[Bug 1822973] Re: Clicking link in slack snap under KDE causes infinite loop of retrying xdg-open

2019-05-11 Thread Peyton Seigo
Confirmed on Kubuntu 19.04. Any clicked links will open in the browser
several minutes later. The time between each link actually opening in
the browser (in my case, Firefox, but it also happens with Chrome) does
not seem to be proportional to the time between clicks.

I have noticed the bug in Visual Studio Code and Slack, both installed
with snap. I cannot reproduce the bug in the .deb version of Slack.

[Bug 1827884] Re: Boot problems after upgrade to kernel 4.15.0-48 (18.04.2LTS/i386)

2019-05-11 Thread Brad Evans
I have two old Dell computers which experience a problem similar to what
Michael describes. They work fine at Linux 4.15.0-47 but at 4.15.0-48
they show a corrupted display while booting. I can revert to 4.15.0-47
and await a fix.

I will attach the output file of ubuntu-bug made in 4.15.0-48 recovery
mode.

[Bug 1828136] Re: [Intel DH67CL, Realtek ALC892, Grey SPDIF Out, Rear] No sound at all

2019-05-11 Thread Hui Wang
E: [autospawn] core-util.c: Home directory not accessible: Permission
denied

I printed out the "Home directory" on my computer, it is
/home/$my_account, and the USER of pulseaudio is $my_account too
(through ps -aux"), then there is no "Permission denied" problem.

In the pulseaudio, it will check the USER of home dir and USER of
pulseaudio daemon, if they don't equal, it will have "Permission denied"
problem.

[Bug 1827751] Re: Lock screen displayed after screen blanking even when lock screen disabled

2019-05-11 Thread Jason Gambrel
Also tried editing /etc/default/acpi-support and commenting out the line
LOCK_SCREEN=true.  That did not work.

Just found a workaround that seems to take care of the problem. Install
the Gnome Extension: Disable Screen Shield and activate it. The lock
screen no longer appears after screen blanking.

+ Affected snaps:
+ gnome-characters
+ gnome-calculator
+ gnome-logs
+ gnome-system-monitor
+ libreoffice
+ evince
+ gnome-contacts
+ eog

  Symptoms

I'm using the communitheme and gnome-characters snap on Ubuntu 18.04 which
broke at some point about two month ago. Screenshots are here:
https://askubuntu.com/q/1142291/40581

I found that ~/snap/gnome-characters/current/themes is a broken link
even when removing the respective snap folder for the app, removing and
then reinstalling the gnome-characters snap. This has worked before,
please take a look at this.

In the meantime I fixed this with the following commands, according the
  the error message:

  rm ~/snap/gnome-characters/current/.themes
  cp -av /snap/communitheme/current/share/themes
~/snap/gnome-characters/current/.themes

[Bug 1828136] Re: [Intel DH67CL, Realtek ALC892, Grey SPDIF Out, Rear] No sound at all

2019-05-11 Thread Adrian Mariano
I already posted the log file a.txt in its entirety. Here it is again:

D: [pulseaudio] conf-parser.c: Parsing configuration file '/etc/pulse/client.con
f'
E: [autospawn] core-util.c: Home directory not accessible: Permission denied
W: [autospawn] lock-autospawn.c: Cannot access autospawn lock.
E: [pulseaudio] main.c: Failed to acquire autospawn lock

I'm guessing that the failure of autospawn prevented anything else from
being logged.

[Bug 1657976] Re: 'u' character is rendered smaller than it should

2019-05-11 Thread Aditya Bhargava
I don't think I would have explicitly select the OTF version---if it was
being used, it was being done behind the scenes. But I'm not seeing this
issue on 18.04.2. Feel free to close if it's otherwise justified.

[Bug 1818881] Re: ath10k_pci crashing

2019-05-11 Thread Djcater
I have a 2019 Dell XPS 13 (9380). I bought the Developer Edition from
Dell which came with Ubuntu 18.04.

I recently wiped it and installed 19.04 fresh from the ISO.

I am also getting Wi-Fi crashes.

