or hitting
control c does not make it go away. The only thing I've figured out how
to do is reboot the computer which is extremely inconvenient.
It seems to be a bug.
1) Ubuntu version 18.04.2 LTS
2) ubuntu-bug wants to know what package and I don't know how to figure out
what package that is. All I know is it's the super key. I tried gnomu-unity and
gnome and it said no packages matching gnome.
3) what I expected to happen is having some way to make the menu go away again
(probably by continuing to press the Super key a couple more times) or by
pressing Esc... but it does not go away unless I reboot the computer.
4) what happened instead is see above. I tried various things to make it go
away and none of them worked.
[Bug 1822426] [NEW] 19.04 Built in Intel HDA sound is disabled upon resume
2019-03-30 Thread Darin Miller
Public bug reported:
With 19.04, Intel Corporation 8 Series/C220 Series Chipset High
Definition Audio Controller intermittently is not enabled when resuming
from sleep. The HDMI sound device is enabled but that is not hooked up
on my system.  New with 19.04, when sound works after resume, an icon
labeled "Built in Audio Stereo" appears during the resume process.
Unsure if this is related, but sound seems to sleep when not in use.
Launching sound enabled apps produces a quiet "tick, thud" sound as
sound system turns on.
When sound is not working, killall pusleaudio "fixes" the issue.
