[Bug 1798363] Re: i2c_hid i2c-ELAN1200:00: i2c_hid_get_input: incomplete report (16/65535)

2021-11-30 Thread abovemind
I am also getting a similar issue on a Razer Blade 15 Advanced
(mid-2021)

i2c_hid_acpi i2c-ELAN0406:00: i2c_hid_get_input: incomplete report
(14/60416)

The only fix that seems to work is a reboot. rmmod and modprobe i2c_hid
and i2c_hid_acpi don't seem to fix the issue. The only workaround I have
found is to disable sleep, and to just use hibernate.

The issue has occurred with all kernels I have tried between 5.13.0 and
5.14.21.

[Bug 1800544] Re: nvme-cli drops bash completion file in wrong location

2021-11-30 Thread Brian Murray
Hello Dan, or anyone else affected,

Accepted nvme-cli into bionic-proposed. The package will build now and
be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvme-
cli/1.5-1ubuntu1.2 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been
performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-
bionic to verification-done-bionic. If it does not fix the bug for you,
please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-
failed-bionic. In either case, without details of your testing we will
not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

2021-11-30 Thread Brian Murray
Hello Yeshayohu, or anyone else affected,

Accepted evolution into impish-proposed. The package will build now and
be available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evolution/3.40.4-1ubuntu2 in a few
hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been
performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-
impish to verification-done-impish. If it does not fix the bug for you,
please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-
failed-impish.

[Bug 446641] Re: [Gamila/Giovani/Neon motherboard] ACPI error prevents drm from loading

2021-11-30 Thread Pierre-Emmanuel Novac
Yes this is a 12 years old bug but here is fix:
Either add "acpi_rsdp=0xf7f70 acpi=rsdt" to your kernel command line parameters
OR flash the patched BIOS at https://badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?p=1088210
for a permanent fix.

[Bug 1824650] Re: Ubuntu freezes when AC 430 WiFi Dongle is plugged in

2021-11-30 Thread Rico Heartstrings
Hello Robert,

Please excuse my late reply. I now have the Ubuntu Studio version
20.04.3 LTS (Kernel 5.4) and the error unfortunately occurs again. But I
found out something interesting: If you "cold boot" Ubuntu Studio with
the WiFi adapter plugged in, the "dmesg error" flooding occurs and the
system freezes. But if you start Windows before and then reboot into
Ubuntu Studio, the stick is mounted as WiFi adapter and usable without
errors.

[Bug 1733301] Re: indicator-applet-complete 1.18.0 icon scaling

2021-11-30 Thread Dani Llewellyn
@Brian It looks like the change from version `build1ubuntu1` to
`ubuntu1` has prevented the update to be recognised as an upgradable
package. (The current version in the archive is `0.8.4-1build1`) That is
unless I'm jumping the gun too quickly, and the package still needs to
work its way through infrastructure to the repo (entirely plausible :-))

It looks like you made this change in your 1) above:

1) Fixed the package version number to 0.8.4-1ubuntu1

[Bug 1952557] Re: Jammy after logging out of wayland session and back in Chrome says it wasn't shut down correctly

2021-11-30 Thread Jonathan Kamens
1) ~/.local/share/gnome-shell/extensions is empty

2) I reproduced this issue with Chromium and there is no Chromium crash
in /var/crash, nor is there an error report for Chromium tied to my
whoopsie ID.

Since the chromium snap is provided by Canonical and this issue is
reproducible with Chromium does that mean it's no longer an "Invalid"
issue?

[Bug 1945795] Re: krb5: Fail to build against OpenSSL 3.0

2021-11-30 Thread Simon Chopin
When I upload to my test PPA I always add a new entry "PPA upload" to
make sure that the whole entry is scrapped, including the ~ppa version
suffix. The actual entry is the one before that.

My usual sponsored uploads are based on debdiffs rather than direct PPA
versions so this has never be an issue. For future reference, what would
be a better way than this? The debdiff seemed too messy to be useful...

Hi, thanks for preparing the package, but to be sponsored the

please update it with an appropriate changelog including the patch name,
what the patch does, and a LP tag to this bug?

