[Bug 1952164] Re: cups.path repeatedly goes into systemd failed state
Discovered this was a system-wide problem, not specifically related to cups. Backup program was holding open a very high number if inotify watches and this was causing issues for other programs (including cups). Solution was to add a conf file in /etc/sysctl.d that set a higher value for fs.inotify.max_user_watches than the default (and then force a reload). In my case, this seems to work: echo "fs.inotify.max_user_watches=131072" >> /etc/sysctl.d/999-local.conf sysctl -p /etc/sysctl.d/999-local.conf Note that this solution may cause other issues on systems with low memory. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1952164 Title: cups.path repeatedly goes into systemd failed state To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups/+bug/1952164/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1926165] Re: Bass speakers not enabled on Lenovo Yoga 9i
Thanks for posting the fix, I tired it out on my Yoga 9 14ITL5 on both the Fedora 35 5.14.18-300.fc35.x86_64 kernel and the Ubuntu 21.10 5.13.0-19-generic kernel with minimal luck. With DAC1 and DAC2 at maximum, the rear speaker sounds like nothing is coming out of it. When DAC1 is turned down to 0, there is audio coming out of the rear speaker, however, the audio output quality is rather poor and tinny. Looking at the kernel source, https://github.com/torvalds/linux/commit/9ebaef0540a981093bce5df15af32354d32391d9 it appears that the kernel version the fix was first released in was 5.13rc4 and looks to appear in all newer tags, so the fix should be in use on my system. [Bug 1948764] Re: Fail to pass suspend/resume test
@Robie The image[1] released by Canonical for Xilinx boards is the only one image which pre-loads this package. The users I mentioned are Xilinx board users. Sorry, I didn't use words precisely. xf86-video-armsoc-endlessm was created for Xilinx boards (zcu102/104/106 and Kria) with mali GPU. Several patches in this package and the mali driver in linux-xilinx-zynqmp are from Xilinx. Some extra gdm3 and xorg config files are also required for enabling mali GPU. It's a customized package for Xilinx boards with mali GPU. You're right. The package is public. Everyone can download it from Ubuntu-archive. But, if users want to use this package on other boards with mali GPU, they need to take many efforts to integrate and verify it on their boards. Meanwhile, there is already another package called xf86-video-armsoc[2] for other boards with mali GPU. And, this package (1.4.1-0ubuntu6~20.04) was released to focal on 06/17 2021. [Bug 1933880] Re: systemd-logind crash when suspend with nvidia-suspend.service masked, bringing session down with it
For me, with nvidia-driver-495, the simple solution was to remove the damaged symlinks from systemd. You most likely have them if you upgraded from nvidia-driver-470 or nvidia-driver-465, because 470 still included the .service files in /lib/systemd/system/. The files are no longer included in 495 but the postinst script does not remove the symlinks. So, remove them with: sudo rm /etc/systemd/system/systemd-hibernate.service.requires/nvidia-resume.service sudo rm /etc/systemd/system/systemd-hibernate.service.requires/nvidia-hibernate.service sudo rm /etc/systemd/system/systemd-suspend.service.requires/nvidia-resume.service sudo rm /etc/systemd/system/systemd-suspend.service.requires/nvidia-suspend.service Works instantly, no need of rebooting or logging off. [Bug 1951476] Re: apache2: mod_ssl fails to load with OpenSSL 3.0
I worked on this a little bit. I backported the 10 patches that are currently present in the PR mentioned above (https://github.com/apache/httpd/pull/258), and verified that they seem to address the problem, at least in the sense that they make mod_ssl loadable again when using OpenSSL 3. I ran apache2's autopkgtests and most of them succeeded; the only failure I'm seeing is actually not related to apache2, and is instead a problem with an uninstallable package currently in jammy-proposed. The situation here is very similar to what's happening with net-snmp and squid: there are upstream patches that can "fix" the compatibility issue with OpenSSL, but upstream is still not entirely comfortable with them. In apache2's case, this situation a bit more complicated because there is apparently a behaviour change/regression that has been found with OpenSSL 3: https://github.com/openssl/openssl/issues/15946 I will keep an eye on the progress of apache2's PR and see what happens. It'd probably be a good idea to have someone from the Security team take a look at this possible regression and assess it. ** Bug watch added: github.com/openssl/openssl/issues #15946 https://github.com/openssl/openssl/issues/15946 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1951476 Title: apache2: mod_ssl fails to load with OpenSSL 3.0 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apache2/+bug/1951476/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1952093] Re: Seeded snaps broken in the Focal dailies
** Also affects: livecd-rootfs (Ubuntu Focal) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Description changed: + [impact] In the recent focal-live-server-amd64 dailies, e.g. in: Ubuntu-Server 20.04.3 LTS "Focal Fossa" - Release amd64 (20211124) some snap related errors are printed to the terminal at boot time, and then subiquity doesn't start. Jumping to tty2 and doing a simple - systemctl status snapd + systemctl status snapd shows that snapd complains about the state of the core18 snap, and indeed /snap/core18/current/ is empty. Reinstalling core18 and refreshing subiquity from the candidate channel makes it start normally. [Bug 1950317] Re: [MIR] Wireguard
I just realized that we have a better DEP8 test already running, but in another source package: src:wireguard-linux-compat, which produces bin:wireguard-dkms. With wireguard now being in the kernel, I wonder if we still need the dkms one. Maybe for cases where someone wants to try a newer version before the kernel is updated? Not sure. In any case, we have good DEP8 coverage already, but split among different source packages: - src:wireguard-linux-compat: sets up a wireguard vpn using network namespaces, and uses ping to test it, similar to what I have done above - src:wireguard: just generates keys, and that test is marked correctly as superficial - src:netplan.io: also sets up a wireguard vpn, and exercises it These are all run together when a new wireguard upload happens. In that sense, we have good coverage, even if we decide to drop the dkms package. The netplan test would still exercise wireguard, but I think it does not use the wg or wg-quick tools to set it up, so we would still benefit from having another end-to-end test using those tools. So I can still add my test to src:wireguard, or copy over the one from src:wireguard-linux-compat. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1950317 Title: [MIR] Wireguard To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/wireguard/+bug/1950317/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Public bug reported: SRU Justification Impact: The upstream process for stable tree updates is quite similar in scope to the Ubuntu SRU process, e.g., each patch has to demonstrably fix a bug, and each patch is vetted by upstream by originating either directly from a mainline/stable Linux tree or a minimally backported form of that patch.
