[Bug 1924832] [NEW] evince output displays wrong in Adobe Reader

2021-04-16 Thread Randall Whitman
Public bug reported:

wget https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f1040s2.pdf
launch evince
open f1040s2.pdf
Fill in example numbers in lines 4 and 10.
Save As... test-1040s2.pdf

On the same Ubuntu-18.04 machine, in both xpdf and evince, all of test-
1040s2.pdf displays as expected, specifically including the form
entries.

Copied f1040s2.pdf to a (virtual) machine running MS-Windows-10, and opened in
Adobe Reader DC 2021.001.20142 .
Expected: display correctly, specifically the form entries in lines 4 and 10.
Actual: no form entries show up in line 4 or 10, as seen in
tax-pdf-adobe-reader-w10.png file from screenshot (lines 4 & 10 circled in red
with the gimp).

Description:
I have slide shows with embeded video files from previous versions of
LibreOffice / Impress and they all worked well. If I play the video files with
Ubuntu 18.04 and LibreOffice 6.0.3.2 they show flickering white stripes. the
stripes are about 1 centimeter wide and move up and down in the picture of the
video.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Embed a video file in a slide show.
2. Play the slide show / the video.

Actual Results:
The video plays but shows a disrupted picture with whiteish flickering stripes.

Expected Results:
The video should play as it is in a video player whithout a disrupted picture.

Reproducible: Always

old?

I tried with a couple of Impress files made with 5.4.7, with 3 different videos
types mp4 file with mp4 H.264, ogv with Theora and webm with VP8.

They worked without a problem under 5.4.7 and 6.0.5, using Ubuntu 18.04.

I got some older ones in a backup, 4.x versions, but I am interested in
the video type in the file giving you problems.

Thanks, setting this to needinfo for the moment.

IDK - that test file actually crashed both 6.0.5 and 6.1 in my
environment.

Extracted the media files, the two .flv files work fine stand alone, but
the .mpeg crashes the media player in my OS every time (not just in
Impress).

Speaking of which if I create a new Impress file and drop in one of the
.flv files the new impress file works fine and the video plays fine.

If I try to add the .mpeg file, using 6.0.5 than Impress hangs.

Also, trying to check the properties of the Billy Elliot.mpeg file
crashed gnome 'Files' twice.

so, it is looking like the mpeg file is the culprit and the OS support
changed.

[Bug 1924829] [NEW] NFS clients cannot open some files

2021-04-16 Thread CB
Public bug reported:

Playing videos from a NFS share using Kodi degraded drastically after
some kernel upgrade on the NFS server using Ubuntu 20.10. Some videos
don't open at all, some get stuck and pixelated.

Tested using:
Clients: Kodi on RPi4 and Kodi on Windows 10.
Server kernels: 5.18.0-50 (not working) and 5.18.0-25 (working)

[Bug 1893964] Re: Installation of Ubuntu Groovy with manual partitioning without an EFI System Partition fails on 'grub-install /dev/sda' even on non-UEFI systems

2021-04-16 Thread Jeremie Tamburini
Hi,
I've tried to install the 16/4 daily build with Ubiquity 21.04.15, but I'm
still experiencing the same problems.

I've just in case filed this bug report: bug #1924823

I've tried to manually install Ubuntu on one of the Ext4 primary partition.
Didn't try any other modality, just seen that selecting the "install on the
entire disk" option a popup window tells that an ESR partition will be created.

[Bug 1924825] [NEW] After upgrading to 21.04, F12 no longer toggles Guake.

2021-04-16 Thread Scott Jacobi
Public bug reported:

Description:Ubuntu Hirsute Hippo (development branch)
Release:21.04

guake:
  Installed: 3.6.3-2
  Candidate: 3.6.3-2

Since upgrading to 21.04, I can no longer use Guake as expected. My F12 key
does not appear to function the way it used to. It will not summon the Guake
window, and when I manually open it, pressing F12 will not cause the window to
hide.

Instead, pressing F12 prints a "~". In fact, many function keys seem to,
including F5 through F8, F10, and F12. Interestingly, F11 does
successfully toggle Guake in and out of fullscreen mode.

When I check the shortcuts in the Guake Preferences, F12 is mapped to
"Toggle Guake visibility". I can undo that mapping, set it to something
else, and then successfully remap it to F12. But no matter what I set it
to, it won't respond.

I have tried apt purge on all things guake and reinstalled, but it
hasn't fixed the problem.

