[Bug 1608639] Re: [2.0rc3] SSL verification error when connecting to VMware vCenter

2021-12-21 Thread Ginder Innokentiy
MaaS 3.1 and I have same problem: Maas VMware nodes certificate verify
failed

$ openssl s_client -connect server:443 -showcerts < /dev/null|grep Verify
Verify return code: 0 (ok)

$ sudo grep SSL -m 1 /var/snap/maas/common/log/maas.log
2021-12-21T09:11:31+00:00 maas1 maas.rpc.cluster: [error] Failed to probe and
enlist VMware nodes: [SSL: CERTIFICATE_VERIFY_FAILED] certificate verify
failed: unable to get local issuer certificate (_ssl.c:1131)

vCenter 7.0.2

A workaround with protocol='https+unverified' works, but it is not the
best solution

[Bug 1955542] [NEW] Kubuntu OEM Installer crash when clicking next

2021-12-21 Thread mashuptwice
Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce:

- Install Kubuntu as OEM installation
- boot into installer, follow until account creation
- enter account details, click next

- clicking "next" on the next screen crashes the installer

Error message:
  Installer Crashed

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/lib/ubiquity/frontend/kde_ui.py", ;line 1076, in on_next_clicked
  ui=self.pages[self.pagesindex].ui
IndexError: list index out of range

Unfortunately I can't attach any other logs, as the "oem" password is unknown
and a login via tty is therefore impossible

This issue impacts me too... I was just ultra-slow to recognize the
issue.

I saw the issue as difficulty connecting to wifi & raised it in

run/24939/ when I should have tagged this bug report instead.

[Bug 1955532] [NEW] lxqt-config has suggests rule for lxappearance

2021-12-21 Thread Chris Guiver
Public bug reported:

** background

As a result of a reddit query
(https://www.reddit.com/r/Lubuntu/comments/rlozl8/lxappearance_and_cursor_themes/)
I've raised this issue. The reddit initial report was on hirsute, but
I'm looking at jammy source here (& propose fix for jammy only)

A look at lxqt-config-0.17.1/debian finds the following suggests package
rules

---
 38 Suggests: adwaita-qt,
 39 cmst [linux-any] | network-manager-gnome [linux-any],
 40 faenza-icon-theme,
 41 gnome-themes-standard,
 42 gparted | partitionmanager [linux-any],
 43 lxappearance,
 44 lxqt | lxqt-core,
 45 obconf-qt,
 46 qt5-style-plugins,
 47 synaptic
48 Description: LXQt system settings center
---

(the line numbers due to my copying from a qterminal and using `view` to
view the file).

** problem

I personally see no reason for `lxappearance` but I'm quite possibly
missing something.

** additional issue?

If this is an issue; I'd also suggest changing the rule for `synaptic` so it's
`synpatic | muon` which to me makes more sense on a Qt5 desktop.

[Bug 1955295] Re: E:Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

2021-12-21 Thread Chris Guiver
Ubuntu 20.04 LTS comes with apport package installed by default; as it's
the Ubuntu bug tool.

Your system not having it implies you're not running Ubuntu at all, but
an OS based on Ubuntu such as those found at
https://wiki.odroid.com/odroid-n2/os_images/ubuntu

Those OSes whilst based on Ubuntu, are not Ubuntu, thus issues & bug
reports should be filed with the creator of the OS itself and not
upstream here at Ubuntu.

[Bug 1876758] Re: Menu bar missing for various applications

2021-12-21 Thread Troy T Collinsworth
Found the fix on the interwebs -
https://ask.libreoffice.org/t/ubuntu-20-04-no-menu-bar-in-
libreoffice/53831/2

sudo apt remove indicator-appmenu

And then after rebooting there will be some errant entries in the top menu.
Press Windows key + alt key and right mouse click and remove the errant top
menu entries that appeared. Then the window menus will appear.

I totally agree with the poster where I found the fix - With each
release of Ubuntu since 14, it gets worse, but he said 10. I thought it
got better till 10, then worse after 14. I absolutely hate the newer
interfaces and find I have to do more install and exotic configuration
with each release, 18 and now 20.

[Bug 1955513] [NEW] NUC11PAHi7-Tiger Lake

2021-12-21 Thread Victor Estrada
Public bug reported:

in Ubuntu Jammy Jellyfish 22.04, with kernel 5.13.0-22-generic running
on the NUC11PAHi7 hardware platform, the audio is broken. No audio is
output over HDMI or headphone jack despite the sound hardware being
detected. The issue is with the OS/Kernel since I booted the hardware
with Windows 10 and it worked. Another issue is that the machine
constantly drops the WiFi connection, again this is behavior not
observed when I booted into Win 10. BIOS is the stock default version
PATGL357.0041 and there is no other current update available. Please
fix. Thank You.

