[Bug 1928519] Re: It seems you have modified the contents of "/etc/update-manager/release-upgrades". Would you like to add the contents of it to your bug report?

2021-05-14 Thread Chris Guiver
Thank you for reporting this bug to Ubuntu.

Ubuntu 16.04 (xenial) reached end-of-life on April 29, 2021.

See this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases

We appreciate that this bug may be old and you might not be interested
in discussing it any more. But if you are then please upgrade to the
latest Ubuntu version and re-test. If you then find the bug is still
present in the newer Ubuntu version, please add a comment here telling
us which new version it is in.

You've filed the bug against `ubuntu-release-upgrader` ; the tool which would
upgrade your 16.04/xenial system to 18.04/bionic. If your system was just
installed 10 days ago, I'd recommend installing with supported media
(particularly Ubuntu 20.04 LTS).

A Support site would I suspect be appropriate at getting around this
issue quickly, eg. https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu

You can also find help with your problem in the support forum of your
local Ubuntu community http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at
https://askubuntu.com or https://ubuntuforums.org, or for more support
options please look at https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/community-
support/709

Please also note; as 16.04 is now no longer in standard support, many
sites don't provide support unless your question is specific to aiding
you to move to a supported release of Ubuntu.

FYI: 16.04 means the 2016-April release of Ubuntu which had 5 years of
standard support ending 2021-April.

[Bug 1928526] [NEW] DHCP Cluster crashes randomly

2021-05-14 Thread Phil Fenstermacher
Public bug reported:

We're running in to a case that's very similar to
https://bugs.launchpad.net/dhcp/+bug/1872118 where the DHCP server
periodically crashes. Crashes sometimes take days to happen on
relatively busy DHCP servers. There's not an obvious reason, however the
logs end up showing (hostnames and email address changed slightly to
keep meaning, but not disclose everything).

Because of the similarities with #1872118 we started by checking various
package versions:

$ sudo dpkg -l | grep -i isc-
ii isc-dhcp-client 4.4.1-2.1ubuntu5.20.04.1
amd64DHCP client for automatically obtaining an IP address
ii isc-dhcp-common 4.4.1-2.1ubuntu5.20.04.1

ii libisc-export1105:amd64 1:9.11.16+dfsg-3~ubuntu1
amd64Exported ISC Shared Library

$ sudo dpkg -l | grep -i bind9-libs
ii bind9-libs:amd64 1:9.16.1-0ubuntu2.8
amd64Shared Libraries used by BIND 9

$ sudo dpkg -l | grep -i libisc-*
ii libisc-export1105:amd64 1:9.11.16+dfsg-3~ubuntu1
amd64Exported ISC Shared Library
ii libisccfg-export163 1:9.11.16+dfsg-3~ubuntu1

$ sudo dpkg -l | grep -i libdns-*
ii libdns-export11091:9.11.16+dfsg-3~ubuntu1

Finally, we're running Ubuntu 20.04.2:
$ lsb_release -rd

Re: [Bug 1902767] Re: do-release-upgrade exits with "An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade"

2021-05-14 Thread Rich Stillman
Thanks. I eventually removed enough packages from the system to allow the
upgrade to work. It was a long time ago so I don't remember the details
anymore and I think I threw out my notes.

Since then, apt upgrades, including kernel upgrades, have been working
fine.

Just one more year, and we get to do this all over again...

[Bug 1726548] Re: Windows resized after resume

2021-05-14 Thread Milind V Purohit
I've had this issue for as long as I've had Ubuntu 20.04, which is about
a year now. Having to re-size all terminal windows after suspend is
distracting and takes time. Does anyone have a solution?

Re: [Bug 1928101] Re: sudo do-release-upgrade fails 18.04-20.04

2021-05-14 Thread paul
The fault is all mine. It was a bad plan from the start. My original bad
plan was to install Ubuntu from an old install disk an upgrade it from
there. What I really need to do is clone my system from a 1 Tb drive
onto the new 4 Tb drive using dd.

2021-05-14 Thread elguavas
this bug affects me also on kubuntu 21.04 using wayland session.

either the upstream bug report is incorrect in saying this is fixed in
the kubuntu 21.04 version of kwin or sels this is a different but
simillar issue.

it makes firefox unuseable in the wayland session on kubuntu 21.04.

** Description changed:

Screen tearing for video playback is observed after screen is rotated 180
degree in Ubuntu 20.04, Gnome Vanilla, X11. We haven't seen the issue in
Wayland.
Here are the steps to reproduce the issue.
  1) Install Ubuntu 20.04.
  2) Play video on ubuntu 20.04.
  3) Turn on 'auto rotation" in setting to rotate the screen; Or use 'xrandr -o
2' to rotate the screen.
  4) Screen tearing is observed for 100% reproducible after rotation.
  5) It is happening on all of video contents with dynamic scene changing.

[Bug 1928521] [NEW] coqide package should require adwaita-icon-theme-full

2021-05-14 Thread Jason Gross
Public bug reported:

I've recently discovered (https://github.com/coq/coq/issues/14324) that
coqide requires adwaita-icon-theme-full to display icons correctly. It
seems to me this dependency is not recorded in the ubuntu package.

[Bug 1927840] Re: [SRU] Update to 1.68.1

2021-05-14 Thread Treviño
Sure, so yes 1.67.2 was a unstable version (in gnome, the libraries that
follow the old versioning schema use odd minor version numbers for
unstable versions).

The first stable version of the serie was 1.68.0, but it was affected by
mayor crashes [1] and so we decided to delay releasing it to the first
stable release update, that is 1.68.1

[Bug 1928392] Re: add newer Ubuntu releases to lintian for older Ubuntu releases

2021-05-14 Thread Steve Langasek
Hello Brian, or anyone else affected,

Accepted lintian into hirsute-proposed. The package will build now and
be available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lintian/2.104.0ubuntu2 in a few
hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been
performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-
hirsute to verification-done-hirsute. If it does not fix the bug for
you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed-hirsute. In either case, without details of your
testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

[Bug 1927808] Re: rtw88_8821ce causes freeze

2021-05-14 Thread Paul Szabo
I tried 5.13, installing packages
  linux-headers-5.13.0-051300rc1-generic_5.13.0-051300rc1.202105092230_amd64.deb
  linux-headers-5.13.0-051300rc1_5.13.0-051300rc1.202105092230_all.deb

  linux-modules-5.13.0-051300rc1-generic_5.13.0-051300rc1.202105092230_amd64.deb
Booting 5.13, the graphical (GDM?) login screen did not show; there was a mouse
pointer (moving correctly with the mouse) but otherwise black screen.
I could log in to the TTY console with Alt-Ctrl-F2, and obtained the output of
dmesg as attached; I wonder about the
  Initramfs unpacking failed: Decoding failed
line within.
Without the graphical login, I did not think I could properly test the rtw88
module,
did not remove the line
  blacklist rtw88_8821ce
from the /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf file.

Should I re-try 5.13, somehow differently?