MiB), /boot partition (ext4, 732 MiB) and rest of the disk used for root
partition using 'physical volume for encryption' (lvm). This happens
both for xubuntu and ubuntu installers (21.04 daily build April 16th

this should stay in -proposed after verification even though it is only

[Bug 1921539] Re: Add support for SBAT

2021-04-16 Thread Yuan-Chen Cheng
@mario, I turn secure boot on, and boot into OS, then run the fwupdmgr
install command, then reboot, then I saw the failure.

One more thing, for new shim + groovy grub, I found the same failure happens if
I use groovy/grub
1.155+2.04-1ubuntu35 as boot into OS (so I can't boot into OS with this grub),
however if I use groovy/grub 1.167+2.04-1ubuntu44 from the update channel, then
I can boot into OS.

Feel free to ask questions if anyone wants to reproduce and doesn't know
certain steps in detail, or you want to know my steps in more detail as
reviewing.

[Bug 1924821] [NEW] "etags" from universal-ctags segmentation fault on launch

2021-04-16 Thread Stephen Brennan
Public bug reported:

Installed universal-ctags and ran the "etags" command (which update-
alternatives automatically provided from the package). It immediately
crashed with a segmentation fault. I installed debug symbols and ran it
within valgrind:

My guess is that universal-ctags either does not expect to be run as
"etags", or cannot support it. In any case, the normal execution of
"ctags" and "ctags-universal" both exit successfully (with a message
requesting input files).

[Bug 1922297] Re: 20.10 to 21.04: snap does not upgrade channel

2021-04-16 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
Hello Joshua, or anyone else affected,

Accepted ubuntu-release-upgrader into bionic-proposed. The package will
build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source
/ubuntu-release-upgrader/1:18.04.43 in a few hours, and then in the
-proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been
performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-
bionic to verification-done-bionic. If it does not fix the bug for you,
please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-
failed-bionic. In either case, without details of your testing we will
not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

[Bug 1924814] [NEW] Lag in laptop + ununtu20.04 + dock = 3 Displays

2021-04-16 Thread Mario
Public bug reported:

Hi

1)
$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS
Release:20.04

2)
$ apt-cache policy xorg
xorg:
  Installed: 1:7.7+19ubuntu14
  Candidate: 1:7.7+19ubuntu14
  Version table:
 *** 1:7.7+19ubuntu14 500
500 http://cl.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu focal/main amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

3) What you expected to happen

I have a "HP EliteBook 840 G5 (3RF31LT#ABM)" laptop with ubuntu 20.04
Also I have a Dell dock model k17a connected with 2 monitors.
The physical display is the following:
laptop(landscape) | monitor 1 (landscape) | monitor 2 (portrait right)

When I connect the USB-C plug, I expect nothing special but having 2
more display

4) What happened instead

When I connect the USB-C plug, the whole UX gets super slow
Xorg and gnome-shell are the top 2 cpu-consuming process and both inside the
same CPU2

[Bug 1317249] Re: Tool for export to keepass2 database

2021-04-16 Thread Paolo "UnixMan" Saggese
To date, this is the only thing which I have found which is able to dump
the contents of gnome-keyring:

https://github.com/mnagel/gnome-keyring-dumper

better than nothing, but not exactly what's requested.

I believe that the ability to import AND export its contents from/to a
file in a few different standard formats (CSV, XML, etc) is an essential
feature for any password manager.

[Bug 1768693] Re: Display flicker when starting/stopping SDL2 game

2021-04-16 Thread Braden Obrzut
I guess I should add that this is caused by SDL hinting that the
compositor should be disabled even when the game is running windowed.
I've unchecked "Allow applications to block compositing" awhile ago and
forgot I even made this ticket.

I do still occasionally (once or twice a week) get accelerated
applications failing to redraw, but since either 19.10 or 20.04 this
only happens at the application level instead of the whole desktop and
simply restarting the application (or dragging the tab to a new window
in Firefox) works around the issue.

