[Bug 1814983] Re: zfs poor sustained read performance from ssd pool
Andreas, this system is running 18.04 LTS, 0.7.5-1ubuntu16.8, 4.15.0-91-generic. It has 128 gigs of ram; the workload is running ripgrep on an entire unpacked Ubuntu source archive, roughly 193 million files, 3.8 TB of data, on a single raidz1 ssd vdev. [Bug 1868711] Re: Unknown command 'bootz' - try 'help'
This was a consequence of the arm64 images not using a compressed kernel (and me being slightly lazy in the construction of the boot script - or trying to keep the script minimal, depending on your point of view :). [Bug 1873537] [NEW] PCIe AER device recovery failed due to logic flaw
Public bug reported: SRU Justification Impact: During PCI Express Downstream Port Containment (DPC) recovery, certain types of failures do not recover due to a logic flaw in pcie_do_recovery(). The upstream git commit log explains the change: PCI/ERR: Update error status after reset_link() Commit bdb5ac85777d ("PCI/ERR: Handle fatal error recovery") uses reset_link() to recover from fatal errors. But during fatal error recovery, if the initial value of error status is PCI_ERS_RESULT_DISCONNECT or PCI_ERS_RESULT_NO_AER_DRIVER then even after successful recovery (using reset_link()) pcie_do_recovery() will report the recovery result as failure. Update the status of error after reset_link(). You can reproduce this issue by triggering a SW DPC using "DPC Software Trigger" bit in "DPC Control Register". You should see recovery failed dmesg log as below: pcieport :00:16.0: DPC: containment event, status:0x1f27 source:0x pcieport :00:16.0: DPC: software trigger detected pci :04:00.0: AER: can't recover (no error_detected callback) pcieport :00:16.0: AER: device recovery failed Fixes: bdb5ac85777d ("PCI/ERR: Handle fatal error recovery") Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/a255fcb3a3fdebcd90f84e08b555f1786eb8eba2.158584.git.sathyanarayanan.kuppusw...@linux.intel.com [bhelgaas: split pci_channel_io_frozen simplification to separate patch] Signed-off-by: Kuppuswamy Sathyanarayanan Signed-off-by: Bjorn Helgaas Acked-by: Keith Busch Cc: Ashok Raj Note that a second prerequisite patch is necessary as well. This patch, commit b5dfbeacf74865a8d62a4f70f501cdc61510f8e0 Author: Kuppuswamy Sathyanarayanan Date: Fri Mar 27 17:33:24 2020 -0500 PCI/ERR: Combine pci_channel_io_frozen cases is a code readability change, and makes no functional changes. Testcase: On a system with DPC enabled, setpci may be used to set the DPC Software Trigger bit (bit 6, value 0x40) in the DPC Control register of a suitable PCIe device (a PCIe bridge, for example). On a system lacking the fix, the output will be as shown above (i.e., culminating in the "device recovery failed" message). With the fix applied, the device successfully recovers, resulting in a message of the form pcieport :d9:01.0: AER: Device recovery successful Regression Potential: The risk of regression is low, as (a) the path in question currently does not work, and (b) the changes are minimal, comprising only a housekeeping change and the logically correct updating of a status variable that did not previously occur. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1873537 Title: PCIe AER device recovery failed due to logic flaw To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1873537/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1873525] Re: Gnome 3.36 with two monitors
Yes, it is the same problem. When additionally installing the _Dash to Dock_ extension from extensions.gnome.org, then you can easily change the settings (also from Ubuntu Dock). Unchecking the option "Panel mode: extend to the screen edge" (as noted in the link from my description: https://github.com/micheleg/dash-to- dock/issues/1136#issuecomment-603669287) makes the error disappear (but the dock is no longer full height). Also (as noted in the link in my description: https://github.com/micheleg/dash-to- dock/issues/1136#issuecomment-615452981), I am using two monitors with very different DPI. Therefore (also as noted in the same comment), it might be linked to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome- shell-extension-ubuntu-dock/+bug/1826543. Answering your questions: 1. Upgrade to Ubuntu 20.04 (before it worked) 2./3. Did you even click on the link (https://github.com/micheleg/dash-to-dock/issues/1136#issuecomment-615452981)? Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and help make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read 'How to report bugs effectively' http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures. At a minimum, we need: 1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem. 2. The behavior you expected. 3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). [Bug 1873528] [NEW] sshd overrides from /etc/ssh/sshd_config.d/*conf apply in reverse lexographic order
