[Bug 1949776] Re: [MIR] wireplumber

2022-06-02 Thread Didier Roche
This is a good initial plan, thanks for working on this! Just a side
note: maybe precise on the doc that this is both for pipewire AND
wireplumber updates (you only mentioned the last).

Ack on the armhf build failure too. MIR team ACK then!

[Bug 1977461] Re: not able to upgrade from ubuntu 14 lts to 20 lts

2022-06-02 Thread Chris Guiver
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Bug reporting is mostly about finding & fixing problems thus preventing
future users from hitting the same bug.

You may find a support site more appropriate, eg.
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu. You can also find help with your
problem in the support forum of your local Ubuntu community
http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at https://askubuntu.com or
https://ubuntuforums.org, or for more support options please look at
https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/community-support/709

Do note however that Ubuntu 14.04 LTS reached the end of it's standard
support back in April-2019 (5 years after release) thus support options
are now limited. This also applies to Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (the release
14.04 upgrades to).

- Ubuntu 16.04 (xenial) reached end-of-standard-support on - April 29, 2021.
- Ubuntu 14.04 (trusty) reached end-of-standard-support on April 25, 2019.

See this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases:

[Bug 1968287] Re: loopback addresses disappear after running "netplan apply" multiple times

2022-06-02 Thread Kazuki Suda
Since the following document states

> but a user can "add" new addresses to the standard loopback interface,
lo, in order to have it considered a valid address on the machine as
well as for custom routing:

I believe that the disappearance of addresses such as `127.0.0.1/8` from
the loopback address is not the expected behavior.

[Bug 1975621] Re: [Star Labs Lite IV] screen flashes on-off unless PSR is turned off

2022-06-02 Thread Rogachyov Lavr Afanasiy

The screen still flickers but seems to happen much less often.

Jun 3 00:03:34 pluton kernel: [ 205.129238] i915 :00:02.0: [drm]
*ERROR* CPU pipe A FIFO underrun

Seems to happen a few minutes after rebooting. Then it is very rare.

Does removing that package force Wayland to use the kernel i915 driver ?
I dont know.

It seems to happen less frequently now.

[Bug 1918948] Re: Issue in Extended Disk Data retrieval (biosdisk: int 13h/service 48h)

2022-06-02 Thread Guilherme G. Piccoli
@Filofel, thanks for your report! Very interesting. Is your machine a
Dell, running with HW RAID?

My experience so far with GRUB and this LP bug is that there are two
things here:

(a) Seems commit [0] might be missing in old Ubuntu releases (IIRC
Xenial, but *maybe* Bionic). This might cause issues with some disks 2T+
...

(b) [And this is the main issue reported in this LP] Dell HW RAID
*legacy BIOS* driver has a bug and fails to inform properly some data to
Grub. In other words: imagine 5x1T disks composing a HW RAID of 5T. Grub
asks BIOS data (through nativedisk likely) and the legacy BIOS driver
from Dell returns data from disk 01 only - 1T of size. So, if GRUB
itself (some module, for example) or the kernel/initrd are present in
sectors *after* disk 01 size, it fails to load.

For more reference on that, please check the following thread:
https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/grub-devel/2021-03/msg00380.html
[According Dell, this is "expected" and UEFI is required!]

So, your case seems a little bit different. Maybe wirth to clarify the exact
model of your 4T disk, the version of Firmware (and of course the machine
model) and maybe collect some GRUB logs.
Interesting that you mentioned running with "--disk-module=ahci" make it works
- I wonder why this isn't set by defualt on Ubuntu, likely there is a reason
and I'm not aware.

Cheers!

[Bug 1895528] Re: Setting in manpage of resolved.conf does not apply

2022-06-02 Thread Daniel von Obernitz
@Dan

thanks a lot for opening an MR. Until today the manpage has not changed
in Ubuntu 20.04 and I guess it won't ever for that LTS version.

But in Ubuntu 22.04 the manpage is correct and corresponds with the
default settings.

So for me this issue is solved and could be closed...

Best regards
Daniel

that's running nightly automated end-to-end system tests. I'll follow up
on Monday with the results from over the weekend.

[Bug 1949966] Re: sshfs randomly corrupts files

2022-06-02 Thread Michael McFadden
I'm recreating this issue on 5.13.0-44-generic #49~20.04.1-Ubuntu SMP
Wed May 18 18:44:28 UTC 2022 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

SSHFS version 2.10.0
FUSE library version: 2.9.9
fusermount version: 2.9.9
using FUSE kernel interface version 7.19

sshfs 3.6.0+repack+really2.10-0ubuntu1 amd64

Additionally, I wrote a script to exercise the bug (I want to know if I
actually fix it by following @Martin 's instructions above.)

It's not a user friendly script - it's only a day old, but someone with
some Python and programming experience can alter it to run it
themselves:
https://github.com/flipmcf/CasterPak/blob/master/tests/test_sshfs.py

The basic idea is to mount the sshfs filesystem and get a hash / digest
on a file directly from the sshfs filesystem

   `md5sum /mnt/fuse/some/path/to/a/file.mp4`

then scp that same file over and locally hash it.

   `scp user@remote:/some/path/to/a/file.mp4 .`
   `md5sum file.mp4`

Then compare the hashes. If the hashes are different, then you are
seeing file corruption somewhere.

An interesting result occurs:

1 - if the testing script is allowed to do a directory listing (
os.listdir() ) to pick a random file to test, you will never get any
corruption; hash values always match.

