[Bug 1952403] Re: Realtek 8822CE wireless card fails to work after laptop discharge in sleep

2021-12-16 Thread Ion Cebotari
I can confirm now that this isn't only an issue of the wireless card.
USB type C doesn't work as well, unless I enter the BIOS on boot. I
will document the error messages I get and return with more data on USB
type C as well

** Summary changed:

- Realtek 8822CE wireless card fails to work after laptop discharge in sleep
+ Laptop discharged while in sleep breaks Realtek 8822CE wireless card and USB
type C on Asus TUF FA506IV

Yes that is correct

Good: 1.1.1l-1ubuntu1
Bad: 3.0.0-1ubuntu1

But to be complete, since not all components have let go of libssl1.1 we
always have both ssl versions installed. Just freeradius is linking to
one or the other.

Good:

Interestingly that is the same in both:
Good: OpenSSL: TX ver=0x303 content_type=256 (TLS header info/)
Bad: OpenSSL: TX ver=0x303 content_type=256 (TLS header info/)

But that is probably defined by moonshot who in Ubuntu [1] had a no
change rebuild against the new openssl.

Yeah I have thos in my autopkgtest VMs like:
  /tmp/autopkgtest.axJ2k1/gss-client-artifacts/freeradius.log
I'll attach them to the bug in the next update after I copied them.

2021-12-16 Thread a1291762
I don't know what happened, but apparently my system doesn't want the
5.13 kernel installed anymore. I just managed to remove it (and the
related NVidia kernel module packages) without causing any conflicts or
triggering any meta-package complaints...

Which is great, because it means I don't have to hack grub into booting
the 5.11 kernel now :)

[Bug 1908800] Re: Wireless card crashes daily on my XPS 13 9380

2021-12-16 Thread Craig Harding
I updated the firmware for this card from the 00157 to the 00288 version of
firmware:
https://github.com/kvalo/ath10k-firmware/tree/master/QCA6174/hw3.0/4.4.1

and it seems to have fixed it but still I get:

ath10k_pci :3a:00.0: failed to install key for vdev 0 peer
MY_AP_MAC_ADDRESS: -110

in my journal and on dmesg. but things seem to not disconnect for me.

[Bug 1955001] Re: File reading speed is slow

2021-12-16 Thread weihang shi
Thanks for your reply, my question is currently in nautilus. When I use
SSH to log in to my user, the time to enter ssh is very short, but it is
very slow when reading the user's home directory. So I guess it is
caused by the slow reading speed of the file.

[Bug 1955087] [NEW] bluetooth cannot transfer files to phone although connected

2021-12-16 Thread Gordon Fitch
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu version: 20.4

Not sure of package (bluez)? (Whatever handles Bluetooth)

What I expected: File is transferred.

What happened: transfer fails with mysterious error code (0x53) which
sometimes shows up on phone and sometimes doesn't. In any case the
transfer fails.

Additional notes: Error was observed before,
see https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=202815, however suggested
solution on that page doesn't work for me so I assume there is some difference.

[Bug 1954815] Re: Support newer kernels

2021-12-16 Thread dann frazier
So it looks like the proposal here is to backport the impish version of
crash back through focal, which means an upstream version bump.
Resolving the issue in this way normally requires a documented special
case to the SRU process[*], and I don't see one that includes the crash
package.

I'd be supportive of such a special case for crash as this package
usually needs updates to support new HWE kernels (same w/ makedumpfile)
but, unless an ubuntu-sru-team members says differently, I think we need
to go through that process first. Cascardo: would you mind drafting a
special case page?

Alternatively, we could investigate if there's a more surgical way to
add support for the desired kernels to the crash version already in
focal.

[Bug 1947452] Re: Please remove maliit from Ubuntu

2021-12-16 Thread Steve Langasek
> The project doesn’t look dead to me…

Nevertheless, it's clear it is no longer being maintained as a package
in Ubuntu, with only distro maintenance uploads (rebuilds for ABI
changes, etc) since at least 2017 and no one pulling new upstream
versions into Ubuntu since 2015. If someone is interested in actually
maintaining this in Ubuntu, we can always see about getting it
reuploaded.

[Bug 1954710] Re: Please temporarily pull php-composer-xdebug-handler 2.0.2-1

2021-12-16 Thread Bryce Harrington
** Description changed:

php-composer-xdebug-handler 2.0.2-1 was sync'd in from Debian, however
the version of composer currently in the archive requires <2.0 to
install. Unfortunately the new composer from debian has a circular
- build dependency with itself, so we still need the old composer to be
- installed. (A few other things like symfony also ftbfs without an
- installable composer binary).
+ build dependency involving php-composer-metadata-minifier which needs
+ the old php-composer-xdebug-handler. (A few other things like symfony
+ also ftbfs without an installable composer binary).

