[Bug 1918948] Re: Issue in Extended Disk Data retrieval (biosdisk: int 13h/service 48h)
@Filofel, thanks for your report! Very interesting. Is your machine a Dell, running with HW RAID? My experience so far with GRUB and this LP bug is that there are two things here: (a) Seems commit [0] might be missing in old Ubuntu releases (IIRC Xenial, but *maybe* Bionic). This might cause issues with some disks 2T+ ... (b) [And this is the main issue reported in this LP] Dell HW RAID *legacy BIOS* driver has a bug and fails to inform properly some data to Grub. In other words: imagine 5x1T disks composing a HW RAID of 5T. Grub asks BIOS data (through nativedisk likely) and the legacy BIOS driver from Dell returns data from disk 01 only - 1T of size. So, if GRUB itself (some module, for example) or the kernel/initrd are present in sectors *after* disk 01 size, it fails to load. For more reference on that, please check the following thread: https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/grub-devel/2021-03/msg00380.html [According Dell, this is "expected" and UEFI is required!] So, your case seems a little bit different. Maybe wirth to clarify the exact model of your 4T disk, the version of Firmware (and of course the machine model) and maybe collect some GRUB logs. Interesting that you mentioned running with "--disk-module=ahci" make it works - I wonder why this isn't set by defualt on Ubuntu, likely there is a reason and I'm not aware. Cheers! [Bug 1949966] Re: sshfs randomly corrupts files
I'm recreating this issue on 5.13.0-44-generic #49~20.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Wed May 18 18:44:28 UTC 2022 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux SSHFS version 2.10.0 FUSE library version: 2.9.9 fusermount version: 2.9.9 using FUSE kernel interface version 7.19 sshfs 3.6.0+repack+really2.10-0ubuntu1 amd64 Additionally, I wrote a script to exercise the bug (I want to know if I actually fix it by following @Martin 's instructions above.) It's not a user friendly script - it's only a day old, but someone with some Python and programming experience can alter it to run it themselves: https://github.com/flipmcf/CasterPak/blob/master/tests/test_sshfs.py The basic idea is to mount the sshfs filesystem and get a hash / digest on a file directly from the sshfs filesystem `md5sum /mnt/fuse/some/path/to/a/file.mp4` then scp that same file over and locally hash it. `scp user@remote:/some/path/to/a/file.mp4 .` `md5sum file.mp4` Then compare the hashes. If the hashes are different, then you are seeing file corruption somewhere. An interesting result occurs: 1 - if the testing script is allowed to do a directory listing ( os.listdir() ) to pick a random file to test, you will never get any corruption; hash values always match. 2. if the testing script is provided a list of files to test (see the --dirlist option ) then you will start seeing some hash differences I hope this helps someone. Probably not. I mean, if the fix is to just update the distribution package, then this kind of analysis is just a waste of time. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1949966 Title: sshfs randomly corrupts files To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sshfs-fuse/+bug/1949966/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1976198] Re: [SRU] Possible missing dependencies of libsdl2-dev in Jammy
Here's a counterargument. Anyone upgrading from say middle of June on will get the same amount of packages to update regardless of whether this bug is fixed or not. If this bug is fixed before Ubuntu 22.04.1, then anyone installing from the new release images wouldn't have anything extra to download either. The vast majority of people that will use Ubuntu 22.04 LTS have not installed it yet. My opinion is that this is a FTBFS kind of bug. Reverse dependencies of libsdl2-dev might not build until this bug is fixed. Is it the position of the Ubuntu SRU team that FTBFS bugs only need to get fixed in jammy- proposed and not jammy-updates? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1976198 Title: [SRU] Possible missing dependencies of libsdl2-dev in Jammy To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libsdl2/+bug/1976198/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1883112] Re: rbd-target-api crashes with python TypeError
I didn't run into the same issues with verifying as in comment #11 because my test deployment doesn't have TLS configured, and by having "api_secure = False" in the /etc/ceph/iscsi-gateway.cfg file, the problematic werkzeug codepath is bypassed, which allows this verification to be performed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1883112 Title: rbd-target-api crashes with python TypeError To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ceph-iscsi/+bug/1883112/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1968076] Re: [BPO] ipmctl with support for CPS hardware
NACK as is. (negative acknowledgement aka "Debdiff Rejected") You are attempting to submit a new upstream version not in the Ubuntu repositories. Unlike Debian, an Ubuntu backport requires a little more work to push this in. Jammy has 03.00.00.0423-1. Your debdiff is for 03.00.00.0429 which is **not** available in any Ubuntu release (even the development release). Rebase your diff against the package in Jammy (dsc link: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+archive/primary/+sourcefiles/ipmctl/03.00.00.0423-1/ipmctl_03.00.00.0423-1.dsc - dget this), and then re-provide your debdiff here. [Bug 1977458] [NEW] Make repository format more dynamic
Public bug reported: Originally posted here: https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/what-do-you-want- to-see-in-apt/16588/21?u=soredake I want apt to have a way to define repos like in dnf, current apt format forces you to specify distro name, focal for example, deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/fish-shell/release-3/ubuntu focal main, and after every distro upgrade you need to re-enable repos and change distro codename in apt.sources. dnf repos works differently metalink=https://mirrors.rpmfusion.org/metalink?repo=free-fedora- source-$releasever=$basearch, distro name is replaced with env variable, which is nice, and after distro update repos does not get disabled and don't need to change distro codename, as it's dynamic, which is awesome. ** Affects: apt (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1977458 Title: Make repository format more dynamic To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apt/+bug/1977458/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1843988] Re: python library installed into site-packages instead of into dist-packages
Sorry for late reply. The python module contains binary. architecture-dependent code and can for that reason not be installed in /usr/lib/python3/ due to overall multi-arch requirements. That said, the official Debian documents I find are not explicit on how to install these kind of modules. [Bug 1971128] Re: z3 is incorrectly marked as a MIR candidate
The chain is rustc -> llvm-13 -> llvm-13-dev -> z3, so that's still an issue with Jammy, I think. [Bug 1912256] Re: Missing channel binding prevents authentication to ActiveDirectory
Thank you, Christian. As discussed with Andreas, I've added a cyrus-sasl2 task to this bug and assigned him to it. This bug is probably going to involve modifications on cyrus-sasl2 only; after channel binding has been implemented there, we should be able to enable it in openldap by just rebuilding the package. Either way, I'm leaving the openldap task open and assigned to myself just in case. Thanks. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1912256 Title: Missing channel binding prevents authentication to ActiveDirectory To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cyrus-sasl2/+bug/1912256/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
