[Bug 1947790] Re: marisa FTBFS on ppc64el
@Gunnar, > I see that only installing g++-10 would have been sufficient. Yes, g++-10 on build-depends is only needed for the bug. The source package of marisa will generate some components, libmarisa, perl/python/ruby bindings. This gcc-10/gcc-11 problem only affects ruby bindings. Other components can build with gcc-11. To build ruby bindings, debian/rules will execute following steps. 1. extconf.rb geneates Makefile for test tool and bindings to link libmarisa 2. execute make command mkmf module in extconf.rb sets CC and some build related environment variables. But this variables will not refer host system directly, instead of this, mkmf refer to ruby embedded information. That is, mkmf will set CC as same as compile to build ruby. Ruby for ppc64el on impish/jammy has builded by gcc-10, mkmf will generate Makefile in which CC is "powerpc64le-linux-gnu-gcc-10". irb(main):004:0> p RbConfig::CONFIG['CC'] "powerpc64le-linux-gnu-gcc-10" => "powerpc64le-linux-gnu-gcc-10" Summarize, the gcc-10 is only needed to build ruby binding of marisa. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1947790 Title: marisa FTBFS on ppc64el To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/marisa/+bug/1947790/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1948561] Re: screechy tinny sound quality
** Description changed: When playing any video other than a youtube video, the sound quality is terrible. It's very tinny and screechy as if it were blowing out the speakers, but even at quiet noise levels. I've tried numerous fixes including editing the config files for pulse audio, adjusting the sound levels in pulseaudio volume control, adjusting the speaker levels in alsa mixer, messing with the levels in pulse effects. Pulseaudio config editing attempts I've tried: - https://askubuntu.com/questions/1108...-sound-quality + https://askubuntu.com/questions/1108825/laptops-speakers-sound-bad-poor-sound-quality https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/PositionReporting https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TjmHVgCSpQQ It is a Realtek ALC3204 sound card on a Dell Inspiron 3501 laptop. Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS 5.11.0-38-generic I can "fix" the audio issue by playing a youtube video (which always plays with good sound quality) and then playing a different video simultaneously. This causes the other video to play with good sound quality. I can then close the youtube video and the other video continues playing with good sound only as long as I don't pause the video or it buffers. This is a very annoying issue and hope it will be fixed soon. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1945590 Title: Thinkpad E14 Gen2: Kernel panic with trackpad and trackpoint enabled To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1945590/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1946368] Re: HDMI output freezes under current/proposed impish kernels

[Bug 1948556] [NEW] calendar has low contrast in both default themes
Public bug reported: Both default dark and light themes of calendar have very low contrast between event and text colour of events. Text colour is always some kind of light grey (dark and light modes) or dark grey (light mode only). On dark theme, setting an account calendar to bright colours doesn't affect the text colour (light text on light background), while the opposite doesn't happen on light theme (text changes colour automatically to dark or light according to background colour). Also, the colours themselves are differently applied than expected: changing an account colour to white while in dark mode changes it to a whitish purple instead of actual white, while changing it to black on light mode changes it to dark grey. [Bug 1948542] [NEW] Impish: perf probe crashes
Public bug reported: Perf crashes when attempting to add probes at certain locations. I submitted a bug via apport, but I have additional details to share (and I couldn't figure out how to find that report). - I was unable to reproduce on the upstream kernel (torvalds/master). - perf probe crashed with the following command: holmanb@arc:~/workspace/Stockfish/src > sudo perf probe -x ./stockfish --add stage_7=next_move:77 zsh: segmentation fault sudo perf probe -x ./stockfish --add stage_7=next_move:77 listing lines that a probe can be attached to (see following) showed that perf probe thinks this line _could_ be added perf probe -L next_move -x ./stockfish case BAD_CAPTURE: 77return select([](){ return true; }); Using torvalds/master, (and stockfish built with the same compiler/arguments), this issue did not occur, and `perf probe -x ./stockfish -L next_move` did not list that address as one available to attach a probe to. Upstream: root@arc-kvm:~/Stockfish/src# perf probe -x ./stockfish --add next_move=next_move:77 This line is sharing the address with other lines. Please try to probe at next_move:73 instead. Error: Failed to add events. This symptom appeared was reproducible when attempting to add a probe at other lines that attempted to return the output of a template function with a lambda argument". holmanb@arc:~ > lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 21.10 Release:21.10 holmanb@arc:~ > apt-cache policy linux-tools-common linux-tools-common: Installed: 5.13.0-19.19 Candidate: 5.13.0-19.19 Version table: *** 5.13.0-19.19 500 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu impish/main amd64 Packages 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu impish/main i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status What I expected to happen: Not a segfault. [Bug 1948541] [NEW] Microphone is silent if left and right channels are set to the same volume
