[Bug 1914740] Re: IPs are not assigned for Hipersockets in DHCP mode

2021-08-31 Thread Chris Halse Rogers
Hello bugproxy, or anyone else affected,

Accepted systemd into hirsute-proposed. The package will build now and
be available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/247.3-3ubuntu3.5 in a few
hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been
performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-
hirsute to verification-done-hirsute. If it does not fix the bug for
you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed-hirsute. In either case, without details of your
testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification .  Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

[Bug 1894012] Re: touchpad and keyboard

2021-08-31 Thread cipibad
In my case the keyboard on the laptop was working on GRUB/Recovery mode
but not on normal run.

I compared the kernel modules on the both runs and also did insmod/rmmod
to have the same list without any difference.

Then I went and compare kernel cmdline (/proc/cmdline) and update
arguments one by one and found the one causing the issue!

In my case it was acpi=noirq parameter to kernel boot. Removed it and
now both keyboard and touchpad are working properly.

I can reproduce, but I can even reproduce lots of failures by only
upgrading "libc6" and "libc-bin" (which come in with "docker.io"),
without Docker even installed or being installed. Lots of other
services then try to restart and fail to do so, and "apt update" even
starts failing to resolve DNS.

[Bug 1939853] Re: mysqli: Using a cursor with get_result() and prepared statements causes a segmentation fault

2021-08-31 Thread Matthew Ruffell
Performing verification for Bionic.

I installed php7.2 and php7.2-mysql from -updates, version
7.4.3-4ubuntu2.5.

I also installed mysql and set up the database table and inserted data
into it.

$ sudo apt-cache policy php7.2 | grep Installed
  Installed: 7.2.24-0ubuntu0.18.04.8

$ cat testcase.php
prepare($SQL);
$stmt->attr_set(MYSQLI_STMT_ATTR_CURSOR_TYPE,
MYSQLI_CURSOR_TYPE_READ_ONLY);
$stmt->execute();
if ($stmt) {
$res = $stmt->get_result();
while($row = $res->fetch_assoc()) {
echo json_encode($row) . "\n";
}
}
$dbConn->close()
?>

$ php testcase.php
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
$ tail /var/log/kern.log
Sep  1 03:33:13 ubuntu kernel: [  843.642697] do_general_protection: 5
callbacks suppressed
Sep  1 03:33:13 ubuntu kernel: [  843.642705] traps: php[10167] general
protection ip:7f9256b72f90 sp:7ffc6b263670 error:0 in
mysqlnd.so[7f9256b4a000+38000]

We segfault trying to use the mysqli cursor.

I then enabled -proposed, and installed php7.2 version
7.2.24-0ubuntu0.18.04.9.

$ sudo apt-cache policy php7.2 | grep Installed
  Installed: 7.2.24-0ubuntu0.18.04.9

$ php testcase.php
{"year":21,"month":4,"name":"hirsute"}
{"year":20,"month":10,"name":"groovy"}
{"year":20,"month":4,"name":"focal"}

We no longer segfault, and we can read rows from the mysqli cursor
correctly.

The fixed package in -proposed solves the issue. Happy to mark Bionic as
verified.

[Bug 1939853] Re: mysqli: Using a cursor with get_result() and prepared statements causes a segmentation fault

2021-08-31 Thread Matthew Ruffell
Performing verification for Focal.

I installed php7.4 and php7.4-mysql from -updates, version
7.4.3-4ubuntu2.5.

I also installed mysql and set up the database table and inserted data
into it.

$ sudo apt-cache policy php7.4 | grep Installed
  Installed: 7.4.3-4ubuntu2.5

$ cat testcase.php
prepare($SQL);
$stmt->attr_set(MYSQLI_STMT_ATTR_CURSOR_TYPE,
MYSQLI_CURSOR_TYPE_READ_ONLY);
$stmt->execute();
if ($stmt) {
$res = $stmt->get_result();
while($row = $res->fetch_assoc()) {
echo json_encode($row) . "\n";
}
}
$dbConn->close()
?>

$ php testcase.php
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
$ tail /var/log/kern.log
Sep  1 02:58:22 ubuntu kernel: [ 9394.000341] php[12973]: segfault at

00 48 8b

We segfault trying to use the mysqli cursor.

I then enabled -proposed, and installed php7.4 version 7.4.3-4ubuntu2.6.

$ sudo apt-cache policy php7.4 | grep Installed
  Installed: 7.4.3-4ubuntu2.6

$ php testcase.php
{"year":21,"month":4,"name":"hirsute"}
{"year":20,"month":10,"name":"groovy"}
{"year":20,"month":4,"name":"focal"}

We no longer segfault, and we can read rows from the mysqli cursor
correctly.

The fixed package in -proposed solves the issue. Happy to mark Focal as
verified.

