[Bug 1738263] Re: Touchpad not working and locking CPU
So I updated to Disco with the touchpad on the Asus GL702VD and for the most part, it works, I can right click and left click and use 2 fingers to scroll, however, while I tail the /var/log/syslog I get a bunch of the following errors that repeat, where with the 4.18 kernel these are suppressed: May 3 05:16:56 ubuntu /usr/lib/gdm3/gdm-x-session[1719]: (EE) event5 - ELAN1200:00 04F3:3090 Touchpad: kernel bug: Touch jump detected and discarded. I also get the following error from the syslog: May 3 05:16:58 ubuntu kernel: [ 424.991449] i2c_designware i2c_designware.0: i2c_dw_handle_tx_abort: lost arbitration The only way to get it to work is to reboot the system. Also, the only way I could get Disco to work was in Graphic safe mode otherwise the system boots, and then locks up shortly after starting the desktop. I tried to boot up using modeset.nouveau=0 but it still locks up requiring a hard reset. However, in graphics safe mode, the system is useable. Once I install Ubuntu and use the proprietary nVidia graphics, I can then use the Fx buttons again and most of the shortcut Fn buttons work (calculator, fan control, brightness, contrast still do not work from press Fn+F5-F8 and I cannot put it in airplane mode (fn+F12) but sleep mode does work (Fn+F11) I can provide more details/logs if you let me know what you need. [Bug 1807962] Re: please allow alg socket for af-alg
Hi Daniel, since af-alg is part of the very uncommonly used -extra-plugins and a fix for the user is trivially available this was not backported to not affect any existing systems (suddenly activating more function on an SRU update). The fix (if affected and important to you) prior to Ubuntu 19.04 is to edit: /etc/apparmor.d/local/usr.sbin.swanctl and there add the line: # for af-alg plugin network alg seqpacket, That will fix the issue for you as well then. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1807962 Title: please allow alg socket for af-alg To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/strongswan/+bug/1807962/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

HDMI issue on optimus laptops (e.g. HP Spectre x360 - 15) can be fixed by disabling modesetting in the following file: sudo vi /lib/modprobe.d/nvidia-kms.conf # This file was generated by nvidia-prime # Set value to 0 to disable modesetting options nvidia-drm modeset=0 After this prime switching works correctly and HDMI works for NVIDIA card. [Bug 1783085] Re: open-vm-tools-dkms 2:10.0.7-3227872-5ubuntu1~16.04.2: open-vm-tools kernel module failed to build [error: implicit declaration of function ‘init_timer_deferrable’]
Hi, this is a bit of a special case, let me try to add some info. The DKMS module fails - yes, but that module isn't needed at all anymore. This DKMS provided - vmhgfs which is replaced with fuse - and all other modules are part of the kernel - the only module left being installed by it is the vmxnet driver, which is deprecated in favor of the in kernel "vmxnet3" module Due to the above it was first dropped from recommends in 2:10.1.5-5055683-4 (https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=860857) requested by VMWare. And later on completely dropped as it really isn't needed at all. In your particular case there would be the backport of 10.2 "2:10.2.0-3~ubuntu0.16.04.1" which is recommended for plenty of new fixes/features in particular to work with new VMWare versions. And among many other changes this will drop the dkms package and therefore resolve the issue building it against the newer kernel. I hope the explanation helps to understand the case here, but the bug is "fixed" in the new version. ** Bug watch added: Debian Bug tracker #860857 https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=860857 ** Changed in: open-vm-tools (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1783085 Title: open-vm-tools-dkms 2:10.0.7-3227872-5ubuntu1~16.04.2: open-vm-tools kernel module failed to build [error: implicit declaration of function ‘init_timer_deferrable’] To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/open-vm-tools/+bug/1783085/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1827407] Re: Touchpad scrolling becomes glitchy or unresponsive
It's likely caused by the kernel. You should have some older kernel versions installed, but if not, you can install them via 'apt install linux-image-4.15.0-NN-generic' where NN is a number. 18.04 released with -20 (I think..), so pick something after that and 'bisect' these builds until you find the first version where it broke. Remember to select the correct kernel from the boot menu. apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: Hopefully all the necessary info is in the extra stuff that automatically got sent. Basically, I didn't do anything fancy, but audio recorded with my microphone (through Skype, and arecord in the Terminal) has tons of static and the voice is distorted or saturated. [Bug 1827194] Re: Loading a subtitled mkv file while already playing a subtitled mkv file makes the UI freeze
