[Bug 1765832] Re: Two finger scrolling not working after suspend

2019-10-10 Thread Ishuah Kariuki
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1722478 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1722478

I'm running into this issue too

The solution detailed here doesn't solve my issue -->
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1722478/comments/72

I'm running Ubuntu 18.04 on a Thinkpad P52s.
This solution works for me (I just have to run it every time I get back to my
computer from a suspended state):

  $ sudo modprobe -r psmouse

[Bug 1847635] Re: Ubuntu 19.10 installer crashed on install with ZFS

2019-10-10 Thread mariojuniorjp
Hello Sebastien!

What happened was this: I downloaded the beta ISO from 19.10. When
trying to install it by formatting the disk in ZFS, I noticed that the
option has not been available in the installer.

I ran an apt update and apt full-upgrade and waited for the update to
finish. After that, I proceeded with the installation and selected the
entire disk to install with the ZFS partition. Upon reaching the
installer part of the grub, the installation broke down.

I don't understand much about it, but I think it's some compatibility
issue between grub and ZFS.

[Bug 1847582] Re: checkinstall leaves root filesystem unusable if interrupted

2019-10-10 Thread Stephen Gelman
This is because Ubuntu has decided to disable fs translation by default
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/checkinstall/+bug/78455).  In
my opinion that is a very unsafe default and the bug doesn't seem severe
enough to justify it (mkdir -p is broken). I'm tracking this bug in
Debian at https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=717778 and
hope to figure out what the issue is soon.

[Bug 1803667] Re: new requirement for Automatic Installation

2019-10-10 Thread vmware-gos-Yuhua via ubuntu-bugs
Hi Joshua,
>   document here:

>   https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FoundationsTeam/AutomatedServerInstalls

> I am going to mark this opinion and ask that if you have any
further requests or questions that you add them to the discourse above.

Thanks very much. I have two questions:

1)
Currently we have three types of iso: ubuntu live server, ubuntu server and
ubuntu desktop.
the ubuntu live server use installer subiquity and the other two use installer
ubiquity based on debain-installer

The document say the feature "automated installation" will be
implemented in the server installer for 20.04.

Will it be implemented in ubuntu live server or ubuntu server or both ?
Does the ubuntu desktop will support this feature ?

2)
>  The following section in
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FoundationsTeam/AutomatedServerInstalls
>Providing the autoinstall file
> The autoinstall file can be provided in the following ways:

>   1) As /autoinstall.yaml in the initrd

> 2) As /autoinstall.yaml on the install media

>   3) As /autoinstall.yaml on a filesystem with label
"autoinstall"

> 4) Via a http or https (or maybe tftp) URL on the kernel
command line

For option 2), Does the install media means the same CD/DVD as ubuntu iso or
individual CD/DVD ?

Thanks

[Bug 1847706] [NEW] Deja Dup still tells python-gi (python 2) is required while duplicity is now python3

2019-10-10 Thread Nobuto Murata
Public bug reported:

Please see the screenshot attached. When running a backup operation
against a remote server with SSH, Deja Dup stops by saying "python-gi"
package is required.

However, duplicity is updated with Python3 now, so it doesn't make sense
to install Python 2 based package. The prerequisite check needs to be
updated probably with python3-gi instead.

[Bug 1837673] Re: Certbot will be unable to create new ACME accounts

2019-10-10 Thread Brad Warren
I tested the packages in the PPA on Ubuntu 16.04 and 18.04 using the
steps described at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates/Certbot#SRU_Verification_Process.

When testing, if you start with a clean /var/log/letsencrypt directory
and don't include any flags to change the default server such as
--staging, --test-cert, --server, the following command should have no
output:

grep 'acme-v01.api.letsencrypt.org' /var/log/letsencrypt/*

I successfully ran
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates/Certbot/TestScript on each
system, but if anyone else wants to do this, you first have to install
all Certbot packages and set the environment variable
CERTBOT_PREINSTALLED=1 otherwise the script will try to install from
proposed-updates.

I also had to introduce an environment variable into the script to pin
the version of boulder (Let's Encrypt's ACME server software) used for
testing. Their most recent version has dropped support for features that
are still included in Certbot and tested in the current script. The
value I used here is BOULDERBRANCH="release-2019-03-11" which I believe
is the most recent tag that works.

The output of dpkg-query at the end of the script about tested packages
was:

On 18.04:

certbot 0.27.0-1~ubuntu18.04.1~ppa3
letsencrypt 0.27.0-1~ubuntu18.04.1~ppa3

python3-certbot-apache  0.23.0-1
python3-certbot-nginx   0.23.0-1
python3-josepy  1.1.0-1

[Bug 1836823] Re: python-acme will break on November 1st

2019-10-10 Thread Brad Warren
I tested the packages in the PPA on Ubuntu 16.04, 18.04, and 19.04 using
the steps described at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates/Certbot#SRU_Verification_Process.