[Bug 1952785] [NEW] Hirsute update: upstream stable patchset 2021-11-30

2021-11-30 Thread Kamal Mostafa
Public bug reported:

SRU Justification

Impact:
The upstream process for stable tree updates is quite similar
in scope to the Ubuntu SRU process, e.g., each patch has to
demonstrably fix a bug, and each patch is vetted by upstream
by originating either directly from a mainline/stable Linux tree or
a minimally backported form of that patch. The following upstream
stable patches should be included in the Ubuntu kernel:

   upstream stable patchset 2021-11-30

Ported from the following upstream stable releases:
v5.10.77, v5.14.16
v5.10.78, v5.14.17
v5.10.79, v5.14.18

[Bug 1925182] Re: ERROR: Can't open /var/log/clamav/freshclam.log in append mode (check permissions!)

2021-11-30 Thread Lena Voytek
** Description changed:

+ [Impact]
+
+ When freshclam is enforced by apparmor in Bionic, and clamav packages
+ are updated, the freshclam daemon will fail to restart.
+
+ Adding this fix will allow the freshclam daemon to restart automatically
+ without error after an update.
+
+ This is fixed by backporting a fix made in Debian version 0.101.1+dfsg-1
+ that modifies the post-installation process to deploy the freshclam
+ apparmor profile before restarting the daemon.
+
+ [Test Plan]
+
+ # lxc launch images:ubuntu/bionic test-failure
+ # lxc exec test-failure bash
+
+ # apt update
+ # apt dist-upgrade
+ # apt install -y apparmor apparmor-utils wget software-properties-common
+
+ - Install clamav packages of version 1 before current in bionic

[Bug 1890815] Re: vainfo requires a nvidia sofile not in repositories

2021-11-30 Thread Norbert
Please finally fix this bug by SRU or something. Rebuild VLC, vainfo and so on.
It continues to happen - see questions like
https://askubuntu.com/q/1378418/66509 even with fresh Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS
(20210819) installation.

Moreover I have just confirmed this bug while running vainfo on Ubuntu MATE
22.04 LTS on VAIO F13Z1 with Nvidia GT425M using 390.144 video driver. Can't
play a video with VLC player (see attached log). It is unbelievable.
Fixed by using package from 18.04 LTS as follows:

```
cd ~/Downloads
wget -c
http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/v/vdpau-video/vdpau-va-driver_0.7.4-6ubuntu1_amd64.deb
sudo apt-get install ./vdpau-va-driver_0.7.4-6ubuntu1_amd64.deb
```

But it absolutely unexpected for newbies and inexperienced users.

[Bug 1952784] [NEW] systemd-resolved cannot do dns over tls with server using self signed certificates

2021-11-30 Thread Sergio Callegari
Public bug reported:

While testing functionalities of knot resolver, I am experiencing issues
in how systemd-resolved interacts with it. I have the caching and
forwarding knot resolver running on a debian machine and systemd-
resolved running on an ubuntu focal machine.

It looks like systemd-resolved cannot communicate with kresd, when told
to do so using dns over tls. I think that this is because kresd by
default uses a self signed certificate for TLS and systemd-resolved does
not like it. In fact, if I set dnsovertls on resolved and enable debug
logging, I see in the journal entries like:

Failed to invoke gnutls_handshake: Error in the certificate
verification.

and the name resolution fails:

resolvectl query lwn.net
lwn.net: resolve call failed: All attempts to contact name servers or networks
failed

On the other hand if I set dnsovertls to opportunistic, things seem to
work, but the log reports that systemd-resolved is "Using degraded
feature set UDP for DNS server".

It is my understanding that systemd-resolved should accept self-signed
certificates and should do certificate validation only if a special
syntax is used for for specifying the DNS server to also include a
hostname for the DNS server (see
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Systemd-resolved#DNS_over_TLS). In
fact, the documentation of systemd-resolved seems to be a bit thin on
the matter, particularly because I understand that behaviors are
changing across different systemd-resolved versions.

In any case, being able to make systemd-resolved work with DoT with
servers using self signed certificages would be very useful for testing
and learning.

Unfortunately, trying a more recent version of systemd-resolved is not
really easy without firing up a virtual machine because it is impossible
to update systemd-resolved independently of all the init system, with
some obvious risk of breaking a system.
