[Bug 1930982] [NEW] Firefox 89: webrender breaks videos on Raspberry Pi
Public bug reported: Firefox 89 enabled the Webrender framework by default. Unfortunately, the GFX drivers on a Pi 4 seem to be non-compliant in a way that breaks videos - specifically, there will be a lot of primary coloured artefacts in videos. My guess is that other Raspberry Pi's will also be affected, but I don't have the hardware available to test. Setting gfx.webrender .force-disabled to True fixes the issue, so it's fairly clear where it lies. Mozilla doesn't seem to provide official builds for Raspberry Pi's (or Linux/Arm in general), so I think this is an issue to fix in these packages, rather than upstream. The quick solution would to just set gfx.webrender.force-disabled to True for the Pi-platforms and be done with it, but there may be better solutions I don't know about. Additioal info: Ubuntu release: 21.04 Firefox package: firefox/hirsute-security,hirsute-updates,now 89.0+build2-0ubuntu0.21.04.1 arm64 Steps to reproduce: Play a video on Youtube, watch the coloured blocks appear. Then set gfx.webrender.force-disabled to True and restart to verify the fix. ** Affects: firefox (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Description changed: Firefox 89 enabled the Webrender framework by default. [Bug 1883174] Re: Some (or all) desktop icons are missing
Here we have a great example how bugs are being solved. Since there was no good solution, I updated 20.04 to 20.10. Bug was still there. Then I updated to 21.04 - and, voila, bug is not present anymore. So the solution is clear. Just wait till bugs dissapear by "natural reasons"... or till users switch to some other operating system. [Bug 1217828] Re: apt-btrfs-snapshot crashes without any arguments
Same in focal. This happened after a revert. When you revert you loose all the previous snapshots, I was about to file a bug but then had a second problem. When you rollback from snapper (which doesn't work either because how the Ubuntu subvolumen layout works) apt-btrfs-snapshot stops working and throw you that error. Thankfully I tested this on a virtual machine before going to production because I was really skeptic about it. And I was right. It's clear that after so many years this is not going to be fixed, at least please put a big huge warning to people wanting to use both snapper and apt-btrfs-snapshot with known issues. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1217828 Title: apt-btrfs-snapshot crashes without any arguments To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apt-btrfs-snapshot/+bug/1217828/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1874194] Re: Ubuntu 20.04 HDMI connected, no boot
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1872159 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1872159 Hi, I had also same problem (after update to Ubuntu 20.04, had only blank screen on my monitor), but recently found a 'solution' accidentally! MAYBE, it is the same problem like mine! My monitor is being connected via 'D-Sub' and 'HDMI' cables. It seems, separate monitor instance is created in display settings ("Single Display") for each connection type and you won't see anything in the monitor if you had selected a wrong monitor instance (non-HDMI). In my case, I had selected 'D-Sub' monitor instance and 'HDMI' output didn't work or I had blank screen for HDMI input. Seems now I have selected the correct monitor instance for HDMI. So, maybe you also had the same issue that you had selected a 'non-HDMI' monitor instance! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1874194 Title: Ubuntu 20.04 HDMI connected, no boot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1874194/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1925010] Re: shim-signed 15.4 does not boot on EFI 1.10 systems
Sorry, to bother you. I am not sure, if this relates to this bug. After Upgrades from 20.10 to 21.04 were enabled, I upgraded both of my 20.10 systems to 21.04. On my Intel NUC10 everything worked fine. But my home server were not able to boot anymore. The above-mentioned workaround (replace /EFI/Boot/BOOTX64.efi & /ef/ubuntu/shimx64.efi) helped. The server runs now 21.04. It is worth noting, that the server was able to boot the Ubuntu 21.04 live USB stick in UEFI mode without trouble. The board is an older Fujitsu D3417-B with Intel Skylake. Secure boot is disabled. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1925010 Title: shim-signed 15.4 does not boot on EFI 1.10 systems To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/shim/+bug/1925010/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1928360] Re: Switch to Fcitx 5 for Chinese

