[Bug 363695] Re: update-apt-xapian-index uses too much CPU and memory
This bug was reported way back in 2009 . Today it's 1st June 2020 and this bug is still here kubuntu 18.04 . This background process fires up a few seconds after i turn on my laptop and continues to consume 100% of both the cores and after a minute or so when it stops . Python3 would then start consuming the CPU power , I suspect this again is something related to APT . All of this is really annoying , during the time when this process is running you can't do anything . -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/363695 Title: update-apt-xapian-index uses too much CPU and memory To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/apt/+bug/363695/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1864404] Re: fence_scsi and fence_mpath configuration issues (e.g. /var/run/cluster/fence_scsi.key)
For the previous case (fence_mpath in Groovy), when rebooting the fenced node automatically (by watchdog monitoring /dev/watchdog from softdog module) perhaps pacemaker systemd unit should start only AFTER iscsid, open-iscsi AND multipath-tools were already started. This would give time to all paths to be online. PROBLEM: paths being added might take more time than the service to tell systemd it is ON. Note: Don't fully trust automated reboots for unfencing a node with mpath, do it manually. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1864404 Title: fence_scsi and fence_mpath configuration issues (e.g. /var/run/cluster/fence_scsi.key) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fence-agents/+bug/1864404/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1881523] [NEW] the installer will prompt for confirmation before touching the disk for ubuntu 20.04 autoinstall

It works when I mount seed.iso with cloud-init config file according to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FoundationsTeam/AutomatedServerInstalls/QuickStart Only one little question: the installer will prompt for confirmation before touching the disk. It will interrupt the process of autoinstall As document said: "Unless you interrupt boot to add 'autoinstall' to the kernel command line, the installer will prompt for confirmation before touching the disk." [Bug 1881516] [NEW] PC fails to power-off on kernel 5.3.0.53
Public bug reported: I have a Desktop PC with MSI PRO B450-A PRO Motherboard and CPU Intel Core AMD RYZEN 3 3200G 4-Core 3.6 GHz, and RAM CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM. OS is Ubuntu 18.04 LTS. Current kernal 5.3.0.53. This system has been in operation normally for about 6 months. However, around 5/20/20, this problem started. On shutdown, shutdown screens/activity seem normal, then the video is cut and system appears to have shutdown, however the PC power/power LED remain on. I have to hold the power button to turn completely off. In order to further isolate this issue, I ran fsck (no errors). Shutdown from Live CD session is normal. When I boot into kernal 5.3.0.51, shutdown is normal. So this appears to be an issue related to kernal 5.3.0.53. Repeated switching kernal back and forth confirms problem only existing on 5.3.0.53. [Bug 1747646] Re: Authentication error with google drive
Using the default (apt) deja-dup with the online accoutns in ubuntu 18.04. I found out a workaround for this. If you keep the session open manually by reading a file over and over you can reset the timer described here: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gvfs/-/issues/360 Basically after keeping a session open on only a specific folder, there is a limit of 100 access things (reads, writes, etc.) and then the connection stales. While the backup is running in the background, you have to manually browse the root of the google drive in nautilus every 5-10 minutes (file explorer) and reset that counter. You might get some errors like authentication failed but keep refreshing the root folder till you're able to browse files again. It finally completed my backup. This looks so easy to fix in the code tough and not sure why no one picked this up to fix this earlier. ** Bug watch added: gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gvfs/-/issues #360 https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gvfs/-/issues/360 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1747646 Title: Authentication error with google drive To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/deja-dup/+bug/1747646/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1881214] Re: syslog and kern.log grow endlessly - related to Intel wifi?
Unlike what I thought or hoped, using an upstream kernel (5.4.43-050443-generic x86_64) is not a workaround. I just had the same issue again. ** Description changed: Ubuntu Mate 20.04, with all supplied kernels up to 5.4.0.33 I occasionally see a message on my screen that disk space is low. I try rebooting since my computer is unresponsive. Normal reboot does not work, sudo reboot does not work. I have to power off the machine using power button. Machine boots but hangs because its trying to repair journal info. I can't see what causes that since I was not using my computer at the time. So with a live session, I can see that syslog and kern.log files have grown to several GB until the drive is full. When using an upstream kernel 5.4.43-050443-generic x86_64, I haven't had any problem so far. - Never had this issue with previous Ubuntu versions with the very same hardware configuration, since 16.04. + edit: not true actually, this happened again using this upstream kernel. + + Never had this issue with previous Ubuntu versions with the very same + hardware configuration, since 16.04. [Bug 1449495] Re: Meld hangs (waiting for DBus?)
I saw something similar, where meld & nautilus were both very slow to start (but then worked normally once they had started). I traced some D-Bus messages with Bustle, and found that there was a request for org.gtk.vfs.Daemon.GetConnection which never got an answer. I guess it waits for a preset timeout and then continues anyway. The org.gtk.vfs.mountpoint_4098 bus name belonged to a gvfsd-trash process, according to D-Feet. [Bug 1848496] Re: [zfs-root] "device-mapper: reload ioctl on osprober-linux-sdaX failed: Device or resource busy" against devices owned by ZFS
@fermulator at the moment this is bug breaks dualboot anyway, since it will not probe my Windows os before failing and stopping. So I have to resort to using f12 to select the disk. [Bug 1881498] [NEW] Three monitor setup breaks if one+ screen rotated into portrait mode since Ubuntu 20.04
Public bug reported: Since I upgraded from Ubuntu 19.10 to 20.04 my multi monitor setup is broken. I put the screens into the shape of an H. The center screen is in landscape and to each side one screen in portrait/pivot orientation. I expected to rotate the virtual screens of the outer monitors into portrait mode as it was possible before. Instead the smallest (middle) screen gets scaled extremely in, the virtual screens overlap and just everything about the monitor setup breaks. The resolutions are from left to right 1440p, 1080p, 2160p. I could configure the outer screens to portrait mode over Nvidia X Server, but it doesn't survive a reboot.
