[Bug 1906476] Re: PANIC at zfs_znode.c:335:zfs_znode_sa_init() // VERIFY(0 == sa_handle_get_from_db(zfsvfs->z_os, db, zp, SA_HDL_SHARED, >z_sa_hdl)) failed
Actually zfs-2.0.2-1ubuntu5, zfs-kmod-2.0.3-8ubuntu5. I'm not sure who to create corruption, but I have plenty of it causing processes to kernel panic. https://github.com/openzfs/zfs/issues/11474 contains some instructions on how to create a corrupted file using wine. Even after this fixed zfs hits, those of us with scrambled file systems are going to need help in clearing out the mess :( So please don't close this bug until there is a mitigation process as well as a fix to zfs to stop it happening further. [Bug 1931660] Re: PANIC at zfs_znode.c:339:zfs_znode_sa_init()
Downgrading these libraries did not fix it for me. One canary is to look at the state of the updatedb.mlocate process which goes into live hang as it hits the file that is currently faulty. Thus for example: 2728 ?DNs0:01 /usr/bin/updatedb.mlocate Using lsof one can find out which is the faulty file but, if you try to ls the directory with the file in, then you terminal live hangs. And if you try to delete the directory containing the faulty file, then that silently fails, leaving the directory and the live hang should you try to read it. It's said that this bug relates to 1906476 and via that to https://github.com/openzfs/zfs/issues/11474 but I think I have that one fixed with zfs_recover=1. But the syslog message is very similar: Aug 11 10:13:45 silmh9 kernel: [ 242.531205] INFO: task updatedb.mlocat:2728 blocked for more than 120 seconds. [Bug 1933979] Re: [MIR] busybox package
Just how bad are the consequences of not promoting this package to main? The code is fairly gross. There's absolute gobs of writing outside array bounds, resource leaks, potential uses of uninitialized variables, etc. I don't know if there's any security-relevant findings -- busybox is almost always restricted solely to a system administrator who is in trouble and needs tools and can't have the Good Tools for whatever reason, so a lot of the choices sort of make sense. However, there's just a lot of choices that may have made sense thirty years ago that just don't make sense today, and a lot of the choices make it much harder to use Coverity or similar tools to find the real bugs. Actually bringing the entire codebase up to modern standards is not going to be cost-effective (and probably not within the goals of the project). [Bug 1939467] Re: GIMP crashes when I tried closing a dock
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Please execute the following command only once, as it will automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal: apport-collect 1939467 When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu- bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs. Please note: `ubuntu-bug`, `apport` & bug reporting tools are provided with Ubuntu by default, many require manual addition for some releases of downstream OSes based on Ubuntu (eg. Linux Mint). You should check with your distribution first. (You've indicated it's a PPA package, which means this will likely be made invalid as it's not a Ubuntu maintained package; unclear due to apport detail missing; PPA package bug reports should be filed with the maintainer of the package you are using) ** Changed in: gimp (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1939467 Title: GIMP crashes when I tried closing a dock To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gimp/+bug/1939467/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1932010] Re: [21.10 FEAT] zlib CRC32 optimization for s390x
At a very quick glance, Simon's patch looks a bit closer to the pull request than the one in comment #4, so if you could test that soon that would be good. Simon, aside from debian/patches/lp1932010-ibm-z-add-vectorized- crc32-implementation.patch which I'm not sure I'm competent to review beyond seeing how it compares to the pull request, your patch looks mostly fine but it seems you've duplicated the definition of CONFIGURE_* in debian/rules? For my concrete situation and launchpad reports, i can tell that at the same time i havent even got any answer for any bug i reported about thunderbird so far… so its not even looked at by maintainers but available to the whole world. (No complain, theres sure enough to do besides caring for a single users rare issues! Only an observation from my perspective) But yeah, there might be insights that i am lacking that make it a good fit. Im not going to insist in changes if you see it as necessary the way it is. I know what to do to work around it now. Thanks for the patch Sergio! Also for the well explained reason why those patches are needed. I did not build the package since it takes too long but I see it built fine in the PPA so far (I'd wait until the builds end in all architectures before uploading it to the archive). So the issue is with the 21.0.3-0ubuntu0.2~20.04.1 version of mesa- vdpau-drivers package apparently? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1939447 Title: Audio plays but no video in vlc To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/vlc/+bug/1939447/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1813003] Re: Invalid free while running docker build