2. if the testing script is provided a list of files to test (see the
--dirlist option ) then you will start seeing some hash differences

I hope this helps someone. Probably not. I mean, if the fix is to just update
the distribution package, then this kind of analysis is just a waste of time.

[Bug 1975404] Re: Wthi gnome-panel or flashback remote option is gone

2022-06-02 Thread Jeremy Bicha
gnome-remote-desktop requires d-bus interfaces from Mutter. GNOME
Flashback does not use Mutter.

GNOME Flashback won't have integrated remote desktop until it implements
remote desktop itself.

You might be able to use vino or xrdp to share your desktop remotely.
Sorry, I don't know for sure since I don't use GNOME Flashback and
haven't tried using remote desktop there.

[Bug 1976198] Re: [SRU] Possible missing dependencies of libsdl2-dev in Jammy

2022-06-02 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Here's a counterargument.

Anyone upgrading from say middle of June on will get the same amount of
packages to update regardless of whether this bug is fixed or not.

If this bug is fixed before Ubuntu 22.04.1, then anyone installing from
the new release images wouldn't have anything extra to download either.

The vast majority of people that will use Ubuntu 22.04 LTS have not
installed it yet.

My opinion is that this is a FTBFS kind of bug. Reverse dependencies of
libsdl2-dev might not build until this bug is fixed. Is it the position
of the Ubuntu SRU team that FTBFS bugs only need to get fixed in jammy-
proposed and not jammy-updates?

[Bug 1883112] Re: rbd-target-api crashes with python TypeError

2022-06-02 Thread Chris MacNaughton
I didn't run into the same issues with verifying as in comment #11
because my test deployment doesn't have TLS configured, and by having
"api_secure = False" in the /etc/ceph/iscsi-gateway.cfg file, the
problematic werkzeug codepath is bypassed, which allows this
verification to be performed.

[Bug 1968076] Re: [BPO] ipmctl with support for CPS hardware

2022-06-02 Thread Thomas Ward
NACK as is. (negative acknowledgement aka "Debdiff Rejected")

You are attempting to submit a new upstream version not in the Ubuntu
repositories. Unlike Debian, an Ubuntu backport requires a little more
work to push this in.

Jammy has 03.00.00.0423-1. Your debdiff is for 03.00.00.0429 which is
**not** available in any Ubuntu release (even the development release).

Rebase your diff against the package in Jammy (dsc link:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+archive/primary/+sourcefiles/ipmctl/03.00.00.0423-1/ipmctl_03.00.00.0423-1.dsc
- dget this), and then re-provide your debdiff here. I'll check it for
sanity before uploading.

2022-06-02 Thread Alec Leamas
The core issue here is the dependency in vdr. There is a ticket [1]
about this.

Otherwise, the simple work-around is uninstall the lirc package.

This is an old bug. I see no new reports or comments lately, which seems
to indicate that it is fixed in current release.

[Bug 1977457] Re: Failures in test-http2-methods and test-http2-multiplex on ppc64el

The failures probably are triggered from nodejs tests
test/parallel/test-http2-methods.js and test-http2-multiplex.js.
However, there is a newer version of nodejs which doesn't appear to have
run with nghttp2 yet, so trying that retrigger first:

[Bug 1977458] [NEW] Make repository format more dynamic

2022-06-02 Thread soredake
Public bug reported:

Originally posted here: https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/what-do-you-want-
to-see-in-apt/16588/21?u=soredake

I want apt to have a way to define repos like in dnf, current apt format
forces you to specify distro name, focal for example, deb
http://ppa.launchpad.net/fish-shell/release-3/ubuntu focal main, and
after every distro upgrade you need to re-enable repos and change distro
codename in apt.sources. dnf repos works differently
metalink=https://mirrors.rpmfusion.org/metalink?repo=free-fedora-
source-$releasever=$basearch, distro name is replaced with env
variable, which is nice, and after distro update repos does not get
disabled and don't need to change distro codename, as it's dynamic,
which is awesome.

[Bug 1843988] Re: python library installed into site-packages instead of into dist-packages

2022-06-02 Thread Alec Leamas
Sorry for late reply.

The python module contains binary. architecture-dependent code and can
for that reason not be installed in /usr/lib/python3/ due to overall
multi-arch requirements.

That said, the official Debian documents I find are not explicit on how
to install these kind of modules. Sending a message to debian-devel in
an attempt to get this sorted out.

[Bug 1977320] [NEW] libcloud: autopkgtest is flaky due to racy "test_retry_*" tests

2022-06-02 Thread Nick Rosbrook
Public bug reported:

This issue has appeared recently on ppc64el autopkgtest [1]. The issue
is that some of the tests from libcloud/test/test_connection.py
incorrectly assume the mock side effects will always finish within the
specified timeouts, which may not happen depending on the execution
environment.

The following autopkgtest log snippets demonstrate this:

Yes, I agree. Let's downgrade #1 to a recommended TODO, as there is no upload
needed otherwise.
LGTM. MIR team ACK.

No security review is needed, so feel free to pull it in as a dependency

[Bug 1912256] Re: Missing channel binding prevents authentication to ActiveDirectory

2022-06-02 Thread Sergio Durigan Junior
Thank you, Christian.

As discussed with Andreas, I've added a cyrus-sasl2 task to this bug and
assigned him to it. This bug is probably going to involve modifications
on cyrus-sasl2 only; after channel binding has been implemented there,
we should be able to enable it in openldap by just rebuilding the
package. Either way, I'm leaving the openldap task open and assigned to
myself just in case.

Thanks.