Please pull the binaries for php-composer-xdebug-handler 2.0.2-1 from
jammy. We can re-introduce them once we can update to a newer composer.

[Bug 1955084] [NEW] systemd unit leaves a process running for the system lifetime but it only does anything at shutdown

2021-12-16 Thread Steve Langasek
Public bug reported:

The /lib/systemd/system/unattended-upgrades.service unit leaves a
process, /usr/share/unattended-upgrades/unattended-upgrade-shutdown
--wait-for-signal, running from system start until shutdown. This
increases the minimum memory footprint of every host, VM, or container
where unattended-upgrades is installed. The motivation for having this
systemd unit is clear in terms of the practicalities of implementing
what this unit needs to do, but we should try to find some way to
achieve this which does not rely on increasing the low water mark of
system memory.

I tested an installation of Focal using the Ubuntu 20.04.3 installation
media and while I didn't have nvidia hardware some packages were
suggested for auto-removal - chromium-codecs-ffmpeg-extra,
gstreamer1.0-vaapi, libgstreamer-plugins-bad1.0-0 and libva-wayland2.
These were also in the autoremove list for the reporter.

Public bug reported:

SRU Justification

[Bug 1955082] [NEW] Please remove libcrypt-openssl-pkcs10-perl

2021-12-16 Thread Dan Bungert
Public bug reported:

I request the removal of libcrypt-openssl-pkcs10-perl

* Please remove from Jammy
* Please remove both the source and binary packages
* Rationale: two routines employed by the package tests fail when openssl3 is
used. This goes beyond typical packaging nudging and represents more upstream
work. All vendors shipping this package with openssl3 will have the same
problem. The package has no reverse depends and has not been updated since
2016.
* `reverse-depends -b  libcrypt-openssl-pkcs10-perl` reports "No reverse
dependencies found"

See also https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1001816,
which documents the test failures.

I request the removal of libcrypt-openssl-pkcs10-perl

  * Please remove from Jammy
  * Please remove both the source and binary packages
  * Rationale: two routines employed by the package tests fail when openssl3 is
used. This goes beyond typical packaging nudging and represents more upstream
work. All vendors shipping this package with openssl3 will have the same
problem. The package has no reverse depends and has not been updated since
2016.
  * `reverse-depends -b  libcrypt-openssl-pkcs10-perl` reports "No reverse
dependencies found"

- See also debian bug 1001816, which documents the test failures.
+ See also https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1001816,
+ which documents the test failures.

[Bug 1955077] [NEW] pypy3-lib-testsuite: installation results in SyntaxError

2021-12-16 Thread Heinrich Schuchardt
Public bug reported:

On an armhf system (Raspberry Pi4) with package python3.10 installed:

sudo apt-get install pypy3-lib-testsuite

running pypy3 rtupdate hooks for 7.3
Failed to byte-compile
/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/softwareproperties/extendedsourceslist.py:
File
"/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/softwareproperties/extendedsourceslist.py",
line 436
def __init__(self, sourceslist=None, /, files=None):
 ^
SyntaxError: invalid syntax (expected ')')

I would not expect a syntax error in an installation script.

Best regards

Heinrich

[Bug 1939678]

2021-12-16 Thread Horst Platz
There is an copy & paste bug in my Substitute it must be.

[...]
Substitute "s|http://192.168.56.170:81|http://192.168.56.70|i"
[...]

And i investigate further on i grab some httpd versions i can get from

wget http://archive.apache.org/dist/httpd/httpd-2.4.39.tar.gz
wget http://archive.apache.org/dist/httpd/httpd-2.4.41.tar.gz
wget http://archive.apache.org/dist/httpd/httpd-2.4.51.tar.gz

And i diff mod_proxy_balancer.c from version to version for instance.

:~$ diff httpd-2.4.39/modules/proxy/mod_proxy_balancer.c
httpd-2.4.41/modules/proxy/mod_proxy_balancer.c

In version 2.4.41 mod_proxy_balancer.c and in the further versions i found that
peace of code. And it looks like that trigger the error.

:~$ vim mod_proxy_balancer.c
[...]
/* Ignore parameters if this looks like XSRF */
ref = apr_table_get(r->headers_in, "Referer");
if (apr_table_elts(params)
&& (!ref || !safe_referer(r, ref))) {
ap_log_rerror(APLOG_MARK, APLOG_ERR, 0, r, APLOGNO(10187)
  "ignoring params in balancer-manager cross-site access");
apr_table_clear(params);
}
[...]

If i delete that and recompile than it looks like anything is working
again with the proxy in front of the LB Manager. But i'am not a
Developer and i don't know is that an good idea to delete that code. And
mybe on different places happening other bad things.

Any suggestion is appreciated.