Thanks for the review, Sergio. I addressed your comments and pushed the proposed fix to the following PPA: https://launchpad.net/~athos-ribeiro/+archive/ubuntu/lp-1813003-docker- credential-helpers/+packages ** Patch added: "1-0.5.0-2ubuntu0.1.debdiff" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/golang-github-docker-docker-credential-helpers/+bug/1813003/+attachment/5517153/+files/1-0.5.0-2ubuntu0.1.debdiff ** Description changed: [Impact] The bug results in an error being printed on the user screen when running docker builds. While the error will not cause the build to fail, the bug does prevent users to login on servers with no X11 installed. [Test Plan] - Install docker.io and golang-docker-credential-helpers - Run a simple docker build - Verify that the error occurs - Install the proposed fix - Run a simple docker build - Verify the error is no longer present - alternatively, try to run "docker login" and provide a correct username and password. By the end of the login process, an error will occur and the login will not succeed. ``` apt-get update apt-get install -y docker.io golang-docker-credential-helpers mkdir /tmp/dummy-docker-build cd /tmp/dummy-docker-build cat < Dockerfile FROM ubuntu:focal LABEL hello=label EOF - docker build -t golang-docker-credential-helpers:test + docker build -t golang-docker-credential-helpers:test . # Verify the error is triggered. # update the package and try the build again with # docker build -t golang-docker-credential-helpers:test # from this directory ``` [Where problems could occur] While the patch being applied is a simple, straightforward change, performing a rebuild of this package in bionic may pull newer versions of build dependencies which may cause unpredictable behavior in a stable package. [Other Info] - - This fix is already present upstream, in Debian, and in all following Ubuntu series. + + This fix is already present upstream, in Debian, and in all following + Ubuntu series. [Bug 1939449] Re: Ubuntu Pro UA fails to enable fips-updates on 20.04
Searching AWS marketplace I see that for Ubuntu 18, there are: - Ubuntu Pro FIPS 18.04 LTS (offered by Canonical Group Ltd) - Ubuntu Pro 18.04 LTS (offered by Amazon Web Services) But for Ubuntu 20.04, a "Pro FIPS" variety does not exist, only Ubuntu Pro 20.04 LTS. This is confusing from a user perspective. - Why are there two separate AMIs if Ubuntu Pro is supposed to include the fips modules enabled through UA in the first place? - Why can `fips` or `fips-updates` not be enabled using the Ubuntu Pro 20.04 LTS image? - Why is an Ubuntu Pro FIPS 20.04 LTS missing entirely? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1939449 Title: Ubuntu Pro UA fails to enable fips-updates on 20.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-advantage-tools/+bug/1939449/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

The following upstream stable patches should be included in the Ubuntu kernel: upstream stable patchset 2021-08-10 Ported from the following upstream stable releases: v5.10.51, v5.12.18 from git://git.kernel.org/ drm/mxsfb: Don't select DRM_KMS_FB_HELPER drm/zte: Don't select DRM_KMS_FB_HELPER drm/ast: Fixed CVE for DP501 drm/amd/display: fix HDCP reset sequence on reinitialize drm/amd/amdgpu/sriov disable all ip hw status by default drm/vc4: fix argument ordering in vc4_crtc_get_margins() drm/bridge: nwl-dsi: Force a full modeset when crtc_state->active is changed to be true net: pch_gbe: Use proper accessors to BE data in pch_ptp_match() drm/amd/display: fix use_max_lb flag for 420 pixel formats clk: renesas: rcar-usb2-clock-sel: Fix error handling in .probe() hugetlb: clear huge pte during flush function on mips platform atm: iphase: fix possible use-after-free in ia_module_exit() mISDN: fix possible use-after-free in HFC_cleanup() atm: nicstar: Fix possible use-after-free in nicstar_cleanup() net: Treat __napi_schedule_irqoff() as __napi_schedule() on PREEMPT_RT drm/mediatek: Fix PM reference leak in mtk_crtc_ddp_hw_init() net: mdio: ipq8064: add regmap config to disable REGCACHE drm/bridge: lt9611: Add missing MODULE_DEVICE_TABLE reiserfs: add check for invalid 1st journal block drm/virtio: Fix double free on probe failure net: mdio: provide shim implementation of devm_of_mdiobus_register net/sched: cls_api: increase max_reclassify_loop pinctrl: equilibrium: Add missing MODULE_DEVICE_TABLE drm/scheduler: Fix hang when sched_entity released drm/sched: Avoid data corruptions udf: Fix NULL pointer dereference in udf_symlink function drm/vc4: Fix clock source for VEC PixelValve on BCM2711 drm/vc4: hdmi: Fix PM reference leak in vc4_hdmi_encoder_pre_crtc_co() e100: handle eeprom as little endian igb: handle vlan types with checker enabled igb: fix assignment on big endian machines drm/bridge: cdns: Fix PM reference leak in cdns_dsi_transfer() clk: renesas: r8a77995: Add ZA2 clock net/mlx5e: IPsec/rep_tc: Fix rep_tc_update_skb drops IPsec packet net/mlx5: Fix lag port remapping logic drm: rockchip: add missing registers for RK3188 drm: rockchip: add missing registers for RK3066 net: stmmac: the XPCS obscures a potential "PHY not found" error RDMA/rtrs: Change MAX_SESS_QUEUE_DEPTH clk: tegra: Fix