[Bug 1881860] Re: Adds buster-backports to /etc/apt/sources.list... which breaks a Ubuntu system
Hi Sunil and thank you. I've looked at the fix that you plan for Debian and it LGTM. By that the current version in Groovy will stay at 20.3 and whenever you upload something newer than the failing 20.10 it will then work (fixed backport handling) and migrate into Ubuntu Groovy. For regular uploads, as long as you don't need Ubuntu-specific Delta your uploads to Debian will automatically be synced over to Ubuntu. You'll have to: - check Ubuntu tests and proposed migration [1] - make your package work fine on both (as you did with the dpkg-vendor commit) If both are true, then no "extra" uploads are needed. After a release is done e.g. when Ubuntu Groovy releases in October all further updates will have to follow the SRU process [2] (TL;DR - only fixes, extra care on no regressions). You might consider to now apply to PPU [3] permission for freedombox to be able to upload to Ubuntu as needed when the case comes up. [Bug 1881860] Re: Adds buster-backports to /etc/apt/sources.list... which breaks a Ubuntu system
A patch for the problem has been merged to upstream: https://salsa.debian.org/freedombox- team/freedombox/-/merge_requests/1824 . Please consider applying this patch and uploading the latest version of FreedomBox into Ubuntu. If it make it any easier for you, I can request our release manager (James) to make an emergency release 20.10.1 with this patch in it. We will also be redoing the approach for backports differently in upcoming releases. See: https://salsa.debian.org/freedombox- team/freedombox/-/issues/1855 Off topic: We, of the FreedomBox team, would love to see FreedomBox work well in Ubuntu. We can make this happen by: - Uploading FreedomBox regularly to Ubuntu (we have a two week release cycle) perhaps with the help of an Ubuntu maintainer. - Update our test pipelines to run our functional test suite regularly on Ubuntu. - Plan for Ubuntu LTS releases in addition to Debian stable releases, if we can. If someone from Ubuntu who can help us to make this happen, please get in touch. ** Bug watch added: salsa.debian.org/freedombox-team/freedombox/-/issues #1855 https://salsa.debian.org/freedombox-team/freedombox/-/issues/1855 ** Patch added: "Patch to fix the problem for Ubuntu and other derivatives" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/plinth/+bug/1881860/+attachment/5380241/+files/0001-upgrades-Don-t-enable-backports-on-Debian-derivative.patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1881860 Title: Adds buster-backports to /etc/apt/sources.list... which breaks a Ubuntu system To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/plinth/+bug/1881860/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1879012] Re: GRUB does not bring up networking when loaded over HTTP
Please provide remote artifacts: All bootloader files are pulled from the Bionic archive and provided on images.maas.io by lp:maas-images. bootloaders.yaml[1] describes what files are pulled from what packages. You can download the tars at[2] Please provide local artifacts: The local artifacts are from the deploy OS. So for Ubuntu its whatever shim/grub is in the archive for that version of Ubuntu. Same goes for CentOS, VMware, Windows, etc. Keep in mind once HTTP boot is set the remote GRUB drops to the command line before loading the remote grub.cfg. I can only precede with the manual steps detailed above. Please provide reproducer steps: 1. Install MAAS 2. Configure an UEFI virtual machine to use with MAAS. I would suggest manually creating a UEFI VM with libvirt and adding it to MAAS as a machine. 3. Commission the VM and enable SSH so you can enable HTTP boot 4. SSH into the VM and put HTTP boot before TFTP as described above. 5. Shutdown the machine. 6. Try to deploy any operating system Please provide details how local artifacts were installed: Local artifacts are installed by Curtin which gets them from the Ubuntu archive when installing Ubuntu or CentOS archive when installing CentOS. Please provide list of certs trusted by the node's firmware: Due to LP:1865515 secure boot was disabled to produce this bug. Re: [Bug 1881821] Re: Kernel does not report interface speed correctly for Cisco UCS B200 M5 blade
That is not an easy answer. In the world of UCS, there are several factors that can affect this: 1) Type of IOM (I/O Module) 2) Port config of the IOM (single link or port-channel) 3) Number of inks from the Fabric Interconnect to said IOM 4) Model of adapter in the blade. Depending on the combination of these things, it can be a 10, 20, or 40 GB link. On Wed, Jun 3, 2020, 9:40 PM Lee Trager <1881...@bugs.launchpad.net> wrote: > MAAS 2.7 introduced network testing. [Bug 1881821] Re: Kernel does not report interface speed correctly for Cisco UCS B200 M5 blade
MAAS 2.7 introduced network testing. As part of network testing we added the following features which require accurate interface and link speed information. 1. The interface and uplink speeds are now shown in the API and over the UI. 2. MAAS now warns when an interface is connected to an uplink which is slower than its maximum supported speed. 3. Users may now acquire machines based on its uplink speed. I could stop verifying that link speed >= max interface speed however that will mean 1 is incorrect and 2 is broken. I understand that some interfaces achieve higher speeds by using more physical ports but neither ethtool nor LXD give any information on this. Does anyone know the proper way to calculate the maximum supported interface speed on a device like this? ** Summary changed: - Kernel does not report interface speed correctly for Cisco UCS B200 M5 blade + MAAS does not properly detect max interface speed for interfaces which use multiple phyiscal ports(Cisco UCS B200 M5 blade) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1881821 Title: MAAS does not properly detect max interface speed for interfaces which use multiple phyiscal ports(Cisco UCS B200 M5 blade) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/maas/+bug/1881821/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1881601] Re: Fan excessively runs, even when idle