While we intend to address CVE-2021-41190 with an update, in the
meantime a workaround is to only use registries that you trust to give
you valid data.

Thanks

[Bug 1778087] Re: ELAN1200 touchpad jumps around and disconnects

2021-12-21 Thread Alistair Sutter
@mirh

I just installed 5.14.0-1011-oem from APT and still no dice. Had to
install nvidia-470 to get it to work and broke something with openGL. So
I am now going to revert back to 5.11.

5.15 is slated to release with Ubuntu 22.04 so I have no way to test it
yet since I am still on 20.04.

This bug persists.

[Bug 1955428]

2021-12-21 Thread John D.
I'm also seeing that there has been some activity on CLDR for a
definition of Latin among supported locales:

https://github.com/unicode-org/cldr/blob/main/seed/main/la.xml

However, I see that Ancient / Classical Latin has been used rather than
Ecclesiastical Latin in some cases in the proposed definition. I'm
checking in with the Pontifical Academy for the Latin Language (
https://www.pontificiaacademialatinitatis.org/ ) and with other academic
resources such as the Pontifical Institute for Higher Latin at the
Salesian University in Rome, for a consultation, so as to propose a
correct definition that will be useful for modern uses. If I have any
updates from this consultation, I will post them here.

[Bug 1955504] Re: firmware bug on bootup

2021-12-21 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1955504/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 889598] Re: Installer failed when installing grub (EFI system)

2021-12-21 Thread Beux Didier
The Installation failed when trying to install grub-efi-amd64-signed.
Then I open a shell and chroot me on the target system before updating the
system.
Then, I try to install manually grub-efi-amd64-bin with the parameter
--fix-missing because without, everything crached lamentably. It seem to be the
hash between the cdrom ??? I'v installed it via usb key with the iso file.

Oh yeah, I see the cdrom at /cdrom who contain the cdrom from the key at
sda1.

The checksum seem to not corresponding why ??? The iso come from your site,

Test data:
$ echo file content > f1 && echo filx content > f2
$ bzip2 f1 f2

Other setup:
$ git clone https://gitlab.com/bzip2/bzip2.git
$ ln -nv ./bzip2/bzdiff bzcmp
$ chmod u+x ./bzcmp

In regards to bzcmp, this is a very simple way to check for the issue:
# ubuntu's
$ bzcmp f1.bz2 f2.bz2
cmp: invalid --ignore-initial value '/tmp/bzdiff.8kHv0B9tBJ'
cmp: Try 'cmp --help' for more information.
# original's (https://gitlab.com/bzip2/bzip2)
$ ./bzcmp f1.bz2 f2.bz2

In regard to bzdiff, this is a very simple way to check for the issue:
# ubuntu's
$ bzdiff -y -W20 f1.bz2 f2.bz2
diff: invalid option -- ' '
diff: Try 'diff --help' for more information.
# original's (https://gitlab.com/bzip2/bzip2)
$ bash bzip2/bzdiff -y -W20 f1.bz2 f2.bz2

I think the culprit is the /usr/bin/bzdiff script. Here the difference between
ubuntu's and the original one

[Bug 1955499] [NEW] xfce4-panel some parts are not movable, because they do not have a "move" entry within their context menue

2021-12-21 Thread Thomas Schweikle
Public bug reported:

Some parts of the xfce4-panel are not movable because they do not have a
"move" entry within their context menu. The context menu only shows menu
items from the application the icon represents.

Some of them:
- Module for state messages
- Module for messages

These show icons for various applications. These icons only show the
menus related to these applications, but no menu allowing to move or
remove the module.

[Bug 1955496] [NEW] Imposible to install UEFI into the EFI partition

2021-12-21 Thread Beux Didier
Public bug reported:

At the first installation on a partitioned disk :
1 swap
2 EFI
3 root
4 /usr/local
5 /opt
6 /home
7 /tmp

begin the installation and stop after few minutes saying that Ubuntu try
to install package for Grub UEFI and failed may be the uefi security key
or something like this. (I do not know why) It says also that the system
will not boot and I have to send you this report.

When I open a Shell, and visit the target, I see that I haven't the
right to read without sudo and when I list the content of EFI with sudo
I see that I haven't the right to write inside. Only root can do it.

I see also the old files from Slackware and during the installation I
asked to format all the partitions up-listed.