Is there such a snap you could point me to so I can test? > For the core18 based platform snaps, we would need to backport the > fcitx5 packages themselves. Alternatively, I wonder if we could get > away with symlinking the old module name to the new one? The latter would be equivalent to assign "fcitx" instead of "fcitx5" to the IM_MODULE variables if I understand it correctly. The Fcitx 5 folks upstream recommend "fcitx" for IM_MODULE. The reason why Debian/Ubuntu currently set "fcitx5" is to deal with systems during a transition period where both fcitx 4 and fcitx 5 are installed. In such cases "fcitx" would result in the fcitx 4 im modules being loaded also when the user runs fcitx 5, and we have assumed that that might be problematic. OTOH, my successful test with Chromium indicates that it works. Now I'm not the right person to evaluate it, since I'm not an input method user, and that's what I want to talk with the Chinese developers in Debian's input method team about. @handsome_feng: Maybe the Kylin team can help to test this, considering that Kylin will be shipped with both fcitx 4 and fcitx 5 in 21.10. If you override im-config and enforce GTK_IM_MODULE and QT_IM_MODULE to be assigned "fcitx" also when using fcitx 5, do you see any adverse side effects? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1928360 Title: Switch to Fcitx 5 for Chinese To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/lubuntu-default-settings/+bug/1928360/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1890772] Re: No signal on 4K 60Hz DisplayPort monitor by default, until "max bpc" is lowered to 8
I came across this bug because of my problem which I described in https://askubuntu.com/questions/1314639/weird-graphics-artifacts- monitor-off-with-ubuntu-20-04-and-nvidia-rtx-5000/1343876#1343876 In my case the Dell monitors tell, they can support 30bit. I came to the conclusion, that the dockingstation's Displayports cannot handle 30bit which leads to strange screen artifacts. However, the HDMI port of the dockingstation outputs 24bits and I have no screen corruption, connecting them directly to laptop is also no problem. [Bug 1928161] Re: Wacom Tablet Map Buttons blank on Wayland
I find the same behavior shown in the screenshot. Steps to reproduce the bug: 1. Connect my wacom tablet (by bluetooth). 2. Open "Settings"-"Wacom Tablet". 3. Select "Tablet". 4. Click on "Map Buttons..." button. The behavior I expected. Something that would allow me to configure the behavior of the buttons on the tablet The behavior I encounter every time I repeat the previous steps. A screen as in the attached screenshot appears, where is it not clear how I can configure anything. Clicking on the tablet button does not have any visible effect, pressing "Esc" does not allow to exit the screen. The only way I found to exit from this situation is to switch off the tablet: I could not find how to get out by pressing any key or clicking anywhere. In this situation I cannot execute the suggested apport-collect command because I cannot do anything useful until I switch off the tablet. Would it still be useful if I execute it whwn the screen of the screenshot is not active? My tablet is different from the one mentioned in the bug (Wacom Intuos BT S) but the behavior is the same. Should I open a new bug? I can add that I find the same behavior under Wayland and under X, however the consequences of the bug are worse in Wayland because in X I can configure the buttons using a script based on xsetwacom. [Bug 1834967] Re: Windows in Activities might be partially off screen
It looks like this issue is back in Ubuntu 21.04. On a fresh install on the same laptop I can see this issue on 21.04 but I cannot see it on 20.04. The issue only occurs when the ubuntu dash extension is enabled. It also persists when I have disabled the ubuntu dash and enabled dash to dock. I can see it with 3 nautilus windows opened simultaneously. When plugged into a 2nd monitor with the monitors oriented top and bottom (and the top monitor being the primary), I can see the cut off elements extend into the bottom monitor. Comment on attachment 9223784 562977-progressmeter-statusbar.patch Review of attachment 9223784: - I tested this on my slow mac and the CPU usage spikes up to 60%, with or without this patch. Nonetheless, the UI changes to the progress bar are welcome as it brings consistency to the interface. I'm not sure I like the current style of the progress bar. The height is a bit too tall and the border + bg color + animation + progress color makes this little widget look a bit busy and over styled. What do you think about: - 4px height - 2px border radius - no border color I'll see if I have any capacity later this week to investigate this and see if I can find how to prevent the spike in CPU usage. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/109943 Title: Thunderbird: high CPU usage from progress bars To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/thunderbird/+bug/109943/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
