Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1852879/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. [Bug 1851504] Re: encrypted root fails to cryptsetup on disco
This bug is affecting me on Kubuntu 19.04. I rebooted my computer this morning and typed my password into cryptsetup during boot only to get the message "libgcc_s.so.1 must be installed for pthread_cancel to work". There are a few factors that I believe should cause the priority of this issue to be increased: 1. Advanced boot options cannot be used to recover Selecting recovery mode from grub menu or older kernel/initramfs versions doesn't help. All of my old initramfs images have been updated to no longer include libgcc_s.so.1. 2. The initramfs scripts do not recover gracefully It has taken me at least 4 hours to recover from this issue because copying libgcc_s.so.1 from a usb stick into the initramfs isn't enough to recover. Upon exiting the recovery shell, it simply indicated that the root couldn't be mounted and dumped me back to the shell again. I manually ran cryptsetup to open the LUKS volume and this still resulted in getting dumped back to the initramfs shell. The problem, I think, is that the cryptsetup fails several times (in local-top and in local-premount or local-block) before the mount is considered failed and the initial recovery console is presented. So, when exiting the shell, it tries to resume at a point well past the initial mounting attempt. I finally got the computer to boot by copying libgcc_s.so.1 from another computer into the recovery initramfs. I then had to source scripts/functions and run_scripts local-top. After that I was able to boot, but I don't remember if I also did a run_scripts local-premount. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1851504 Title: encrypted root fails to cryptsetup on disco To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/cryptsetup/+bug/1851504/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures. At a minimum, we need: 1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem. 2. The behavior you expected. 3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). [Bug 1852860] Re: Display settings not saved across sessions
Updating, I have narrowed down the bug further. So the settings are not persisted when fractional scaling is used. If i simply enable fractional scaling, but dont change the scaling (leaving it at 100%), but change other display settings, like location of monitors, they are indeed persisted. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1852860 Title: Display settings not saved across sessions To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/1852860/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1827329] Re: Please update package to Build 20
For older Ubuntu releases, it is possible to request a backport (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuBackports) 19.10 (eoan): Added eoan-backports task. I've built and installed the packaged locally, it runs as expected. 19.04 (disco): Not tested, though might need to do something here to ensure upgrade path from older releases. Although see below. 18.10 (cosmic): Reached EoL. I assume this is exempt from the upgrade path...? 18.04 LTS (bionic): Would be really nice. I don't know how backports are built, but the package requires debhelper 12 which is available in bionic-backports. Assuming the -backports archive is available at build time, this would work. The package builds and installs. However, it fails to start with the following error message: Graphics: Try to set Videomode 800x600 glewInit returns 1 Your OpenGL installation must be __very__ broken. Missing GL version Caught exception (of type '10WException') in outermost handler! The exception said: [/home/ubuntu/dev/widelands-20/src/graphic/gl/initialize.cc:138] glewInit returns 1: Broken OpenGL installation. This should not happen. Please file a bug report on version build-20(Release). and remember to specify your operating system. Seen anything like this upstream? 16.04 (older LTS, still supported) (xenial): The main problem here seems to be that debhelper 12 is not available, not even in xenial-backports. Either that needs resolving or I could help put together a slightly modified packaging for backport. I guess focus should be on the latest release and the latest LTS release. If those get sorted out, we can see how far back in time we can go. :) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1827329 Title: Please update package to Build 20 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/widelands/+bug/1827329/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1852183]
Can confirm this suspected 'mutter' bad effect on calc 6.3.3 and mutter 3.34.1: -happen with a calc spreadsheet when trying to copy/paste a formula cell: 1) from a column's cell, right click to copy it 2) select the first same column's cell to paste: get a graphic created (kind of image with 4 cells which are draggable and extendable) instead of the normal pasting result. 3) deleting that graphic objet, then re-copying the original cell, finally the pasting is done as expected. This has been seen for each copy/paste since calc 6.3.3 upgrade, not prior. Also note that now LO is unable to load/open an ods file : after the Nov 11th upgrades; Does not get error from a terminal. Only get a dialog box telling calc has silently crashed and will then try to recover the ods file: but there is no file listed to recover. [Bug 1690085]
Ever since upgrading to a Ryzen (1700X), I have experienced frequent system freezes, which may be related to the problems discussed here. The freeze mostly happens during a certain heavily threaded task with disk io. Symptoms: * Screen completely freezes, including mouse pointer, * Existing SSH connections die, no new connection can be established, * System can no longer switch to text console, * LEDs indicate **unceasing disk activity**, * System still responds to pings, * Alt-SysRq keys remain active, but cannot output to screen even if already in text console. I've succeeded in capturing kernel logging after a freeze using netconsole: This timeout message appears: [35042.581242] INFO: task jbd2/dm-2-8:610 blocked for more than 120 seconds. [Bug 1852510] Re: IO errors when writing large amounts of data to USB storage in eoan on RPI
Probably I found the root cause of this problem. After enabling the HIGHMEM and VMSPLIT_3G, the urb sent to the driver of dwc_otg maybe allocated in the highmem, if it is in the highmem, the usb core will not set the urb->transfer_buffer and call hcd->urb_enquenue(). With other hcd drivers, they could handle the situation of urb->transfer_buffer to be NULL, but for dwc_otg hcd driver, it returns an error unconditionally if the urb->transfer_buffer is NULL. I check the code, the dwc_otg driver could handle the situation that the urb buffer is in highmem (urb->tansfer_buffer is NULL). Maybe we could fix this issue with a simple patch, I will post my found to the upstream bug https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux/issues/3332 hwang4@hwang4-Vostro-5390:~/work/mainline/raspi/linux-32$ git diff diff --git a/drivers/usb/host/dwc_otg/dwc_otg_hcd_linux.c b/drivers/usb/host/dwc_otg/dwc_otg_hcd_linux.c index 08a3e41038a3..5d04adfc58c0 100644 --- a/drivers/usb/host/dwc_otg/dwc_otg_hcd_linux.c +++ b/drivers/usb/host/dwc_otg/dwc_otg_hcd_linux.c @@ -821,10 +821,10 @@ static int dwc_otg_urb_enqueue(struct usb_hcd *hcd, dump_urb_info(urb, "dwc_otg_urb_enqueue"); } #endif - +#if 0 if (!urb->transfer_buffer && urb->transfer_buffer_length) return -EINVAL; - +#endif if ((usb_pipetype(urb->pipe) == PIPE_ISOCHRONOUS) || (usb_pipetype(urb->pipe) == PIPE_INTERRUPT)) { if (!dwc_otg_hcd_is_bandwidth_allocated -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1852510 Title: IO errors when writing large amounts of data to USB storage in eoan on RPI To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-raspi2/+bug/1852510/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