[Bug 1942276] Re: docker 20.10.7-0ubuntu2 fails to start when installed inside Impish LXD container

2021-08-31 Thread Sergio Durigan Junior
Investigating a bit more, here's what we see when we check the status of
docker.socket:

# systemctl status docker.socket
× docker.socket - Docker Socket for the API
 Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/docker.socket; enabled; vendor preset:
enabled)
 Active: failed (Result: exit-code) since Wed 2021-09-01 02:05:47 UTC; 14s
ago
   Triggers: ● docker.service
 Listen: /run/docker.sock (Stream)

Sep 01 02:05:47 test-docker systemd[1]: Starting Docker Socket for the API.
Sep 01 02:05:47 test-docker systemd[2488]: docker.socket: Failed to resolve
group docker: No such process
Sep 01 02:05:47 test-docker systemd[1]: docker.socket: Control process exited,
code=exited, status=216/GROUP
Sep 01 02:05:47 test-docker systemd[1]: docker.socket: Failed with result
'exit-code'.
Sep 01 02:05:47 test-docker systemd[1]: Failed to listen on Docker Socket for
the API.

What caught my attention is the following line:

Sep 01 02:05:47 test-docker systemd[2488]: docker.socket: Failed to
resolve group docker: No such process

It doesn't make sense to me. As can be seen in the bug description, the
"docker" group was properly created *before* the service/socket was
(tentatively) started.

If we inspect the socket, we see that its group is indeed wrong (it
should be "docker", but it's "root"):

# ls -la /var/run/docker.sock
srw-rw 1 root root 0 Sep  1 02:05 /var/run/docker.sock

What's strange is that systemd should be responsible for changing the
ownership of the socket when the service is started, but it can't
(because it fails to "resolve" the "docker" group). strace wasn't very
helpful to determine what's going on here.

It's also interesting to note that I can't reproduce the problem with
docker.io 20.10.7-0ubuntu1 (from impish-release).  The installation
finishes just fine.

I noticed that the last upload was about shipping libnetwork into the
golang-github-docker-docker-dev package. Initially I don't see how this
could have impacted the docker installation here. Maybe libnetwork is
messing with the socket creation somehow?

[Bug 1942276] [NEW] docker 20.10.7-0ubuntu2 fails to start when installed inside Impish LXD container

2021-08-31 Thread Sergio Durigan Junior
Public bug reported:

This bug is blocking docker.io on update-excuses.

I noticed that docker.io version 20.10.7-0ubuntu2 (currently in impish-
proposed) is failing to start when installed inside an Impish LXD
container. You can reproduce the bug by doing:

$ lxc launch ubuntu-daily:impish test-docker -c security.nesting=true
$ lxc shell test-docker
# cat

[Bug 1939255] Re: dhclient triggers systemd-resolved start limit when processing more than 5 interfaces at once

2021-08-31 Thread Chris Halse Rogers
Hello Dan, or anyone else affected,

Accepted systemd into bionic-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/237-3ubuntu10.52 in a few
hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been
performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-
bionic to verification-done-bionic. If it does not fix the bug for you,
please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-
failed-bionic. In either case, without details of your testing we will
not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification .  Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

[Bug 1942265] [NEW] FTBFS with GCC/GFortran 11

2021-08-31 Thread Sergio Durigan Junior
Public bug reported:

mpich is FTBFS'ing with GCC/GFortran 11:

https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mpich/3.4.1-5/+build/21966757/+files/buildlog_ubuntu-
impish-amd64.mpich_3.4.1-5_BUILDING.txt.gz

...
checking whether f77 allows mismatched arguments... yes, with
-fallow-argument-mismatch
configure: error: The Fortran compiler f77 does not accept programs that call
the same routine with arguments of different types without the option
-fallow-argument-mismatch.  Rerun configure with
FFLAGS=-fallow-argument-mismatch
tail -v -n \+0 config.log
==> config.log <==
This file contains any messages produced by compilers while
running configure, to aid debugging if configure makes a mistake.
...

Upon some investigation, I found that the only thing needed is to adjust
the existing GF10_FLAGS (from d/rules) to account for gfortran-11.

I will post a patch soon.

[Bug 1933716] Re: Black screen on boot after stable update

2021-08-31 Thread Mike E.
Just to add a little more information, I have the same issue with a HP
ProBook 450 G6 with an i7-8565U processor. I am running 20.04 and have
had to stick with the 5.8.0-55-generic kernel because anything newer
(e.g. 5.8.0-59-generic) causes this bug to rear its ugly head. I can
set GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="nomodeset" in the /etc/default/grub file
and get the main monitor to display, but then external monitors no
longer work.

