I really wonder why even after 11+ years this is still not fixed and reporters like me have been bugged multiple times with needless Needinfo requests?!? As I wrote several times over several years at several places in this bug tracker: The problem is easily reproducible with any TB version (meanwhile including 78.4.2.). [Bug 1586822]
The changes in bug 1432604 allow the default destination to follow the last used folder, but it's not possible to disable such behavior, so that the default folder is always the same. I asked that question to the team and they'll evaluate based on feedback. So this is still partially valid in the sense now there is a pref, but it's not possible to make it static. I agree with inverting the dependencies. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1586822 Title: Ability to set default save destination for new bookmarks To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/firefox/+bug/1586822/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Public bug reported: The official release of PCL (Point Cloud Library)'s version of 1.10.0 has functions unimplemented compared to others PCL releases, e.g. PCL::PointXYZRGB(float, float, float, uint8_t, uint8_t, uint8_t). [Bug 1894867] Re: WiFi works on kernel version LL 115 but not LL 117
Same fix worked again. Must be a problem in the upgrade script. I noticed that the header files were pulled in with the broken wifi original upgrade (which usually does not happen and I have to do that after the upgrade). When I just did the reinstall of the upgrade the install of the kernel complained I had no header files. I therefore reinstalled them also. Now all WiFi works. Have not checked anything else yet. [Bug 1900777] Re: [amdgpu] Screen freeze with AMD/ATI Renoir
Yes, but you would first need to uninstall the driver you installed from the AMD website. And I don't know how to do that. Alternatively, reinstall Ubuntu from scratch. If you find Ubuntu 20.04 doesn't support the GPU then maybe try Ubuntu 20.10 (although that one is only supported until July 2021): https://ubuntu.com/download/desktop https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases I would probably recommend staying with Ubuntu 20.04 though, and then logging new bugs about any problems you encounter. [Bug 1904075] Re: [NJ5x_NJ7xLU, Realtek ALC293, Speaker, Internal] No sound at all (or so KDE "thinks")
Attached is the output of dmesg(1) shortly after a cold cold-boot when the audio output seems Ok: The KDE thing knows about the H/W and functions as expected, and all seems happy. This is mostly for information and comparison with the report's log (when things (well, at least the module & KDE) didn't work). By "cold cold-boot" I mean a boot from power OFF ("cold-boot") after being OFF for perhaps 30 minutes ("cold" (i.e., let the system cool down, but I do NOT believe it was "hot")). [Bug 1904079] [NEW] Wrong keyboard behavior only inside chromium snap
Public bug reported: I've been facing a really strange bug in Ubuntu 20.04. My laptop has Brazilian Portuguese layout (ABNT-2) but my external keyboard has a US layout. So, in order to get a cedilla sign <ç> on those keyboards, I have to change layout to US International with Dead Keys and use an acute accent plus C <'+c>. Everything works fine unless inside the Chromium (installed from snap). In this case I get an accented c <ć>. So, I don't have a way to get a ç inside chrome, which is used in Portuguese. I'm using chromium from stable channel. [Bug 1903893] Re: Notifications from Chromium snap show generic icon
My amateur attempt to clairfy... I believe the issue Coeur Noir is referring to is that Raven / Budgie gets this example as the app_icon: file:///tmp/.org.chromium.Chromium.beVtiT But due to it being a snap, the file is actually located at: /tmp/snap.chromium/tmp/.org.chromium.Chromium.beVtiT Therefore, Raven (Raven / Budgie Desktop) fails to find the correct file. [Bug 1898614] Re: ubuntu server installer serial console not preserved after update
Hi. I got KVM+serial console to work this time. (I think that by default, kvm doesn't give the installer enough ram). [Bug 1904075] [NEW] [NJ5x_NJ7xLU, Realtek ALC293, Speaker, Internal] No sound at all (or so KDE "thinks")
Public bug reported: This is an odd one (or so it seems to me)... Sometimes, after booting, my log is filled with messages similar to: [ 208.746660] snd_hda_intel :00:1f.3: No response from codec, resetting bus: last cmd=0x20a3b000 [ 209.758633] snd_hda_intel :00:1f.3: No response from codec, resetting bus: last cmd=0x20a70740 [ 210.770511] snd_hda_intel :00:1f.3: No response from codec, resetting bus: last cmd=0x20bf0015 See bug #1886626 ("after login to gnome with snd_hda_intel :00:1f.3: No response from codec") for a very similar problem; or at least the same-ish message. The KDE volume thingy says there are no audio input or output devices. I cannot configure anything audio-H/w related with KDE. HOwEVER, whilst generating this bug report with apport-cli(1), the tests it ran clearly showed (heard!) the built-in (internal) speakers are working. Intrigued, I tried a wireless Bluetooth headset (it also worked), a wireless USB headset (also worked), and a wired headset (also worked). So there *is* sound, but KDE thinks there is no H/w... SOMETIMES. At other times, everything is fine. There is no known pattern here (e.g., warm- or cold-boot does not seem to matter, etc.). And then, just to confuse things further, at least once the system booted up in the KDE-no-sound state (complete with module "No response from codec"), but later (a few minutes?) began to work; a check of the log (dmesg(1)) showed those messages had stopped and everything from then on appeared normal. (I'll see if I can find that incident in the logs, *IF* I can, I'll attach it later.) That "not"-working to working does not usually seem to happen (that one incident may be the only time it has happened?) I have no idea if, when in the KDE-no-sound state, if I can control the volume from the computer. I have also NOT tested the input (microphone(s)) whilst in the KDE-no-sound state, but I presume it's like the output (works but KDE doesn't know it?). It sort-of looks like, at the moment, to