[Bug 1835619] Re: opera.desktop reverts

2019-07-06 Thread treloar
I tried to do a package, but the bug report system would not accept it
and stated it did not exist, indicated I should click the "I don't know"
radio button but that would not accept either.

In the finish I put Ubuntu and the bug report system accepted it, the
bug report system would accept nothing else.

The netboot installer is not the same thing as the mini.iso. The download
page refers to "Network installer". Nowhere does it reference the mini.iso,
which is clearly not being booted over the network.

[Bug 1795202] Re: xubuntu 18.10 x86 (32bit) installer crash (hdd badblocks issue)

2019-07-06 Thread Chris Guiver
I'm marking this invalid as it was a hardware issue.

As noted early, it'll server no use unless the installer is going to be
modified to check for hdd errors (making code larger, more of a pain to
maintain..)

[Bug 1835464] Re: nginx service fails after libssl update due to low entropy at boot

2019-07-06 Thread Dietmar May
@teward

No, I'm not sure whether it's an nginx bug.

openssl packages were updated; nginx package is at the same version.

Basically, it looks like an openssl call that previously succeeded (and
probably gave questionable responses) now has become a blocking call
that doesn't return until sufficient entropy is available to ensure a
reasonably secure random result.

Where before nginx completed in a timely manner, it appears to be now
blocking, and failing to start within the systemd timeout period,

If that's the case (which looks likely), then other services which
depend on openssl may time out as well. (tomcat with APR comes to mind
as one possibility.)

[Bug 1429030] Re: netboot mini.iso doesn't support UEFI boot

2019-07-06 Thread Niklas Holm
> The mini iso is an artifact of the debian-installer package build and
is not a supported installer that we reference anywhere on
.

Now that is some interesting news, and untrue. The netboot installer is
referenced in the drop-down menu (https://ubuntu.com/download#download)
and on the alternate installer sub-page (https://ubuntu.com/download
/alternative-downloads). Not anywhere does it say anything about being
unsupported. If what you're saying is true than it should be clearly
communicated to the users.

[Bug 1835464] Re: nginx service fails after libssl update due to low entropy at boot

2019-07-06 Thread Dietmar May
@xnox

In my case, this is on a TI AM3352 processor. The key config item is:

CONFIG_HW_RANDOM_OMAP=m

TI's docs indicate that the following is important:

CONFIG_CRYPTO_DEV_OMAP_SHAM=y

And these may be related:

CONFIG_CRYPTO_DEV_OMAP_AES=y
CONFIG_CRYPTO_SHA256_ARM=y
CONFIG_CRYPTO_SHA512_ARM=y

In general, for devices having a hardware random number generator, I
believe the following are needed:

CONFIG_HW_RANDOM=m
CONFIG_HW_RANDOM_TPM=m

I started by building an ubuntu kernel for this ARM processor; but after
some backported kernel patches broke the ubuntu kernel for my device, I
switched to the kernel.org stock 4.9 LTS kernel. Incidentally, that's
made it easier to get support from driver developers.

Not that it matters for me anymore because I've since upgraded to 18.04

This is a copy of the Ubuntu bug I created:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfwm4/+bug/1835622

"I cannot login to the Xfce desktop session anymore. in ~/.xsession-
errors there's the message:

xfwm4: ../src/mesa/drivers/dri/i965/intel_mipmap_tree.c:1285:

Earlier today Mesa was upgraded via bionic-updates from 18.2 to 19.0.

I'm running Xubuntu 18.04 and I'm also using the Xubuntu Staging PPA
with xfwm4 4.13.3"

Some additional notes:
- I had occasional crashed of xfwm or the panel, but those did not affect
functionality
- Before the upgrade today I had no problems logging in to the Xfce Desktop
- Disabling the compositor in xfwm resolved the issue
- Else than the Xubuntu Staging PPA I also have:
  * deb http://www.ui.com/downloads/unifi/debian stable ubiquiti
  * deb http://repo.mongodb.org/apt/ubuntu xenial/mongodb-org/3.4 multiverse
(I just saw the xenial here. Seems to be wrong. But probably not related to
that bug here)

Those were the upgrades from today:

I didn't mean "this is a nm-applet bug", I meant that this is still an issue
that I can reproduce with nm-applet.