[Bug 1942256] [NEW] Custom keyboard shortcuts for tiling ignored after (re)boot

2021-08-31 Thread KojiroAK
Public bug reported:

version 4.16.1 (revision 5f61a84ad) (Xubuntu 21.10)

Steps to reproduce:

Open Window Manager settings in settings "app"
Go to keyboard
Change shortcut for "tile window to the right" to super+d / "to the left"
super+a  / "to the bottom" super+x
Check if it accepted it (should work)
reboot
Try again

In my case the shortcut stops working but it still is shown in the settings
"app".
The actual shortcut is reverted to super+right / super+left / super+down.

Also when pressing super+$key it treats it like just the $key being
pressed (e.g. in a terminal it inserts an a on super+a)

Some shortcuts stick like super+s for "Maximize window" or super+w for
"Tile Window to the top".

After setting the shortcuts anew they work until the next (re)boot. I
haven't tried how it is with just logout login.

2021-08-31 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1942245/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1942255] [NEW] FTBFS with Go 1.17

2021-08-31 Thread William Wilson
Public bug reported:

As of Go 1.17 the flag package will panic if given a syntactically
invalid flag. See https://golang.org/doc/go1.17#flag for more detail.

There is a test in this package that tries to test an invalid usage
scenario by passing a syntactically invalid flag. This causes the build
time test to panic, and the build fails.

[Bug 1773515] Re: apparmor fails after removal of snapd

2021-08-31 Thread Chris Carlin
One problem is that if snapd is removed via installation of a
metapackage (as in my case) then there isn't really a point where the
sysadmin makes the clear choice of purging vs removing.

This bug is still biting, so I wonder if @zyga could revisit this issue.

[Bug 1925261] Re: memory leak on AWS kernels when using docker

2021-08-31 Thread Paul Friel
Tim,

We are running Ubuntu 18.04 with the 5.3.0-1030-aws kernel because that
is the last Ubuntu provided AMI (ubuntu-
bionic-18.04-amd64-server-20200716) that does not contain this kernel
bug. I tried installing the latest supported Ubuntu 18.04 kernel again
yesterday (5.4.0-1055-aws) and verified that the bug still exists.

Today I confirmed that installing the linux-image-5.11.0-1016-aws focal
kernel from https://packages.ubuntu.com/focal-updates/linux-
image-5.11.0-1016-aws on a Ubuntu 18.04 instance does fix this issue for
us. My understanding from https://ubuntu.com/about/release-cycle#ubuntu-
kernel-release-cycle is this configuration isn't really
supported/suggested though, right? We would prefer to use the fully
supported Ubuntu 18.04 AWS kernel if possible.

Thanks,
Paul

[Bug 1942246] [NEW] Option to change WiFi options not available after first typing it

2021-08-31 Thread Nav
Public bug reported:

This is for Ubuntu 20.04 LTS. When I use the GUI to connect to WiFi
(hidden network where the SSID is not broadcast or when the WiFi allows
only devices with recognized MAC addresses to connect), I enter the name
of the WiFi and the password and click ok to connect. It tries to
connect and then says it could not connect. Now I want to try a
different password, but the password field is un-editable. The GUI only
allows me to try connecting to WiFi again. It doesn't allow changing the
details for that particular WiFi connection.

[Bug 1942245] [NEW] Option to change login screen color missing

2021-08-31 Thread Nav
Public bug reported:

This is for Ubuntu 20.04 LTS. Not everyone likes the pink/purple colors
of Ubuntu. We'd prefer to change it to grey/blue shades. But those
options do not appear to be available now, as mentioned here:
https://askubuntu.com/questions/1227070/how-do-i-change-login-screen-
theme-or-background-in-ubuntu-20-04

Apart from login screen, there are a lot of other settings which need to be
provided via the default GUI settings in Ubuntu, instead of expecting us to
open up the /etc/default/grub file or installing gnome-tweaks. Some of these
are:
1. The Ubuntu login screen color.
2. Grub timeout countdown and grub menu options order.
3. Ubuntu splash screen switched off during startup and shutdown.

[Bug 1942243] [NEW] docker.io name is not discoverable (obsolete)

2021-08-31 Thread Philippe Cloutier
Public bug reported:

This package uses the name "docker.io", which apparently refers to docker-io,
an obsolete executable it previously contained:
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/45023363/what-is-docker-io-in-relation-to-docker-ce-and-docker-ee
Docker - whatever that means - is a mysterious thing and I don't know what
exactly this package contains nor what would be an optimal name, but for sure
the current name should be changed.

** Affects: docker.io (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 449225] Re: Airplane mode doesn't persist through shutdown/startup

2021-08-31 Thread Nav
I'm facing this issue on an HP Omen laptop 15ek0018tx. Ubuntu 20.04 LTS 64 bit.
Even if I switch off airplane mode, it turns on when I restart. On switching
off airplane mode, Bluetooth annoyingly becomes active. Please fix this to be
able to permanently switch off airplane mode and Bluetooth (and any other such
settings).
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/1781049

Many other people are facing this too.