This is the chip (from sudo lspci -vvv) which is the same as the one
listed by the reporter of this bug:

02:00.0 Network controller: Qualcomm Atheros QCA6174 802.11ac Wireless Network
Adapter (rev 32)
Subsystem: Bigfoot Networks, Inc. QCA6174 802.11ac Wireless Network
Adapter (Killer 1435 Wireless-AC)

And the kernel:

Linux daniel-XPS-13-9380 5.0.0-13-generic #14-Ubuntu SMP Mon Apr 15
14:59:14 UTC 2019 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

I will try and capture some logs next time it happens and upload them
here.

1. Open a video in Totem, MPV or YouTube
2. Make the video full-screen
3. Press the keyboard keys to change volume or brightness to show an OSD
4. Notice the video flicker ONCE the OSD disappears (as if it destroys the
graphics behind it for a second)
5. Keep trying to show an OSD, changing volume or brightness, until you see the
bug because sometimes it doesn't happen the first time and not consistently

[Bug 1827010] Re: Docker does not start

2019-05-11 Thread Leo Iannacone
I fixed it by removing the '-.mount' file from the system. Looks like
that during the upgrade that link got broken. This potential affect
other services, not only docker.

Try:
systemd-analyze unit-paths | while read line ; do echo $line ; cd $line
2>/dev/null && find -name '*-.mount' 2>/dev/null ; done ;

In my case:
sudo rm /run/systemd/system/-.mount

Hi Jimmy, sorry about the trouble you're facing. The transition from
6.1.5 to 6.1.6 saw libreoffice-ogltrans merge into libreoffice-impress,
though unfortunately it looks like the control file is not configured
correctly to facilitate that replacement.

You'll need to run the following to complete the upgrade at this point:

sudo apt --fix-broken install

What Utilities folder?

In my nine years of using Ubuntu and dabbling with other distributions
I've never seen any reference to "Utilities". I'm removing "100

reorganisation in Ubuntu or indeed in any other Linux distribution. See

[Bug 1828685] [NEW] openssh-server will not start at boot if ListenAddress is set to an address delivered by radvd

2019-05-11 Thread Jean-Marie Delapierre
Public bug reported:

The /etc/systemd/system/sshd.service file does not request radvd (if
installed).

If one sets ListenAddress to the interface address set by radvd,
openssh-server crashes at boot time because there is no address affected
to the interface.

A subsequent "sudo systemctl start ssh.service" works fine.

We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to review all

Ubuntu 14.04 (trusty) reached end-of-life on April 25,2019.

Does anyone still see a problem related to the one that was reported
using a currently supported version of Ubuntu? Please let us know if you
do and in which version of Ubuntu otherwise this report can be left to
expire in approximately 60 days time.

Thank you for helping make Ubuntu better.

[Bug 1828675] Re: Booting issue in Ubuntu 19.04

2019-05-11 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1828675/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

2019-05-11 Thread mm
The 5.1 mainline kernel basically works for me - "ELAN0615 was added,
touchpad is working.

Sadly the kernel errors "[ xxx.xxx ] elan_i2c i2c-ELAN0615:01: invalid
report id data (ff)" are still here and the suspend mode doesn't work
for me (Lenovo V130-14IGM) on this kernel.

I looked around a bit and found ~/.config/pulse, a directory with
permission 700. Changed it to 777. That didn't make a difference.
Also found ~/.pulse with this contents:

Some kinda old stuff in there. Deleted (well, renamed) the directory.
No change in behavior. Also it didn't get re-created, which seemed a
bit surprising since some of the files in there were new.

[Bug 1828136] Re: [Intel DH67CL, Realtek ALC892, Grey SPDIF Out, Rear] No sound at all

2019-05-11 Thread Adrian Mariano
I removed the 00-disable-autospawn.conf file and rebooted. Then I get
a.txt containing this:

D: [pulseaudio] conf-parser.c: Parsing configuration file '/etc/pulse/client.con
f'
E: [autospawn] core-util.c: Home directory not accessible: Permission denied
W: [autospawn] lock-autospawn.c: Cannot access autospawn lock.
E: [pulseaudio] main.c: Failed to acquire autospawn lock

which seems not very enlightening. I tried alsa force-reload and it
works as usual and nothing more appears in a.txt.

[Bug 1828638] Re: Support sane option --scan-area on GUI applications

2019-05-11 Thread UlfZibis
** Description changed:

Several sane backends provide the option --scan-area to guarantee the
scan is correctly aligned, even if the scan area with automatic document
feeder (ADF) is right-aligned in contrast to the flatbed of the same
  device, which is normally left-aligned.