Public bug reported: I am looking at the addition of 'Include /etc/ssh/sshd_config.d/*conf' for use in Ubuntu cloud images. I wanted to add a config file and see if I had done things correctly. I assumed that the files were sourced lexographically (based on use of glob() in readconf.h) so that I could document how users could override our tuning. But it appears from 'sshd -T' output and observed behavior that the first file in /etc/sshd_config.d/ to define a parameter wins. I see in 'sshd -ddd' output that they are parsed lexographically but it seems that their settings apply in reverse (or whichever comes first) if that makes sense. I'd like to understand if this is correct behavior and get it documented. Steps to reproduce on focal with openssh-server 1:8.2p1-4: 1. Create the following files in /etc/ssh/sshd_config.d/ with the content shown below: 40-cloudimg-settings.conf: ClientAliveInterval 110 PasswordAuthentication yes PermitRootLogin no 50-cloudimg-settings.conf: ClientAliveInterval 120 PermitRootLogin yes 60-cloudimg-settings.conf: ClientAliveInterval 180 2. Check what sshd thinks the values will be with 'sshd -T|grep -i clientaliveinterval' and 'sshd -T|grep permitrootlogin' clientaliveinterval 110 permitrootlogin no (The tuning I cared about was ClientAliveInterval for my work but PermitRootLogin is easier to demonstrate) 3. Run '/usr/sbin/sshd -ddd' to check debug output for config file parsing behavior: debug2: load_server_config: filename /etc/ssh/sshd_config debug2: load_server_config: done config len = 296 debug2: parse_server_config_depth: config /etc/ssh/sshd_config len 296 debug2: /etc/ssh/sshd_config line 13: new include /etc/ssh/sshd_config.d/*.conf debug2: /etc/ssh/sshd_config line 13: including /etc/ssh/sshd_config.d/40-cloudimg-settings.conf debug2: load_server_config: filename /etc/ssh/sshd_config.d/40-cloudimg-settings.conf debug2: load_server_config: done config len = 71 debug2: parse_server_config_depth: config /etc/ssh/sshd_config.d/40-cloudimg-settings.conf len 71 debug3: /etc/ssh/sshd_config.d/40-cloudimg-settings.conf:1 setting ClientAliveInterval 110 debug3: /etc/ssh/sshd_config.d/40-cloudimg-settings.conf:2 setting PasswordAuthentication yes debug3: /etc/ssh/sshd_config.d/40-cloudimg-settings.conf:3 setting PermitRootLogin no debug2: /etc/ssh/sshd_config line 13: including /etc/ssh/sshd_config.d/50-cloudimg-settings.conf debug2: load_server_config: filename /etc/ssh/sshd_config.d/50-cloudimg-settings.conf debug2: load_server_config: done config len = 46 debug2: parse_server_config_depth: config /etc/ssh/sshd_config.d/50-cloudimg-settings.conf len 46 debug3: /etc/ssh/sshd_config.d/50-cloudimg-settings.conf:1 setting ClientAliveInterval 120 debug3: /etc/ssh/sshd_config.d/50-cloudimg-settings.conf:2 setting PermitRootLogin yes debug2: /etc/ssh/sshd_config line 13: including /etc/ssh/sshd_config.d/60-cloudimg-settings.conf debug2: load_server_config: filename /etc/ssh/sshd_config.d/60-cloudimg-settings.conf debug2: load_server_config: done config len = 25 debug2: parse_server_config_depth: config /etc/ssh/sshd_config.d/60-cloudimg-settings.conf len 25 debug3: /etc/ssh/sshd_config.d/60-cloudimg-settings.conf:1 setting ClientAliveInterval 180 4. Set a root password and unlock the account. 5. Attempt to ssh as root to the instance with a password. Observation: * Root password login is denied if PermitRootLogin is 'no' in 40-foo.conf and 'yes' in 50-foo.conf * Root password login is allowed if PermitRootLogin is 'yes' in 40-foo.conf and 'no' in 50-foo.conf It appears in 'sshd -ddd' output that files are parsed in lexographic order (40-foo.conf before 50-foo.conf) but the behavior observed indicates that the value set in 40-foo.conf overrides 50-foo.conf which is counter to expectations. ** Affects: openssh (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: champagne -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1873528 Title: sshd overrides from /etc/ssh/sshd_config.d/*conf apply in reverse lexographic order To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openssh/+bug/1873528/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1859592] Re: Bluetooth unavailable after updates - Reading Intel version information failed (-110)
@mizzao that sounds a lot like my "solution" comments/2 indeed. However, during hot reboots on my dual boot setup, the Bluetooth DID work in Windows for me, but not in Linux. For Linux, a cold boot was required. So I am inclined to believe that the Linux Bluetooth driver puts the Bluetooth hardware in a certain state that persists across hot reboots but doesn't affect the Windows driver from successfully interacting with the Bluetooth hardware. I believe this to be a software bug where a certain state or signal from the Bluetooth hardware is misinterpreted by the Linux driver, causing it to stop working. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1859592 Title: Bluetooth unavailable after updates - Reading Intel version information failed (-110) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1859592/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1872541] Re: MySQL client fails to connect, seems to force SSL
The problem with using ssl is that you are using a client (openssl 1.1 .1f-based) that will not speak anything older than TLS 1.2, trying to connect to a server that can only speak TLS 1.1. >From 1.1.1f-1ubuntu1 changelog entry >(https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openssl/+changelog): - Set OPENSSL_TLS_SECURITY_LEVEL=2 as compiled-in minimum security level. Change meaning of SECURITY_LEVEL=2 to prohibit TLS versions below 1.2 and update documentation. Previous default of 1, can be set by calling SSL_CTX_set_security_level(), SSL_set_security_level() or using ':@SECLEVEL=1' CipherString value in openssl.cfg. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1872541 Title: MySQL client fails to connect, seems to force SSL To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-release-notes/+bug/1872541/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