When testing against Let's Encrypt's ACMEv2 server (which is the default
if you use the Certbot package from the PPA or you can include "--server
https://acme-v02.api.letsencrypt.org/directory; on Certbot's command
line if testing with the non-updated Certbot package) and starting with
a clean /var/log/letsencrypt directory, you can use a command like:

grep 'GET' /var/log/letsencrypt/* | grep -v '/directory'

If this command produces any output, something has gone wrong.

To run https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates/Certbot/TestScript,
you first have to install all Certbot packages and set the environment
variable CERTBOT_PREINSTALLED=1 otherwise the script will try to install
from proposed-updates.

[Bug 1847704] [NEW] On upgrade to 19.10, Unity custom keyboard shortcuts stop working

2019-10-10 Thread Alistair Cunningham
Public bug reported:

After upgrading from 19.04 to 19.10, custom keyboard shortcuts in Unity
stop working. I have Super-X bound to "gnome-terminal --maximize",
Super-F bound to "firefox" and Super-T bound to "thunderbird". All
worked before the upgrade, but none do now. Changing the custom
shortcuts to other key combinations, such as Alt-D, does not help.
Default shortcuts, such as Ctrl-Alt-T for terminal work correctly.

Reporting this for the "unity" package as I don't know which package
handles the keyboard shortcuts. Feel free to re-assign to the correct
package.

[Bug 1814144] Re: installed calligra 3.0.1 but cannot find calligra stage

2019-10-10 Thread Ed Silkworth
agreed. i would think to exclude the package, instead of include it and having
it not install stage.
anyways, in case this is helpful to anyone...

how I compiled Calligra Stage 3.0.1 in Kubuntu 18.04 LTS from source:

$ sudo apt install cmake extra-cmake-modules liblcms2-dev libeigen3-dev
libphonon4qt5-dev libphonon4qt5experimental-dev
$ sudo apt build-dep calligra
$ mkdir -p $HOME/kde/build/calligra
$ mkdir -p $HOME/kde/inst5
$ mkdir -p $HOME/kde/src
$ wget https://download.kde.org/stable/calligra/3.0.1/calligra-3.0.1.tar.xz
$ tar xJf calligra-3.0.1.tar.xz -C $HOME/kde/src
$ cd $HOME/kde/build/calligra
$ cmake -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=$HOME/kde/inst5 $HOME/kde/src/calligra-3.0.1 \
  -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=RelWithDebInfo -DPRODUCTSET="STAGE" \
  -DBUILD_UNMAINTAINED=TRUE -Wno-dev
$ make -j6
$ make install -j6

$ nano ~/.profile
export XDG_DATA_DIRS=$HOME/kde/inst5/share:$XDG_DATA_DIRS
export PATH=$HOME/kde/inst5/bin:$PATH

log out and in
$ ln -s ~/kde/inst5/share/applications/org.kde.calligrastage.desktop
~/.local/share/applications/

you should see Calligra Stage in the main menu

easier: use KDE Neon and install Stage from Discover
even easier: just use LibreOffice

just reported the bug late (perhaps after a reboot) – after the package
was already upgraded to 3.34.0-2.

Thanks for your input, @Peng Wu!

Hmm.. Looks like we have an unenviable choice to make.

@Sebastien: Can you please read the comments above starting with #20 and
let us know your view. Would an SRU of libpinyin be appropriate given
the circumstances?

@fermulator: Thanks for confirming and, of course, for pointing at the
applicable upstream fix.

Unfortunately it seems like the fix in Ubuntu 18.04 is not sufficient
for some LiDE 100 devices, so the PPA will keep being useful to some
users.

[Bug 1847377] Re: snmptrapd.service uses MIBSDIR instead of MIBDIRS

2019-10-10 Thread a1291762
For a longer description of what I was doing...

I have a device that sends SNMP traps and it was sending them to my
desktop. I was monitoring snmptrapd using sudo journalctl -f -u
snmptrapd.

Originally, this provided only numeric OIDs. Installing snmp-mibs-
downloader fixed up many of the OIDs but not the custom ones.

In order to get the custom MIBS working, I had to add the directory they
were in to MIBDIRS and add -m ALL to the snmptrapd.service file (well...
I don't know if the commandline change was needed, I was following a co-
worker's suggestions). I have attached the modified snmptrapd.service
file to this bug. On my system, this file is
/etc/systemd/system/snmptrapd.service.

This is a command that works to send a trap to my local snmptrapd
(running on the same box):

MIBDIRS=/usr/share/snmp/mibs:/usr/share/snmp/mibs/iana:/usr/share/snmp/mibs/ietf:/usr/share/mibs/site:$HOME/work/git/ogtrapd/mibs
/usr/bin/snmptrap -mALL -v 2c -c log 127.0.0.1:162 "0" OG-TEST-
MIB::ogTESTMessage  ogTESTMessageStatus s 'test message'

I'll attach the custom MIBS needed to make this work too. That should
allow you to complete reproduce the issue and fix.