So, I've spent some time on this, and I'll be honest, I don't have a lot of answers. I know that -9 is awful. Attached is a tar file with the results of all of the kernels I have installed, which includes the four you uploaded and two more. I'm currently running -23 and so far it seems to be better than -33 but don't take that for sure yet. I'll run this for a while and then move over to -33 and see if there's a difference. [Bug 1865515] Re: Chainbooting from grub over the network to local shim breaks chain of trust
The MAAS environment I've been using to reproduce this is virtual. I have MAAS running in an LXD container connected to an LXD Pod. To recreate this environment you'll have to install MAAS 2.8, python-pylxd from github(if using the Debian packages), and apply this[1] patch to reenable secure boot. After MAAS is setup you'll need to configure LXD to accept remote connections to be able to add it as a MAAS Pod. This bug should be reproducible using LXD 1. Download GRUB and the shim. MAAS gets both from Bionic, you can download them direct here[1] 2. Setup a TFTP server to provide them 3. Add grub.cfg from MAAS[3] 4. Setup DHCP - Example dhcpd.conf from MAAS[4] 5. Create LXD VM 6. Modify LXD VM to boot from over the network 7. [Bug 1880387] Re: Security risks: Creates user ubuntu with password ubuntu
You're correct and this pattern can be found in all such templates. At the time it made sense as the only way to interact with a freshly created container was through lxc-console which requires a password. It's one of the many security reasons why we moved from lxc-templates to distrobuilder and the current images that you're getting through the "donwload" template and is why "lxc-templates" is no longer supported upstream and was demoted to universe a few releases ago in Ubuntu. I don't think doing any changes to those templates would be a good idea though as the few remaining users are very much legacy users that may break badly should we start modifying ssh configurations or change the way user creation works. Instead we've seen the vast majority of users switching to the new pre- created images which don't have this issue nor any of the many many others that can be found in lxc-templates. ** Changed in: lxc-templates (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid ** Changed in: lxc-templates (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid => Won't Fix -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1880387 Title: Security risks: Creates user ubuntu with password ubuntu To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lxc-templates/+bug/1880387/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1881494] Re: [amdgpu] suspend to ram (standby) crashes amdgpu (Ryzen-7 Vega - HP Envy x360)
Hi, I'm just passing by. Regarding amdgpu issues related with Ryzen / Vega iGPU, there are a couple steps you can try: 1. Try a newer firmware blob. Download e.g. 1a. Download the latest firmware and unpack it https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/firmware/linux-firmware.git/snapshot/linux-firmware-20200519.tar.gz 1b. Backup your /lib/firmware folder 1c. sudo make install A newer firmware could fix the issue (it did for me on Ubuntu 18.04). If this fixes your problem, remember to freeze the linux-firmware package otherwise the next update will overwrite your changes and instability will come back. 2. Try a newer libdrm. Kernel updates for amdgpu go hand in hand with libdrm, but sometimes backports get these out of sync, or you try a mainline kernel but without a mainline libdrm. Download latest libdrm from https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/drm compile it and replace your Ubuntu's installation with your custom build one -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1881494 Title: [amdgpu] suspend to ram (standby) crashes amdgpu (Ryzen-7 Vega - HP Envy x360) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1881494/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1881669] Re: Object .Gjs_AppIndicatorIconActor__1 (0x5582a2e9b240), has been already finalized. Impossible to set any property to it
Hi Sebastien. It seems to be reproducible, but I don't know how to do it. I see several events in my log today. [Bug 1881213] Re: System hangs at reboot or poweroff. kworker blocked at dp_altmode_work
Switching the ports so that the WD15 dock is connected to the USB-C port closer to the power socket and the display is connected to the other USB-C port fixed the issue. Apple USB-C to HDMI dongle exhibited the same issue when plugged into the same port. [Bug 1881972] [NEW] systemd-networkd crashes with invalid pointer
Public bug reported: This is a serious regression with systemd-networkd that I ran in to while setting up a NAT router in AWS. The AWS AMI ubuntu/images/hvm-ssd /ubuntu-bionic-18.04-amd64-server-20200131 with systemd-237-3ubuntu10.33 does NOT have the problem, but the next most recent AWS AMI ubuntu/images/hvm-ssd/ubuntu-bionic-18.04-amd64-server-20200311 with systemd-including 237-3ubuntu10.39 does. Also, a system booted from the (good) 20200131 AMI starts showing the problem after updating only systemd (to 237-3ubuntu10.41) and its direct dependencies (e.g. 'apt-get install systemd'). So I'm fairly confident that a change to the systemd package between 237-3ubuntu10.33 and 237-3ubuntu10.39 introduced the problem and it is still present. On the NAT router I use three interfaces and have separate routing tables for admin and forwarded traffic. Things come up fine initially but every 30-60 minutes (DHCP lease renewal time?) one or more interfaces is reconfigured and most of the time systemd-networkd will crash and need to be restarted. Eventually the system becomes unreachable when the default crash loop backoff logic prevents the network service from being restarted at all. The log excerpt attached illustrates the crash loop. Also including the netplan and networkd config files below. # grep . /etc/netplan/* /etc/netplan/50-cloud-init.yaml:# This file is generated from information provided by the datasource. Changes /etc/netplan/50-cloud-init.yaml:# to it will not persist across an instance reboot.