Currently SimpleScan and XSane only support options -l -t -x -y, which
leads to misalignment of some scanners when using the ADF.

As example for this problem see:
  https://gitlab.com/utsushi/utsushi/issues/68

kglobalshortcutsrc.lock.rmlock

kglobalshortcutsrc.lock.rmlock.rmlock.rmlock
kglobalshortcutsrc.lock.rmlock.rmlock.rmlock.rmlock

[Bug 1813820] Re: Waking from Suspend causes screen to appear with grey static (like a TV with no signal)

2019-05-11 Thread Craig Stein
today I started to follow the steps here:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelSuspend

I found this in the dmesg after replicating the problem with pm_trace

[0.950964] Magic number: 0:66:1001
[0.950965] hash matches drivers/base/power/main.c:1012

Is there more going on here perhaps than a video driver? Not sure what
else to do with this information.

We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to review all
reported bugs in a timely manner. You reported this bug some time ago
and there have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time.

Do you still see a problem related to the one that you reported using
Chromium 73, the currently supported version of Chromium in Ubuntu?
Please let us know if you do otherwise this report can be left to expire
in approximately 60 days time.

Thank you for helping make Ubuntu better.

[Bug 1828678] [NEW] Nautilus window outside the screen, unreachable, after resuming from hibernation

2019-05-11 Thread teo1978
Public bug reported:

I always work with an external display connected to my laptop.
The external display is selected as the only display, and the laptop's built-in
screen is switched off.

Often I hibernate, move the laptop to another place (e.g. from home to
the workplace and viceversa), connect a different external screen, and
resume from hibernation.

When I do so, it often happens that, if I had one or more Nautilus windows open
before hibernation, one or more of them are partially or completely outside the
screen. When they are partially, they are moved way to the left, and only the
right-most part of the window is visible at the left of the screen. In this
case I can reach the window with the mouse cursor, click and drag it to the
right so it's completely within the screen.
But sometimes, the window is completely unreachable, as if it's completely
outside the screen (presumably to the left of it, since when it's reachable,
it's always to the left).

In these cases, there's NOTHING I can do to reach the window and gain
access to it. I can right-click on the Launcher icon of the window, but
that doesn't give me any way (none that is discoverable, at least) to
bring the "lost" window into the visible area of the screen.

This sounds mostly like a bug in Xorg or Compiz whatever the window
manager is. The fact that it is even POSSIBLE for a window to be moved
completely outside of the screen in such a way that you have no way to
get access to it, IS certainly a bug or design flaw in whatever piece of
software is responsible for managing windows. So is the fact that, when
that happens, there is no tool for gaining access to it.

However, I have never, ever observed this with windows belonging to any
other application except Nautilus. When I hibernate and resume, I
usually have several windows open belonging to different applications:
Thunderbird, Chrome, Filezilla, Gimp, and others, and often several
terminal windows. Yet it has never, ever happened to me that one of them
was completely or mostly outside of the screen as it happens with
Nautilus. So there seems to be something specific to Nautilus. So it
looks like Nautilus is doing something wrong, or failing to do something
it's supposed to do, though the fact that the system even allows it to
happen, means there's also a bug in the system (whether it's Xorg,
Compiz, Unity or whatever).

Note that this is a very critical issue, as not being able to access a window
means potentially lose work. Fortunately, being a file explorer (as opposed to
some other program where you may have unsaved changes to some document),
usually the damage is small. However, you may have carefully chosen a set of
folders that you have opened in tabs, and/or you may have carefully selected a
particular set of files in each tab; having to close the window means you have
to repeat the process of selecting those files and folders. That is just an
example of loss of work due to this bug.

So before wrongly assigning it low importance as you often do, think
twice.

[Bug 1828136] Re: [Intel DH67CL, Realtek ALC892, Grey SPDIF Out, Rear] No sound at all

2019-05-11 Thread Hui Wang
there is no client.conf.d/00-disable-autospawn.conf on my computer too.

And the pulseaudio usually sets "autospawn=yes" or "Restart=on-failure"
in the systemd.

Maybe you could delete 00-disable-autospawn.conf temporarily and do a
test, if it does not work, restore it.

And you could run "dpkg -S 00-disable-autospawn.conf" to check which
package installed this file.