[Bug 1731459] Re: genesys_gl847 scanners produce a black band in scanned images on Ubuntu 17.10+, 18.04 LTS and 18.10 Cosmic cuttlefish

2019-10-10 Thread fermulator
Certainly, the PPA from `rolfbensch` has the fix (start at
https://gitlab.com/sane-project/backends/issues/7#note_125319290).

https://gitlab.com/sane-project/backends/-/tags/1.0.28, was released on
Jul 31 2019.

At least currently:
https://mirrors.edge.kernel.org/ubuntu/pool/main/s/sane-backends/
libsane-common_1.0.27-1~experimental3ubuntu2.2_..> 30-Aug-2019 15:48267K
 THIS ONE
libsane-common_1.0.27-3.2ubuntu1.1_all.deb 30-Aug-2019 15:48265K
libsane-common_1.0.27-3.2ubuntu1_all.deb   05-Apr-2019 23:06265K
libsane-common_1.0.27-3.2ubuntu3_all.deb   19-Sep-2019 12:48265K

My system was preset for that PPA (due to above).

```
$ dpkg --list | grep -i libsane-common
ii  libsane-common
1.0.28+git20191006-bionic0  all  API library
for scanners -- documentation and support files
/etc/apt/sources.list.d$ grep -rins sane *
rolfbensch-ubuntu-sane-git-bionic.list:1:deb
http://ppa.launchpad.net/rolfbensch/sane-git/ubuntu bionic main
rolfbensch-ubuntu-sane-git-bionic.list:2:# deb-src
http://ppa.launchpad.net/rolfbensch/sane-git/ubuntu bionic main
```

Remove that PPA and update/refresh (remove libsane*) then re-install
(there is a lot of awkward pkg removals when I tried to remove libsane*, be
sure to re-install stuff that you didn't want to remove)

```
$  dpkg --list | grep -i libsane-common
ii  libsane-common
1.0.27-1~experimental3ubuntu2.2 all  API library
for scanners -- documentation and support files
$ dpkg --list | grep -i sane-utils
ii  sane-utils
1.0.27-1~experimental3ubuntu2.2 amd64API library
for scanners -- utilities
```

Retested, and == VERIFIED FIXED

[Bug 1846138] Re: backport mod_reqtimeout with handshake support

2019-10-10 Thread Eric Desrochers
[VERIFICATION XENIAL]

* Feedback #1:

>From an impacted user:
"
They confirmed that from their perspective the test is OK, and the apache2
packages are delivering expected result
"

* Feedback #2:
>From SustEng Mauricio (mfo):
"
The backport in xenial-proposed worked exactly as eoan
(with the AcceptFilter bits mentioned in previous comment)
...
"

** Description changed:

  [Impact]

  When running TCP Defensics suite which sends corrupt packages towards
  vip__public port 443, the suite is hanging after the half suite because
  there are no free connections. The connections will be in state
  "established" ~ 2 hours.

  1.2. Detailed trouble description
  # ip netns exec haproxy netstat -npea | grep XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX | grep -i
establish | grep 443
  tcp 0 0 XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX:443 YYY.YY.YYY.YY:2940 ESTABLISHED 115 81148003

  tcp 0 0 XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX:443 YY.YY.YYY.YY:10552 ESTABLISHED 115 81744903
29817/haproxy

  This issue can be resolved by enabling the parameter(mod_reqtimeout).
  This parameter is available in apache 2.4.39 (released on 2019-04-01).

  [Test Case]

  This test case has been brought to my attention by an impacted user:
  "
  You must have an apache2 server, with an haproxy in front of it, and you
initiate SSL connections with "nc" between 50 and 8000 connections and because
the SSL connection process is never finished all those connections get stucked
and never timeout.
  "

+ Reproducer (Thanks to Szilard):
+ https://pastebin.ubuntu.com/p/6Hk64CDc7H/
+
  [Regression Potential]

  * The backport already exist in Bionic/Disco (done by security team via
  the security channel)

  * It is also backported upstream into 2.4 (branch : 2.4.x)

  * It was tested pre-release by an impacted user, and the outcome was
  positive:

  "I have tested the below packages for enabling handshake
  parameter(mod_reqtimeout) in apache. Looks the package is working fine.
  "

  * Local autopkgtest inside qemu, revealed no issues:
  autopkgtest [12:09:48]:  summary
  duplicate-module-load PASS
  htcacheclean PASS
  ssl-passphrase   PASS
  chroot   PASS

-
  [Other Info]

  [Original description]
  Backport the handshake feature in mod_reqtimeout (in Apache 2.4.39) to Apache
2.4.18.

  Lack of this feature was exhausting free connections when sent corrupted
  packets.

[Bug 1847496] Re: [trusty] policy not always initialized when building depcache

2019-10-10 Thread Brian Murray
Hello Julian, or anyone else affected,

Accepted apt into trusty-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apt/1.0.1ubuntu2.24 in
a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from
verification-needed-trusty to verification-done-trusty. If it does not
fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the
tag to verification-failed-trusty. In either case, without details of
your testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification .  Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.
