[Bug 1859071] Re: Secondary monitor unpredictable behavior at boot (Ivy Bridge, DisplayPort)
Thanks. Comment #36 shows the bug: DP-2 connected 1600x900+1366+0 (0x95) normal (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 798mm x 334mm Comment #34 does not show the bug: [ 6.555] (II) modeset(0): Output DP-2 using initial mode 2560x1080 +1366+0 So I wonder if those are from different logins? Either way, when it's using the wrong mode of 1600x900 it's also showing an EDID which decodes nicely and includes 2560x1080: Decoded from the EDID in comment #36 EDID version: 1.4 Manufacturer: GSM Model 30485 Serial Number 297684 Made in week 2 of 2019 Digital display 10 bits per primary color channel DisplayPort interface Maximum image size: 80 cm x 34 cm Gamma: 2.20 DPMS levels: Standby Supported color formats: RGB 4:4:4, YCrCb 4:4:4, YCrCb 4:2:2 Default (sRGB) color space is primary color space First detailed timing includes the native pixel format and preferred refresh rate Display is continuous frequency Color Characteristics Red: 0.6513, 0.3320 Green: 0.3066, 0.6308 Blue: 0.1503, 0.0595 White: 0.3134, 0.3291 Established Timings I & II 640x48059.940 Hz 4:331.469 kHz 25.175 MHz (DMT) 640x48075.000 Hz 4:337.500 kHz 31.500 MHz (DMT) 800x60060.317 Hz 4:337.879 kHz 40.000 MHz (DMT) 800x60075.000 Hz 4:346.875 kHz 49.500 MHz (DMT) 832x62474.551 Hz 4:349.726 kHz 57.284 MHz (Apple) 1024x76860.004 Hz 4:348.363 kHz 65.000 MHz (DMT) 1024x76875.029 Hz 4:360.023 kHz 78.750 MHz (DMT) 1280x1024 75.025 Hz 5:479.976 kHz 135.000 MHz (DMT) 1152x87075.062 Hz 192:145 68.681 kHz 100.000 MHz (Apple) Standard Timings 1152x86459.959 Hz 4:353.783 kHz 81.750 MHz (EDID 1.4 source: CVT) 1152x86460.000 Hz 4:353.700 kHz 81.624 MHz (EDID 1.3 source: GTF) 1280x1024 60.020 Hz 5:463.981 kHz 108.000 MHz (DMT) 1280x72060.000 Hz 16:945.000 kHz 74.250 MHz (DMT) 1600x90060.000 Hz 16:960.000 kHz 108.000 MHz (DMT, RB) 1680x1050 59.954 Hz 16:10 65.290 kHz 146.250 MHz (DMT) 1920x1080 60.000 Hz 16:967.500 kHz 148.500 MHz (DMT) 1280x80059.810 Hz 16:10 49.702 kHz 83.500 MHz (DMT) 1920x1080 74.906 Hz 16:984.643 kHz 220.750 MHz (EDID 1.4 source: CVT) 1920x1080 75.000 Hz 16:984.600 kHz 220.637 MHz (EDID 1.3 source: GTF) Detailed mode: Clock 181.250 MHz, 798 mm x 334 mm 2560 2608 2640 2720 ( 48 32 80) 1080 1083 1093 ( 3 10 18) +hsync -vsync VertFreq: 59.978 Hz, HorFreq: 66.636 kHz Detailed mode: Clock 148.500 MHz, 798 mm x 334 mm 1920 2008 2052 2200 ( 88 44 148) 1080 1084 1089 1125 ( 4 5 36) +hsync +vsync VertFreq: 60.000 Hz, HorFreq: 67.500 kHz Display Range Limits Monitor ranges (Bare Limits): 40-75 Hz V, 90-90 kHz H, max dotclock 240 MHz Display Product Name: LG HDR WFHD Has 1 extension block Checksum: 0x97 CTA-861 Extension Block Revision 3 Basic audio support Supports YCbCr 4:4:4 Supports YCbCr 4:2:2 1 native detailed modes 26 bytes of CTA data blocks Audio Data Block Linear PCM, max channels 2 Supported sample rates (kHz): 48 44.1 32 Supported sample sizes (bits): 24 20 16 Video Data Block 1920x1080 60.000 Hz 16:967.500 kHz 148.500 MHz (VIC 16) 1280x72060.000 Hz 16:945.000 kHz 74.250 MHz (VIC 4) 720x48059.940 Hz 16:931.469 kHz 27.000 MHz (VIC 3) 640x48059.940 Hz 4:331.469 kHz 25.175 MHz (VIC 1) 1920x1080 50.000 Hz 16:956.250 kHz 148.500 MHz (VIC 31) 1280x72050.000 Hz 16:937.500 kHz 74.250 MHz (VIC 19) 2560x1080 50.000 Hz 64:27 56.250 kHz 185.625 MHz (VIC 89) 4096x2160 100.000 Hz 256:135 225.000 kHz 1188.000 MHz (VIC 218) 720x57650.000 Hz 16:931.250 kHz 27.000 MHz (VIC 18) Speaker Allocation Data Block Speaker map: FL/FR - Front Left/Right Extended tag: Colorimetry Data Block BT2020YCC BT2020RGB Extended tag: HDR Static Metadata Data Block Electro optical transfer functions: Traditional gamma - SDR luminance range SMPTE ST2084 Supported static metadata descriptors: Static metadata type 1 Detailed mode: Clock 27.000 MHz, 798 mm x 334 mm 720 736 798 858 ( 16 62 60) 480 489 495 525 ( 9 6 30) -hsync -vsync VertFreq: 59.940 Hz, HorFreq: 31.469 kHz Detailed mode: Clock 228.250 MHz, 798 mm x 334 mm 2560 2608 2640 2720 ( 48 32 80) 1080 1083 1093 1119 ( 3 10 26) +hsync -vsync VertFreq: 74.991 Hz, HorFreq: 83.915 kHz Checksum: 0xd7 ** Summary changed: - Secondary monitor unpredictable behavior at boot (Ivy Bridge, DisplayPort) + Modesetting randomly fails to offer modes available in the EDID (CTA-861 Extension Blo

[Bug 1833611] Re: [snap] mouse pointer on Ubuntu flavours is retro-looking when hovering over links