me, there is sometime amiss in the "kernel sound stuff" which is having a knock-on effect on the "KDE sound stuff". Apologies I cannot be any more specific... ;-( ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 20.04 Package: alsa-base 1.0.25+dfsg-0ubuntu5 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 5.4.0-53.59-generic 5.4.65 Uname: Linux 5.4.0-53-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.11-0ubuntu27.12 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USERPID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC0: blf3447 F pulseaudio CasperMD5CheckResult: skip CurrentDesktop: KDE Date: Fri Nov 13 00:30:59 2020 InstallationDate: Installed on 2020-10-19 (24 days ago) InstallationMedia: Kubuntu 20.04 LTS "Focal Fossa" - Release amd64 (20200423) PackageArchitecture: all SourcePackage: alsa-driver Symptom: audio Symptom_AlsaPlaybackTest: ALSA playback test through plughw:PCH successful Symptom_Card: Built-in Audio - HDA Intel PCH Symptom_DevicesInUse: USERPID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC0: blf3447 F pulseaudio Symptom_Jack: Speaker, Internal Symptom_PulsePlaybackTest: PulseAudio playback test successful Symptom_Type: No sound at all Title: [NJ5x_NJ7xLU, Realtek ALC293, Speaker, Internal] No sound at all UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) dmi.bios.date: 07/16/2020 dmi.bios.vendor: INSYDE Corp. dmi.bios.version: 1.07.03 dmi.board.asset.tag: Tag 12345 dmi.board.name: NJ5x_NJ7xLU dmi.board.vendor: Notebook dmi.board.version: Not Applicable dmi.chassis.asset.tag: No Asset Tag dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: No Enclosure dmi.chassis.version: N/A dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnINSYDECorp.:bvr1.07.03:bd07/16/2020:svnNotebook:pnNJ5x_NJ7xLU:pvrNotApplicable:rvnNotebook:rnNJ5x_NJ7xLU:rvrNotApplicable:cvnNoEnclosure:ct10:cvrN/A: dmi.product.family: Not Applicable dmi.product.name: NJ5x_NJ7xLU dmi.product.sku: Not Applicable dmi.product.version: Not Applicable dmi.sys.vendor: Notebook ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug focal -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1904075 Title: [NJ5x_NJ7xLU, Realtek ALC293, Speaker, Internal] No sound at all (or so KDE "thinks") To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1904075/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1890394] Re: Lightdm-gtk-greeter coredump during boot with recent systemd versions
I don't have access to a machine where Ubuntu Focal is installed. AFAICS, this issue currently breaks Ubuntu Bionic LTS completely for non-technical users running Lxde (e.g. Lubuntu) who regularly apply updates (as recommended) without a simple work-around being available. With non-technical users I'm referring to users who aren't comfortable on the command line. That means they can't just log into the console and enable the proposed updates etc. So I consider this as a pretty serious issue for an LTS release. Releasing it rather earlier than later would probably lead to less people being affected (i.e. those who haven't installed the latest breaking updates yet). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1890394 Title: Lightdm-gtk-greeter coredump during boot with recent systemd versions To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lightdm-gtk-greeter/+bug/1890394/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1600622] Re: Screen doesn't lock or go to sleep when certain Chrome tabs are open
My 2c, no website should ever be able to dictate if my monitor goes or not to standby. More to the point, I think the screen locking is also disabled and this makes it a potential security issue, as it would be trivial for any external party to weaken the security profile applied by the user. Just as we control how we must explicitly allow websites to grab audio, or video, we should also explicitly control if it can override other system settings. Or, there should be something similar with how macos or android grants some permissions on a per-app basis. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1600622 Title: Screen doesn't lock or go to sleep when certain Chrome tabs are open To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-session/+bug/1600622/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1904072] [NEW] jtdiff on xenial and bionic should accept an include file list
Public bug reported: [Impact] jtreg version 5.0 or later added a '-match' option that is basically the reverse of '-exclude': it allows the user to set a file containing the tests that should be run - files not on the list are 'excluded'. As an OpenJDK maintainer I would like to have the option to set a 'include' list of tests to be run, so I can easily separate tests between 'stable' and 'flaky' tests by defining a list of tests that are known to always pass (and where we actually care for regressions). [Test Case] 1) Create an inclusion list with a single line $ echo "compiler/aot/RecompilationTest.java" > /tmp/include-list 2) Run the openjdk-lts hotspot test with -watch $ jtreg -workDir:"/tmp/work" -reportDir:"/tmp/report" -jdk:/usr/lib/jvm/default-java -match:/tmp/include-list -dir:/tmp/openjdk-lts/test/hotspot/jtreg -listtests :hotspot_compiler Testsuite: /tmp/openjdk-lts/test/hotspot/jtreg compiler/aot/RecompilationTest.java Tests found: 1 jtreg from xenial and bionic currently fail as they have no support for '-match'. [Where problems could occur] This adds code that has been highly tested on jtreg 5.0+ to previous versions, so it could possibly trigger different code paths and regress in some corner cases. This would probably show up as previously excluded tests no longer being excluded, since exclusion is now defined as "!match". Any tool that directly calls 'jtreg -match' - instead of looking for its version - might consider this is a newer version of jtreg and assume it can also user other newer features, which would fail. A source package is required to make a binary dummy transition package in Ubuntu (I did this with the transition from ubuntustudio-controls to studio-controls). I can do this as it's part of the Ubuntu Studio packageset, but I cannot remove the source package once that is done, nor should we.