refcounting of gate clocks clk: tegra: Ensure that PLLU configuration is applied properly drm: bridge: cdns-mhdp8546: Fix PM reference leak in virtio-net: Add validation for used length ipv6: use prandom_u32() for ID generation MIPS: cpu-probe: Fix FPU detection on Ingenic JZ4760(B) MIPS: ingenic: Select CPU_SUPPORTS_CPUFREQ && MIPS_EXTERNAL_TIMER drm/amd/display: Avoid HDCP over-read and corruption drm/amdgpu: remove unsafe optimization to drop preamble ib net: tcp better handling of reordering then loss cases RDMA/cxgb4: Fix missing error code in create_qp() dm space maps: don't reset space map allocation cursor when committing dm writecache: don't split bios when overwriting contiguous cache content dm: Fix dm_accept_partial_bio() relative to zone management commands net: bridge: mrp: Update ring transitions. pinctrl: mcp23s08: fix race condition in irq handler ice: set the value of global config lock timeout longer ice: fix clang warning regarding deadcode.DeadStores virtio_net: Remove BUG() to avoid machine dead net: mscc: ocelot: check return value after calling platform_get_resource() net: bcmgenet: check return value after calling platform_get_resource() net: mvpp2: check return value after calling platform_get_resource() net: micrel: check return value after calling platform_get_resource() net: moxa: Use devm_platform_get_and_ioremap_resource() drm/amd/display: Fix DCN 3.01 DSCCLK validation drm/amd/display: Update scaling settings on modeset drm/amd/display: Release MST resources on switch from MST to SST drm/amd/display: Set DISPCLK_MAX_ERRDET_CYCLES to 7 drm/amd/display: Fix off-by-one error in DML net: phy: realtek: add delay to fix RXC generation issue selftests: Clean forgotten resources as part of cleanup() net: sgi: ioc3-eth: check return value after calling platform_get_resource() drm/amdkfd: use allowed domain for vmbo validation fjes: check return value after calling platform_get_resource() selinux: use __GFP_NOWARN with GFP_NOWAIT in the AVC r8169: avoid link-up interrupt issue on RTL8106e if user enables ASPM drm/amd/display: Verify Gamma & Degamma LUT sizes in amdgpu_dm_atomic_check xfrm: Fix error reporting in xfrm_state_construct. dm writecache:

[Bug 1934548] Re: RISC-V: Illegal instruction
The alternative theory here is that this is always breaking at sbi_send_cpumask_ipi, which is being patched at: ffe091e2: f097auipc ra,0xf ffe091e6: dfe080e7jalr-514(ra) # ffe07fe0 I even found ffe091e2 as one of the addresses being patched (look at __start_mcount_loc). And it happens that the patching code will end up calling flush_icache_range (which is really flush_icache_all). That, in turn, will end up doing some form of IPI. So, possibly there is a race involved here, where the IPI code is being executed after it is patched, but before icache is flushed. It's hard to think that this segment lies inside a cache boundary, but there is certainly something else necessary for the sync here. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1934548 Title: RISC-V: Illegal instruction To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-riscv/+bug/1934548/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thanks for the patch and for working on this bug, Athos. A few comments: - Since this is an SRU, the version will be a bit different than in a normal upload to a development version. In this particular case, the version should be: 0.5.0-2ubuntu0.1 - The "Origin:" DEP-3 header should contain the direct link to the commit. It should also specify if this patch is a backport or if it was applied cleanly from upstream. For example: Origin: upstream, https://link.to.commit or Origin: backport, https://link.to.commit Other than that, the patch LGTM. The SRU template also LGTM, but there's a small nit in the Test Case section: the "docker build" command expects the directory where the build will happen as an argument, so I think the command should be: docker build -t golang-docker-credential-helpers:test . Other than that, I followed the reproduction steps and verified that (1) the error is indeed hapening, and (2) it is fixed by this patch. Let me know when you update the patch and I can upload it. [Bug 1936009] Re: [SRU] The internal mic of Dell Precision 5750 can't record sound
Comments #9 and #10 don't indicate which versions of the kernel were tested while the description specifically mentions testing with "the old and new kernel". [Bug 1934548] Re: RISC-V: Illegal instruction
Looking at the crashing address (by doing objdump on the vmlinux from the ddeb), it lands on the middle of an instruction. ffe09204: 99c080e7jalr-1636(ra) # ffe06b9c ffe09208: 0180e797auipc a5,0x180e ffe0920c: f187b783ld a5,-232(a5) # ffe001817120 <__sbi_send_ipi> ffe09210: fd040513addia0,s0,-48 ffe09214: 9782jalra5 ffe09216: fd843703ld a4,-40(s0) Perhaps, the patching done by ftrace is causing this. There is afc76b8b80112189b6f11e67e19cf58301944814 ("riscv: Using PATCHABLE_FUNCTION_ENTRY instead of MCOUNT"), which doesn't refer to any bug that is fixed, but changes the way patches are applied. So, perhaps, this would help fix the issue. Possibly worth the try until this is properly debugged. I can't test it, otherwise, so @xnox, would you be able to try this upstream commit?