This issue is fixed for me (as merlijn-sebrechts predicted on Discourse) via: Auto-refresh snap "gtk-common-themes". Kubuntu 19.10 Fixed: mouse pointer was a traditional sharp pointer. Now it uses my preferred KDE default pointer. Fixed: mouse pointer over links was "retro looking left pointing hand". Now it uses expected upward pointing hand as found in other apps such as Firefox. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1833611 Title: [snap] mouse pointer on Ubuntu flavours is retro-looking when hovering over links To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/chromium-browser/+bug/1833611/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1859160] Re: Snapd fails to delete obsolete dev-loops, thus causing delay at lockscreen
Here you go, Zygmunt. These are the outputs of losetup and "system-analyze blame" before and after deleting "dev/loop10." It appears that after the deletion the deleted item reappears as "dev/loop20." Over the course of a couple of days, my logins from the lockscreen have slowed again. I don't have the technical background to know what's going on, but - - - here's the output. ** Attachment added: "devloops1-after.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/snapd/+bug/1859160/+attachment/5320325/+files/devloops1-after.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1859160 Title: Snapd fails to delete obsolete dev-loops, thus causing delay at lockscreen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/snapd/+bug/1859160/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1859545] Re: Sticky keys repeat indefinitely unless if pressed again
Ah, I am pretty sure I recognize this. The symptoms and behaviors match an ancient and well known X11 bug that I dug into some years ago, and you can read my findings in comment #310 of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/124406. The sticky repeat is due (as I understood it -- this is a bit speculative) to a race condition in tracking and updating the key down and up states. The issue tends to be hard to reproduce when you do have it, and hard to get rid of when you do, because triggering the misbehavior depends on several low level components stepping on each others' toes at just the right time to lose the keyup -- or something like that. If you're lucky, sometimes just randomly upgrading or downgrading one of these components (or switching keyboards, reinstalling things, etc.) can be enough to get the timings desynchronized (or whatever). This might explain why there are so many claimed "solutions" by forum posters and bug comments, that rarely seem to work for anyone but that one guy, and why the problem keeps cropping up in random situations. I'd thought at the time maybe Wayland would finally solve this, however I've seen scattered reports of people seeing the same problem there, so maybe it's just one of those oddball unsolvable bugs. A commonly used workaround is to disable keyboard repeat, either in GNOME settings, or via xset r rate (see man xset, and note you may need to re-run xset periodically). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1859545 Title: Sticky keys repeat indefinitely unless if pressed again To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qemu/+bug/1859545/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

The monitor has a native resolution of 2560x1080. When I power on my laptop, it is seemingly random whether one of the three following situations occurs. 1. Displays at the proper native resolution of 2560x1080, 2. Displays at 1600x1200 but not let me select a higher resolution in display settings, or 3. The display will fail to connect and stay blank (when I enter display settings it will be on "Single Monitor" mode, but from there I can enable Join Displays and set it to its native resolution). [Bug 1575053] Re: Please move the "$HOME/snap" directory to a less obtrusive location
Hello, I have to comment here too. Pawel, it is not as you mention "important for SOME users". That some (in fact many) people are people using Ubuntu but not even know where complain about this issue. Sorry but I cant easily deploy Ubuntu for normal users (PCs for older people, or PCs for only browsing, accounting, etc.) because few days after are calling me and have questions about strange "snap" folder and how to get rid of it. I had even few cases that this annoying bug made them go back to Windows. They are really sensitive where everything is and why. It is simple, do it right (or hidden by default) or dont put it in Ubuntu by default. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1575053 Title: Please move the "$HOME/snap" directory to a less obtrusive location To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/snapd/+bug/1575053/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1859685] Re: google-cloud-print-connector FTBFS (focal)