Thx Horst

[Bug 1955075] [NEW] Touchpad not found at all

2021-12-16 Thread Balazs Somogyi
Public bug reported:

Dear Ubuntu Pros,

after 33 years of using MS products I am now trying to get familiar with Linux.
I've installed it on a notebook which previously ran a W10 (with working
touchpad, wlan, and sounds).

The hardware is listed here:
https://linux-hardware.org/?probe=9e28b4c911

Ubuntu didn't recognise the WLan radio, I manually installed the driver,
it runs now.

I've tried to find out why can't the touchpad be recognised, without any
results until now.
The sounds are not working on the built-in speakers, but it goes through a
Bluetooth device.

Thanks you and best regards,
Balazs

[Bug 1941752]

2021-12-16 Thread Lukáš Karas
Created attachment 144593
sample image that is causing the crash

Here is jpg file that is causing the the crash. It is clear that libexiv
is throwing exception when it tries to parse date. This exception is not
catched in gwenview.

$ exiv2 -P X print  test.jpg
Xmp.tiff.SoftwareXmpText13 digiKam-7.1.0
Xmp.tiff.DateTimeXmpText19 2014-09-13T14:36:40
Xmp.tiff.ImageWidth XmpText 4 3110
Xmp.tiff.ImageLength XmpText 4 1553
Xmp.xmp.CreatorTool XmpText13 digiKam-3.5.0
Xmp.xmp.CreateDate XmpText19 2014-09-13T14:36:40
Xmp.xmp.MetadataDate XmpText19 2014-09-13T14:36:40
Xmp.xmp.ModifyDate XmpText19 2014-09-13T14:36:40
Xmp.xmp.Rating XmpText 1 2
Xmp.exif.DateTimeOriginalXmpText19 Uncaught exception:
basic_string::at: __n (which is 19) >= this->size() (which is 19)

$ echo $?

So, fix is obvious. But where it should be fixed? In libexiv or
gwenview?

randomly. I suspect it's related to the amount of load on the service.
Here's a grep from my syslog which shows when the crashes happen:

[Bug 1955070] [NEW] Impish update: upstream stable patchset 2021-12-16

2021-12-16 Thread Kamal Mostafa
Public bug reported:

SRU Justification

Impact:
The upstream process for stable tree updates is quite similar
in scope to the Ubuntu SRU process, e.g., each patch has to
demonstrably fix a bug, and each patch is vetted by upstream
by originating either directly from a mainline/stable Linux tree or
a minimally backported form of that patch. The following upstream
stable patches should be included in the Ubuntu kernel:

   upstream stable patchset 2021-12-16

Ported from the following upstream stable releases:
v5.10.81, v5.14.21, v5.15.4

   from git://git.kernel.org/

Note: upstream stable v5.14 has now reached EOL, as of v5.14.21.

fortify: Explicitly disable Clang support
block: Add a helper to validate the block size
loop: Use blk_validate_block_size() to validate block size
bootconfig: init: Fix memblock leak in xbc_make_cmdline()
net: stmmac: dwmac-rk: fix unbalanced pm_runtime_enable warnings
parisc/entry: fix trace test in syscall exit path
PCI/MSI: Destroy sysfs before freeing entries
PCI/MSI: Deal with devices lying about their MSI mask capability
PCI: Add MSI masking quirk for Nvidia ION AHCI
erofs: remove the occupied parameter from z_erofs_pagevec_enqueue()
erofs: fix unsafe pagevec reuse of hooked pclusters
perf/core: Avoid put_page() when GUP fails
thermal: Fix NULL pointer dereferences in of_thermal_ functions
selftests/x86/iopl: Adjust to the faked iopl CLI/STI usage
KVM: Fix steal time asm constraints
Bluetooth: btusb: Add 0x0b05:0x190e Realtek 8761BU (ASUS BT500) device.
Bluetooth: btusb: Add support for TP-Link UB500 Adapter
string: uninline memcpy_and_pad
btrfs: introduce btrfs_is_data_reloc_root
btrfs: zoned: add a dedicated data relocation block group
btrfs: zoned: only allow one process to add pages to a relocation inode
btrfs: zoned: use regular writes for relocation
btrfs: check for relocation inodes on zoned btrfs in should_nocow
btrfs: zoned: allow preallocation for relocation inodes
UBUNTU: upstream stable to v5.10.81, v5.14.21, v5.15.4

[Bug 1851250] Re: [snap] chromium-browser snap cannot upload files outside ~

2021-12-16 Thread Olivier Tilloy
Thanks for testing, and for the feedback Alberto.
Let's say it's okay to assume that the portal is already running and accessible
through the bus (i.e. the ListActivatableNames path won't be taken − there's an
upstream bug to track this:
https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=1278336).

Then indeed the problem remains for xenial, bionic and focal where the
XDG desktop portal isn't new enough. But it's unlikely that a new major
version of the portal can be backported to these release with a regular
SRU, so it looks like a "Won't Fix" status to me, what do you think?