[Bug 1924809] Re: apt 2.0.5 in focal causes autopkgtest failures for update-manager

2021-04-16 Thread Julian Andres Klode
Can confirm it's broken:

^['linux-.*'-5\.4\.0-72-generic$|^ 'kfreebsd-.*'-5\.4\.0-72-generic$|^
'gnumach-.*'-5\.4\.0-72-generic$|^ '.*-modules'-5\.4\.0-72-generic$|^
'.*-kernel'-5\.4\.0-72-generic$|^ 'linux-.*'-5\.4\.0-72-generic$|^
'kfreebsd-.*'-5\.4\.0-72-generic$|^ 'gnumach-.*'-5\
.4\.0-72-generic$|^ '.*-modules'-5\.4\.0-72-generic$|^
'.*-kernel'-5\.4\.0-72-generic$|^ 'linux-.*'-5\.4\.0-72-generic$|^
'kfreebsd-.*'-5\.4\.0-72-generic$|^ 'gnumach-.*'-5\.4\.0-72-generic$|^
'.*-modules'-5\.4\.0-72-generic$|^ '.*-kernel']-5\.4\.0-72-generic$
23:03

Seems like the test is broken

APT::VersionedKernelPackages "['linux-.*', 'kfreebsd-.*', 'gnumach-.*',
'.*-modules', '.*-kernel', 'linux-.*', 'kfreebsd-.*', 'gnumach-.*',
'.*-modules', '.*-kernel', 'linux-.*', 'kfreebsd-.*', 'gnumach-.*',
'.*-modules', '.*-kernel']";

This code sequence is wrong:

# override the kernel autoremove regex
real_versioned_kernel_pkgs = apt.apt_pkg.config.value_list(
"APT::VersionedKernelPackages")
apt.apt_pkg.config.set("APT::VersionedKernelPackages", "linux-.*")
self.addCleanup(
lambda: apt.apt_pkg.config.set("APT::VersionedKernelPackages",
   str(real_versioned_kernel_pkgs)))

It reads a list, then sets a value option instead of the list, and then
after exit, overrides the value option with a string representation of
the python list.

** Package changed: apt (Ubuntu) => update-manager (Ubuntu)

What you want is define

def set_versioned_kernel_pkgs(real_versioned_kernel_pkgs):
  apt_pkg.config.clear("APT::VersionedKernelPackages")
  for k in real_versioned_kernel_pkgs:
apt_pkg.config.set("APT::VersionedKernelPackages::", k)

and then use

real_versioned_kernel_pkgs = apt.apt_pkg.config.value_list()
set_versioned_kernel_pkgs(["linux-.*"])
self.addCleanup(lambda:
set_versioned_kernel_pkgs(real_versioned_kernel_pkgs))

[Bug 1917062] [NEW] Decryption passphrase prompt not displayed until escape is pressed (Xubuntu hirsute test case)

2021-04-16 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Release: Xubuntu daily build (20210226 ISO). Testing installation with
lvm+encryption (1451)

SW and version: Not sure which package so reporting under cryptsetup.
Could be plymouth?

Expected: After a successful install with lvm+encryption, decryption
prompt should be displayed during boot to enter passphrase.

Actual: No prompt is displayed. If we hit 'Escape', text prompt is
displayed and hitting 'Escape' again shows graphical prompt. This is
main issue.

Secondary issue with UX.
a) on text prompt there is no space after the prompt. Not even colon.
b) on graphical prompt no box is provided so user is confused where to click
mouse button (unless it is just my (wrong) assumption, most people click on
text input area first before start typing). Also either the hidden box is
wrongly aligned or too large so that typed passphrase is not center-aligned
below prompt text.

Screenshots attached.

 Importance: Undecided
 Status: Incomplete

[Bug 1911352] Re: Black screen on boot after 20.04 upgraded to kernel 5.8

2021-04-16 Thread Wolf Pichler
After having played around with "prime-select" instead of using the
graphical Nvidia tool my system now also boots in "on-demand" mode.

(You have to reboot after changing the settings with "prime-select".)

[Bug 1911352] Re: Black screen on boot after 20.04 upgraded to kernel 5.8

2021-04-16 Thread Wolf Pichler
The problem persists with Kernel 5.8.0-50, but I found out that it only
occurs if the usage of the Nvidia GPU is set to "on-demand".

In pure Intel or Nvidia mode the system boots as expected.

The mode van be set via graphical Nvidia tool or via "prime-select
{nvidia|intel|on-demand|query}".

NVIDIA Driver Version: 460.56.

[Bug 1907458] Re: Update for Pi 4b

2021-04-16 Thread Глеб Майоров
Maybe it is better not to use deprecated wiringpi from original author, but
build from it's fork on https://github.com/WiringPi/WiringPi.
I've built 2.60 version from that repo, and it seems to be working on RPI4 just
ok.