I'm looking for logs but it seems difficult to find them.

It's done but I just have my server Slackware dead until the solution
will be returned for I can manage the EFI manualy ? Thank you for you
help.

Happy new year and good luck and keep Linux on.

Ok, so this is a bug in the "dnspython" library designate uses.

Version 1.16 which you had installed has:
if mexpiration is None or mexpiration > expiration:
mexpiration = expiration
Which is broken.
Version 2.0.0rc1 has:
if mexpiration is None or \
(expiration is not None and mexpiration > expiration):
mexpiration = expiration
Which works.

[Bug 1955494] [NEW] roger-router crashes while starting

2021-12-21 Thread Thomas Schweikle
Public bug reported:

Roger-Router starts, showing the Assistant-start-button. The only thing you can
do is press this button to start the assistant. Starting the assistant works
exactly once. Right after finishing the first panel asking for a profile name,
the process of detecting routers finishes with success, then roger-router
crashes.
You can start roger-router again. You'll prompted with the
assistant-start-button, press it, enter the same profile name. In tune the
button "Continue" is disabled and you are stuck.
If you select an other name, you can proceed. It will finish the assistant
again successfully, then crash.
You may start roger-router again. You'll prompted with the
assistant-start-button, press it, enter the first profile name. In tune the
button "Continue" is disabled. You'll enter the second profile name. "Continue"
is disabled again. You may select a third profile name, click "Continue" and,
after successfully finishing the assistant, watch roger-router crash.

Every time you do it, a new profile is created somewhere and you are not
allowed to use this profile. Roger-Router will force you to create a new
profile, crashing right after having it created successfully.

[Bug 1891673] Fix merged to neutron (stable/rocky)

2021-12-21 Thread OpenStack Infra
Reviewed: https://review.opendev.org/c/openstack/neutron/+/810427
Committed:
https://opendev.org/openstack/neutron/commit/d87f4f11c7aec16a68efec17eb889abe3b1f9ee2
Submitter: "Zuul (22348)"
Branch:stable/rocky

commit d87f4f11c7aec16a68efec17eb889abe3b1f9ee2
Author: Rodolfo Alonso Hernandez
Date: Thu Jun 3 14:49:45 2021 +

Populate self.floating_ips_dict using "ip rule" information

When the L3 agent starts, reads the floating IP rule priority from
a state file created by "FipRulePriorityAllocator". In case of not
having all floating IPs registers in this file, the method:
- Creates a new priority for this floating IP.
- Creates the "ip rule" in the namespace.
- Adds a new entry in "self.floating_ips_dict".

All "ip rules" present in the namespace that do not match the
registered fixed IP address ("from") and the priority assigned
are deleted.

Closes-Bug: #1891673
Closes-Bug: #1929821

Conflicts:
neutron/agent/l3/dvr_local_router.py
neutron/tests/unit/agent/l3/test_agent.py
neutron/tests/unit/agent/l3/test_dvr_local_router.py

That patch additionally changes to use old IpRuleCommand.add() method
from the ip_lib module as in that branch it's not yet moved to use
pyroute2 library. Additional changes are in the
neutron/agent/l3/dvr_local_router.py file.

[Bug 1955489] [NEW] Patch to polkit policy breaks automatic/unattended updates

2021-12-21 Thread Bleuzen
Public bug reported:

In Kubuntu KDE system settings, there is an option to enable automatic
updates. However I wondered why this never actually updated the system,
despite that I had automatic updates enabled for some time.

Turns out, KDE uses Discover to update the system unattended. And
discover uses packagekit to trigger offline updates.

Now here is the problem: Usually this would work. It does on other
distros which don't patch the polkit policy. But not on (K)ubuntu.

In the package sources there is a patch for the debian/ubuntu package:
/debian/patches/policy.diff

This patch does change the permission to do offline updates from all
active users to only admins.

Here:

With this patch, it prompts the user for a password before allowing
offline updates. Now in unattended update mode, this prompt is hidden.

So basically with that patch, unattended updates on Kubuntu just fail
silently.

Removing this patch (or at least reverting the change in this
"org.freedesktop.packagekit.trigger-offline-update" action) makes auto
updates work again.

Please remove this change from the patch (or even the whole patch? this
was last modified in 2012, so should be reviewed if still needed).

[Bug 1843612] Re: The package is 2 years out of date and is missing key components (e.g. embed.h)

2021-12-21 Thread Jochen Sprickerhof
This bug report is 2 years out of date and is missing key components
(information)

On a more serious note, pybind11 is up to date in Debian and on the way to
Ubuntu, see:
https://people.canonical.com/~ubuntu-archive/proposed-migration/update_excuses.html#pybind11

embed.h is in the pybind11-dev package.

