[Bug 1933950] Re: I have a black screen when I login in. I have to login through a later version
Thanks. This sounds like it might be a regression in the Intel kernel graphics driver "i915" in version 5.8.0-59 since that's probably what's driving your primary monitor, but the Bug Description also mentions that your Nvidia driver is broken for that kernel version: nvidia, 460.80, 5.8.0-59-generic, x86_64: installed (WARNING! Diff between built and installed module!) (WARNING! Diff between built and installed module!) (WARNING! Diff between built and installed module!) Please try: 1. Uninstall the Nvidia driver. 2. Reboot. 3. Reinstall the Nvidia driver. 4. Reboot. and tell us if the problem still happens. ** No longer affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers-460 (Ubuntu) ** Also affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers-460 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: nvidia-graphics-drivers-460 (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1933950 Title: I have a black screen when I login in. [Bug 1934044] [NEW] openssl removed ssl2/3 and broke cURL because curl uses openssl instead of libssl
Public bug reported: cURL supports a -ssl3 option (and rightly so), but openssl removed it prematurely (see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openssl/+bug/1934040). The fallout: torsocks curl --insecure --ssl-allow-beast -ssl3 -vvI https://xhfheq5i37waj6qb.onion:110 2>&1 * Trying 127.42.42.0:110... * Connected to xhfheq5i37waj6qb.onion (127.42.42.0) port 110 (#0) * OpenSSL was built without SSLv3 support * Closing connection 0 Is it possible that curl's check for ssl3 is flawed? I say that because both curl and fetchmail are dependant on the same libssl pkg, and yet fetchmail can still do ssl3 but curl can't. Neither curl nor fetchmail names "openssl" as a dependency. So curl perhaps should not look to the openssl package to detect ssl3 capability. [Bug 1934040] [NEW] openssl s_client's '-ssl2' & '-ssl3' options gone, prematurely!
Public bug reported: SSL2 and SSL3 have been hastily removed, apparently by developers who are unaware that these protocols serve purposes other than encryption. SSL2/3 is *still used* on onion sites. Why? For verification. An onion site has inherent encryption, so it matters not how weak the SSL crypto is when the purpose is purely to verify that the server is owned by who they say it's owned by. Proof that disclosure attacks on ssl2/3 are irrelevant to onion sites: https://blog.torproject.org/tls-certificate-for-onion-site So here is a real world impact case. Suppose you get your email from one of these onion mail servers: http://onionmail.info/directory.html Some (if not all) use ssl2/3 on top of Tor's inherent onion tunnel. They force users to use ssl2/3, so even if a user configures the client not to impose TLS, the server imposes it. And it's reasonable because the ssl2/3 vulns are orthoganol to the use case. Some users will get lucky and use a mail client that still supports ssl2/3. But there's still a problem: users can no longer use openssl to obtain the fingerprint to pin. e.g. $ openssl s_client -proxy 127.0.0.1:8118 -connect xhfheq5i37waj6qb.onion:110 -showcerts CONNECTED(0003) 140124399195456:error:1408F10B:SSL routines:ssl3_get_record:wrong version number:../ssl/record/ssl3_record.c:331: --- no peer certificate available --- No client certificate CA names sent --- SSL handshake has read 44 bytes and written 330 bytes Verification: OK --- New, (NONE), Cipher is (NONE) Secure Renegotiation IS NOT supported Compression: NONE Expansion: NONE No ALPN negotiated Early data was not sent Verify return code: 0 (ok) --- That's openssl version 1.1.1k Being denied the ability to pin the SSL cert is actually a *degredation* of security. [Bug 1924689] Re: Can see some garbage at the edge of the window after changing scale
Mutter keeps multiple copies of window-related things, moreso on X11 where the server is a separate process with its own idea of how big a window is. That also means a window gets resized in multiple processes at slightly different times. So it's easy to mess up in mutter and get bugs like this (I have done in the past). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1924689 Title: When changing screen scale in GNOME Xorg, gnome-initial-setup's window shadow should not be glitched To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/oem-priority/+bug/1924689/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1924689] Re: Can see some garbage at the edge of the window after changing scale
Tried modifying the source code of gnome-initial-setup, found that this issue cannot be reproduced, if the titlebar of the window (gis- assistant) is not set in the main (gis-driver) window. [Bug 1933707] Re: Many ACPI errors
There are two types of ACPI errors: AE_NOT_FOUND and AE_ALREADY_EXISTS, and both of them are the result of BIOS bugs AE_NOT_FOUND: BIOS declares but does not defines them, and accessing them generates failures - this includes both USB port and touchpad declaration. AE_ALREADY_EXISTS: BIOS defines the same variables twice and kernel complains when it parses the second one. These must be fixed in BIOS so you need to report to Acer, and nothing can be done in Linux kernel. Having say that, these BIOS code can be for dummy devices. If you aren't seeing USB ports and touch failures, they can be safely ignored. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1933707 Title: Many ACPI errors To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1933707/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures. At a minimum, we need: 1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem. 2. The behavior you expected. 3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). Please also ensure that you include the release and flavour of Ubuntu that you are using.