I spent over two hours playing with those functions and
systray_socket_draw/systray_socket_force_redraw to no avail. I also tried to
call those functions or gtk_widget_queue_draw every second (g_timeout_add), no
difference. No matter what I change the systray background is never cleared.
This bug seems to require a better knowledge of gtk/cairo than mine (which is
not great anyway), availability to spend more time investigating or both.

[Bug 1835583] Re: Text not rendering correctly after resume from suspend

apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected

** Description changed:

  Since 19.04, I've been experiencing frequent difficulties resuming from
  suspend, causing text not to be displayed at all, or wrong characters to
  be displayed. Please see the attached screenshots.

  I don't know what part of the system this lies in. It seems to affect
  all gtk apps at least. Firefox and Chromium renders just fine when this
  happens, other than the titlebar.

[Bug 1829530] Re: synergy's fork replaces it, should be pointed in dpkg package

2019-07-06 Thread Unit 193
Howdy,

It's a fork, they have the same end goal and at this point use
compatible protocols, but Barrier is not a renamed Synergy. Synergy
still exists and as far as I'm aware they still have releases so it'd be
improper to add a transitional package to Barrier from Synergy. Synergy
even still exists in the Debian (and Ubuntu) archives.

Re: [Bug 1831374] Re: I can not install any Ubuntu distros in the UEFI mode

2019-07-06 Thread Artyom Pozharov
There is one difference from me and Linux Mint user. He could disable the
Secure Boot (the solve of the problem), but my laptop even don't have this
feature.
For example, installation freezes on 66% - Launch of the "grub-install
dev/sda".
Additionally, one guy discussed this problem (but with other laptop) on
Russian Ubuntu loco team. You can look the English translation of this
page:

[Bug 1835630] [NEW] Relax dependency on specific version of libnvidia-compute-NNN

2019-07-06 Thread PHD
Public bug reported:

Currently nvtop in disco/eoan depends on package libnvidia-compute-418.

However Ubuntu provides several different versions of nVidia drivers:
disco: 390, 410, 418
eoan: 390, 410, 418, 430
Also nVidia drivers are easily upgradable via a PPA [1].

Package nvtop depending on a specific libnvidia-compute-NNN version
renders it uninstallable with any other nVidia driver version.

Fix:

Package nvtop should depend on:
the lowest possible version available in a given Ubuntu release (disco/eoan:
390?)
*OR* any following version officially released by nVidia [2].

So for disco and eoan this libnvidia-compute dependency should say:
libnvidia-compute-390 | libnvidia-compute-396 | libnvidia-compute-410 |
libnvidia-compute-415 | libnvidia-compute-418 | libnvidia-compute-430

Even if some of those packages are not [officially] available in Ubuntu.

This also means that this package's dependencies should be updated each
time a new driver is officially released by nVidia.

[Bug 1835623] [NEW] Google Chrome Linux version 75 freezes and then crashes when trying to play any video

2019-07-06 Thread BavarianPH
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 18.04
I expect Chrome to play videos.
When I try to play any video on Google Chrome for Linux, any version of 75 or
higher, Google Chrome freezes.
Chrome 75 will allow sound but no video.
All mouse clicks become unresponsive.
Attempting to close Chrome after many mouse clicks causes Chrome to crash.
Even worse it often also crashes Ubuntu 18.04.
Google Chrome 74 or lower work without any problems playing videos.
It is a Google Chrome Linux version 75 or higher problem.
I cannot believe that neither Google or Ubuntu or any other Linux OS seem to
completely ignore this extremely serious problem.
I am forced to install Google Chrome 71 to fix video playback problem.
I posted on Ubuntu ask, and show over 90 views but no comments.
One answer confirms that he has the exact same problem.

[Bug 1570617] Re: [MIR] edk2

2019-07-06 Thread dann frazier
I've gone ahead and sync'd edk2 into Ubuntu:

https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/edk2/0~20190606.20d2e5a1-1ubuntu1

This has the identified embedded source copies removed. Upstream has
actually moved most of them out of the source tree - the only source
we're additionally removing is BrotliCompress. I've also added some
basic autopkgtests. They just make sure each image can boot to an EFI
shell in (non-KVM) QEMU instance. I'd like to add tests that involve
booting real OS's, and maybe using KVM when available - that will take
some time, but at least I've got the groundwork laid.