Yes Sebastien, a .crash file appears in /var/crash/ if I killall -ABRT totem. However, as there's so much talk of crashing, I want to stress that the entire program has not crashed. It still listens, and obeys, a click on the close button. I just noticed that you can even navigate the UI and even load a new (not subtitled) file and it'll play. The issue comes from playing one subtitled video, trying to load a new (or the same) subtitled video, and the video portion of the UI getting stuck and the video not playing. In previous versions of Ubuntu, trying this meant a full crash. Clicking the close button led to a wait for the force quit option. But now in 19.04, the program is alive. It just can't play the video. It's not an issue of the video being paused either, clicking the play/pause button does nothing and the seek bar can't be interacted with. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1827194 Title: Loading a subtitled mkv file while already playing a subtitled mkv file makes the UI freeze To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/totem/+bug/1827194/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps: 1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run: ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug. 2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine. Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please send the links to us. 3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921, reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1. Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are unable to process them as file attachments. [Bug 1827417] Re: Ubuntu 16.04 - EMU10K1 / CT4832 lost ability to listen stereo on headphones - there is upmixed surround only.
Thanks for the bug report. Firstly, please run this command to send us more information about the machine: apport-collect 1827417 and in future you can avoid that by reporting bugs using the 'ubuntu- bug' command. Secondly, it sounds to me that this regression would most likely have been the result of a kernel update, as audio regressions often are. [Bug 1827354] Re: Ubuntu 18.04 Desktop reports error on startup
When you get the "error" dialog that means something crashed, so... It would also be a security risk for yourself. ** Changed in: pulseaudio (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1827354 Title: Ubuntu 18.04 Desktop reports error on startup To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/1827354/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1827446] Re: Unable to switch back to nvidia after suspend on intel
The issue happens also when I am using lightdm This is the result of my nvidia-smi https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/sj2bF3vxPd/ The dmesg when I have the issue: https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/sj2bF3vxPd/ ** Description changed: I am not sure that it is something that an issue caused by nvidia-prime or if it is something that is cause in the drivers or if it is a bug with the kernel itself, cause it seems to be a problem with Linux PM, so this bug could be moved if needed *** What's Wrong? *** As the title states, I am unable to use the Nvidia GPU when I have changed profile for intel then computer on suspend for more than 30 minutes ( This has to be determined precisely how long until I get the issue ) and then set back the profile to nvidia. So basically, it seems that the nvidia modules are unable to be loaded, I have tried to fix the issue using bbswitch. It doesn't work neither, if the /sys/bus/pci/devices/\:01\:00.0/power/control is set to auto, I am unable to load the kernel modules anymore. *** What do I expect *** Well, I was hoping that I would be able to keep my laptop on and simply switch from one GPU to other seamlessly. It is, until I put my laptop on suspend for an extended time while I am on powersaving mode ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 19.04 Package: nvidia-prime 0.8.10 Uname: 5.0.0-14-generic #15-Ubuntu x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia_uvm nvidia_modeset nvidia Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: MATE CurrentDM: GDM3 Date Thursday May 2nd 2019 7:49 PM InstallationDate: Installed on (0 days ago) SourcePackage: nvidia-prime UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (fresh install) Description: Ubuntu 19.04 Release: 19.04 nvidia-prime: - Installed: 0.8.10 - Candidate: 0.8.10 - Version table: - *** 0.8.10 500 - 500 http://ca.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu disco/main amd64 Packages - 500 http://ca.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu disco/main i386 Packages - 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status - + Installed: 0.8.10 + Candidate: 0.8.10 + Version table: + *** 0.8.10 500 + 500 http://ca.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu disco/main amd64 Packages + 500 http://ca.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu disco/main i386 Packages + 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status /var/lib/dpkg/status -> https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/McmJHRgjTH/ https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/Pxnw7mDmzQ/ -> dmesg before issue - MORE dmesg will come, need to get fresh data! * ** Tags added: nvidia ** Tags added: nvidia-prime optimus -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1827446 Title: Unable to switch back to nvidia after suspend on intel To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nvidia/+bug/1827446/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