Public bug reported: If the microphone volume is set the same for both left and right channels, it's nearly silent, being unusable, as if the left and right channel cancel each other. The workaround I had on Focal was to create a remapped source only with the right channel. However, on jammy, another bug makes this workaround fail. While I reported the pipewire bug at https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pipewire/pipewire/-/issues/1734 I'm also reporting this bug so, hopefully, the kernel could be fixed and no workaround would be required in the future. The following image shows an example of the volume disparity that makes the microphone work properly: https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/327981417407447040/901465383201013800/unknown.png While such setting allow to use the microphone, it's annoying for the people I'm talking with. [Bug 1948533] [NEW] any dns defined in network-manager doesnt go in openvpn tunnel (leaks on gnome/mate/xubuntu only in 21.10)
*** This bug is a security vulnerability *** Public security bug reported: in all linux including ubuntu up to version 21.04, when dns is set to not automatic in network manager and one dns is set manually (exemple 1.1.1.1) when openvpn is used the dns is going through the vpn tunnel. On ubuntu 21.10 (I tested ubuntu, ubuntu mate and xubuntu)I can affirm the dns in this case is not going trough the vpn.it is leaking.I have used ubuntu for years this is first time this problem occurs (21.10).(and it s not just a question of packages because on my arch linux installs I never had such problem, so it must be a config problem. (when using packages stubby or dnscrypt-proxy (to encrypt dns queries) and dns 127.0.0.1 is set in network-manager the dns does goes trough the vpn (but stubby service needs to be sometimes reloded, it is less reliable that it used to be with previous versions of ubuntu) (I cannot speculate where the bug is from (network-manager, systemd resolved etc) ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Information type changed from Private Security to Public Security -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1948533 Title: any dns defined in network-manager doesnt go in openvpn tunnel (leaks on gnome/mate/xubuntu only in 21.10) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1948533/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1741074] Re: [snap] chrome-gnome-shell extension fails to detect native host connector
It seems, Belgium eID (Comment #36) uses PKCS#11, not native messaging: https://github.com/Fedict/eid-mw/blob/master/plugins_tools/xpi/new-src/manifest.json However the problem is essentially the same: native manifest. Olivier filed a bug in Firefox bugzilla: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/1734371 "Firefox snap can't load PKCS#11 modules on the host system" I suppose, the title of this bug does not reflect scale of the problem. All browser add-ons that relies on native manifests are affected in Chromium and Firefox. I came across this issue testing an extension in Firefox using Ubuntu-21.10 live image. I am considering whether it is feasible to run a kind of thin proxy server on host that creates a socket inside a directory mounted to snap and runs a binary in response to connection (something like inetd). It requires a stub for native messaging app that connects to the server and pass through requests and responses. Generally it does not differ too much from D-Bus and ideally requires support from Firefox for robust checks if particular add-on is allowed to run a specific app. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1741074 Title: [snap] chrome-gnome-shell extension fails to detect native host connector To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/firefox/+bug/1741074/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1948528] [NEW] Mouse pointer doesn't reach left edge of screen
Public bug reported: In the live-boot USB stick of Ubuntu Desktop 20.04 LTS: My mouse pointer does not visually reach the left edge of the screen. Logically the pointer functionality does reach the left edge, in the sense that it can select and copy text that extends to the left edge, but the pointer cannot be viewed performing this action; the displayed pointer stops (appears frozen) about two millimeters from the left edge. The pointer reaches the upper, lower, and right edges of the screen without any problem. My mouse and screen are brand new. My computer is 5 years old (launch 2016, purchase 2019). I have the same problem with my Linux Mint (Cinnamon and Mate desktops), which is based on Ubuntu. I perform regular updates to the system. The file /var/log/Xorg.0.log does not show any errors or warnings related to the mouse. The problem in Linux Mint persists even if I change: - Screen resolution - Theme - Windows settings (Focus mode) - General settings (VSync method, Compositing) - Mouse acceleration and sensitivity - Disabling of all Effects Note that there is no problem with the mouse pointer with a live-boot USB stick containing Linux EndeavourOS. [Bug 1946806] Re: kdeconnect not available in repositories for 20.04
Thanks for reporting. I was unable to reproduce this issue. The kdeconnect package is available (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kdeconnect/1.4-0ubuntu5) and I was able to install it without any issues on Ubuntu 20.04. Could you please run `sudo apt update` to check for updates and sync the package list, then try again? If you still get the same error, could you attach the output from `apt policy kdeconnect` and the full error message from `apt install..` ** Changed in: kdeconnect (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete ** Tags removed: 20.04 installation ** Tags added: focal -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1946806 Title: kdeconnect not available in repositories for 20.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kdeconnect/+bug/1946806/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