Also note that Ubuntu generally does not update packages to new upstream
versions in a stable release.

[Bug 1847275] Re: stunnel4: "INTERNAL ERROR: Bad magic at ssl.c, line 117" - DoS vulnerability

2021-12-21 Thread Lars Kollstedt
I also think CVE-2021-20230 and this bug are probably two different
things. But Steve Arnold is also addressing CVE-2021-20230 in
Comment#25, and it's still considered unfixed on
https://ubuntu.com/security/CVE-2021-20230. So there is a a relation to
this CVE, but CVE-2021-20230 is not describing this bug.

This Bug should be worth a CVE, but I did't find one really describing
this, yet. I'm trying one of Steves Arnolds Packages, now. Since I was
experiencing crashes due this bug almost every day.

[Bug 903602] Re: CIFS automount with "nounix" option create empty directories

2021-12-21 Thread Björn Jacke
funny, just saw, that the bug is quite exactly 10years old, which is why
it looked like from this month. The problem still looks very similar but
it isn't a regression from 5.4.0.89 to 5.4.0.91 at all. The kernel seems
to get confused though if you mount a share once with and later withouth
unix extensions. In such a situation unmounting *all* cifs shares helped
to solve it. But it still looks buggy that area.

[Bug 1946987] Re: Nvidia 340 Xorg driver is installed but not loaded after OS upgrade

2021-12-21 Thread Jarno Suni
** Description changed:

I tried both nouveau and nvidia-340 drivers. It used to work at least by
the latter one in Xubuntu 18.04, even with HWE kernel

  When using the nvidia-340 driver:
  $ xrandr
xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default
  Screen 0: minimum 1920 x 1200, current 1920 x 1200, maximum 1920 x 1200
  default connected 1920x1200+0+0 0mm x 0mm
     1920x1200 77.00*

A device is connected in HDMI and xrand does not even list the
connector. When using nouveau, HDMI is listed but it shows as
  disconnected.

  WORKAROUND when using nvidia driver:
Log out of session. Then lightdm screen shows on both monitors. And if I then
log in to a session, the extrernal monitor works there, too.
+
+ If I use Budgie Desktop instead of Xfce as desktop environment, it will
+ automatically log out to the LightDM login screen, if I first try to
+ start that Budgie session and then the HDMI output is used as well.

[Bug 1876157] Re: Memtest86+ in Ubuntu 20.04 doesn't work, switch to Coreboot branch or package new release v5.31b is available since 12/04/2020

2021-12-21 Thread Fantu
Hi, I'm working on a new build for debian experimental with version 5.31b
for now multiboot patch is disabled and binaries should be near to upstream
build

work done for now about memtest86+ package is here:
https://salsa.debian.org/debian/memtest86plus/-/commits/debian/experimental

is someone want help to test it

Note for users: 5.31b is marked upstream as not ready for production,
keep attention! even if for what I see for now is better that 5.01 that
is unusable or not correctly working on major of recent systems

About multiboot I don't have knowledge about assembly and the boot part
except a little something done years ago that I hardly remember anything
about, I don't have enough time recently to read up and study the parts.
Is there anyone with enough knowledge about it to help me get the
correct multiboot part please?

[Bug 903602] Re: CIFS automount with "nounix" option create empty directories

2021-12-21 Thread Björn Jacke
I've CCd kernel package maintainer Stefan Bader also.

I've seen this problem on a customer machine also with current linux-
image hwe-18.04 (5.4.0.91) kernels. Directories with nounix mount option
are empty.

Previous 5.4.0.89 seems to have issues *with* unix extensions here
though, that one wan not able to mount at all if the unix mount option
is added.

The current bug with "successful" but empty cifs mounts is worse though.

[Bug 1955428] Re: request la_VA locale

If I have any
updates from this consultation, I will post them here (my understanding
is that comments posted here will be synched back upstream?)

[Bug 641155] Re: New experimental multiboot version of memtest86+ only sees 640K of memory

2021-12-21 Thread Fantu
I'm working on a new build for debian experimental with version 5.31b
but I don't have knowledge about assembly and the boot part except a
little something done years ago that I hardly remember anything about, I
don't have enough time recently to read up and study the parts. Is there
anyone with enough knowledge about it to help me get the correct
multiboot part please?

work done for now about memtest86+ package is here:
https://salsa.debian.org/debian/memtest86plus/-/commits/debian/experimental