Please let me know if there's anything else you require from me to
process this MIR.

[Bug 1830358] Re: Screen flickering

2019-07-06 Thread Alexei Koltsov
Here's a video of the issue:
https://youtu.be/DNdWc5aqPoo

Having spent time with this issue here are my observations. Issue comes
and goes. Issue manifests itself in 3 ways:

1. Most commonly (several times a day) I see what is shown in the video,
intermittent blinking differently spaced out. Lasts anywhere from 30
seconds to 2 minutes.

2. Much more rarely(once every week) I see total screen failure. Screen
replicates and/or stretches on itself and can't do anything. Lasts for
about 10-20 seconds. Then it returns to normal.

3. Even more rarely (once a month) the screen turns off. The solution
here is to close the laptop and open it back up.

[Bug 1835619] Re: opera.desktop reverts

2019-07-06 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1835619/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1835619] [NEW] opera.desktop reverts

2019-07-06 Thread treloar
Public bug reported:

I have the program Opera installed on Ubuntu 16.04, when I start Opera
the window is small and a pop-up comes up repeatedly asking for a
password to "Unlock the Keyring".

Upon adding --start-maximized --password-store=basic to the exec line of
the opera.desktop file in the /usr/share/applications folder Opera
functions correctly.

One or two days later, the opera.desktop file reverts back to just opera
%U on the exec line and the program is broken again. No matter how many
times I change opera.desktop, it reverts back, even if I "edit as
administrator" or login as root in terminal... it changes back.

According to https://www.whatismybrowser.com/detect/what-version-of-
opera-do-i-have I have Opera 62

[Bug 1835618] [NEW] Sync flatpak 1.4.2-1 (universe) from Debian experimental (main)

2019-07-06 Thread Andrew Hayzen
Public bug reported:

Please sync flatpak 1.4.2-1 (universe) from Debian experimental (main)

Changelog entries since current eoan version 1.4.1-1:

flatpak (1.4.2-1) experimental; urgency=medium

  * New upstream release
  * d/p/Don-t-register-polkit-agent-if-we-cannot-connect-to-syste.patch:
Add proposed patch to avoid crashing if the system bus is unavailable,
working around policykit-1 bug #923046
  * d/salsa-ci.yml: Request standard CI on salsa.debian.org
  * d/p/tests-Skip-tests-that-use-system-helper-if-uid-or-gid-is-.patch:
Avoid testing the system helper if uid or gid is zero.
The system helper refuses to run in test mode if it has privileges,
but some CI systems (currently including salsa-ci) run as uid or
gid 0 in a disposable container.
  * d/test.sh: Don't run tests under linux32, even if reprotest did the
build under linux32
  * d/test.sh: Don't output non-test logs (notably
debian/output/reprotest.log on salsa-ci) after running tests

[Bug 1665447] Re: kernel ppa is building amd64 files inside mainline ppc64el package

2019-07-06 Thread satmandu
I know that these mainline builds are unsupported in any way, but there
have been some efforts to quickly patch this problem for cross-
compiling.

Examples: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-ti-
omap4/+bug/666267/comments/16

Also, I wrote up a quick hacky post-install script to workaround this
issue, which works for arm64 mainline builds, here:

https://gist.github.com/satmandu/b60a804fa2275615c88367bc68e4bad0

As a quick summary of the problem, it appears that these files are
needed in the target architecture to build modules, but are in the
cross-compile host architecture:

scripts/recordmcount
scripts/mod/modpost
scripts/basic/fixdep

"make scripts" does everything except make modpost, so I use "make
modules_prepare" which errors out, but does make everything one needs.

Oh, and unfortunately the packaging scripts seem to leave out these
header files which are needed for the aforementioned compile process:

security/selinux/include/classmap.h
security/selinux/include/initial_sid_to_string.h
tools/include/tools/be_byteshift.h
tools/include/tools/le_byteshift.h

So I download those first too.

If any of that process could be eliminated, it would be appreciated. :)