New CUPSs do not provide _IPP_PRIVATE_STRUCTURES feature. Missing IPP internal data should be acquired by using the proper new functions provided by CUPS. Fix FTBFS with urfave/cli BoolFlag DefaultText variable Without this, the code FTBFS with the following error: src/github.com/google/cloud-print-connector/gcp-connector-util/gcp-cups-connector-util.go:112:5: unknown field 'DefaultText' in struct l eral of type cli.BoolFlag src/github.com/google/cloud-print-connector/gcp-connector-util/main_unix.go:61:3: unknown field 'DefaultText' in struct literal of type cli.BoolFlag src/github.com/google/cloud-print-connector/gcp-connector-util/main_unix.go:66:3: unknown field 'DefaultText' in struct literal of type cli.BoolFlag src/github.com/google/cloud-print-connector/gcp-connector-util/main_unix.go:71:3: unknown field 'DefaultText' in struct literal of type cli.BoolFlag For some reason, cloud-print-connection was FTBFS because of golang-github-codegangsta-cli-dev, complaining about types. (codegangsta-cli-dev hasn't changed from previous working version in Ubuntu). Fix types for cli.Command assignments Without this, code FTBFS with the following error: google/cloud-print-connector/gcp-connector-util/main_unix.go:106:15: cannot use append(unixCommands, commonCommands...) (type []*cli.Command) as type []cli.Command in assignment Also, for some reason, golang-github-urfave-cli-dev is having problems with BoolFlag DefaultText field. We have moved from previous working version 1.20.0-1 to 1.22.2-1 in recent Ubuntu. Workaround for no _IPP_PRIVATE_STRUCTURES in newer CUPS versions Added hardcoded ipp-private.h as workaround for the lack of the _IPP_PRIVATE_STRUCTURES feature, dropped in CUPS v2.3b4. Without this feature, all the IPP private structures, needed by cups/core.go, to get the IPP Request Status Code, will not exist making code FTBFS. Correct fix for this is to rely on new functions, provided by CUPS, in order to obtain internal structure data access (C or go). ** Changed in: golang-github-urfave-cli (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed ** Changed in: golang-codegangsta-cli (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed ** Changed in: golang-codegangsta-cli (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Medium ** Changed in: golang-github-urfave-cli (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Medium -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1859685 Title: google-cloud-print-connector FTBFS (focal) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/golang-codegangsta-cli/+bug/1859685/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1859395] Re: libxen-4.9: missing libxenstat
$ dpkg -L xen-utils-4.9 | grep xenstat /usr/lib/xen-4.9/lib/libxenstat.so xen-utils-4.9 pulls in other packages with it: $ sudo apt-get install xen-utils-4.9 ... The following NEW packages will be installed: bridge-utils grub-common grub-xen-bin grub-xen-host os-prober xen-hypervisor-4.9-amd64 xen-utils-4.9 xen-utils-common xenstore-utils So as I understand it, your concern here is not that the .so is entirely unavailable, but rather that it requires installing a few extra packages just to get it. I suppose one solution would be to split xenstat itself out of the xen-utils-4.9 package into its own package, however that seems pretty invasive, and wouldn't be practical to maintain in Ubuntu - if you really want this, I'd advise raising it with Debian's xen packaging team by filing a bug there. For that reason, I am doubtful this change would be considered for Ubuntu, but will leave this report open as Wishlist for now. [Bug 1575053] Re: Please move the "$HOME/snap" directory to a less obtrusive location
I do not have a problem with the snap dev team deciding that this issue has no priority for them. That is absolutely fine. It an individual project, it's their project, nobody tells anyone else what to do with their time. To think that they owe us to fix it would be disrespectful imo. But I do have a problem with Ubuntu promoting snaps then. I've been promoting and supporting the Ubuntu distribution for years, and creating tools that are compatible with it. When a core tool changes, that's when it becomes *my* time. And the last few years have been particularly annoying. I'm happy with this issue remaining unresolved forever, so long as Ubuntu stops installing snaps by default, and systematically promoting them.
