[Bug 1544985] Re: Memory Usage explosion (16gb) with not-so-large (248k) SVG

2016-02-12 Thread ~suv
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1533058 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1533058

Thank you for taking the time to file this report.

Based on the default style in the provided SVG test case:

*{stroke-linecap:butt;stroke-linejoin:round;stroke-miterlimit:10;}

this is a known issue reported before and already tracked in
* Bug #1533058 “Fills >8G of RAM opening a small SVG file”
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1533058

The trigger is the very high miter limit set by latest matplotlib
as_default_ style for all stroked paths.

[Bug 1290052] Re: change of ruler's units is not persistent (won't stay changed after restart)

2015-10-05 Thread ~suv
Closing for project 'Inkscape' - not a bug (works as implemented). The
ruler units are based on document properties (per file), not on a global
preferences setting. For existing Inkscape documents, this is based on
information stored in the Inkscape SVG file; for new documents the ruler
units are based on the information in the specific document template
used for the new document).

[Bug 168244] Re: Image tag does not support SVG documents

2015-02-06 Thread ~suv
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 171795 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/171795

Linking as duplicate to bug #171795, which is still open for all
supported platforms (the commit referenced in comment 38 had been
reverted, and even on linux current Inkscape (0.91, 0.91+devel r13904)
uses the Gdk-pixbuf loader to rasterize an SVG image linked via image
tag).

The packaging issue on OS X has been resolved (fixed in packages for
Inkscape 0.48.5 and 0.91), the packaging problem with librsvg and its
gdk-pixbuf loader on Windows is now tracked in bug #1271938 (template
preview image is affected by the same issue).

[Bug 1124954] Re: Inkscape kills some of GTK elements

2015-02-05 Thread ~suv
Closing as invalid - the feedback by the reporter didn't provide any
further useful information, and the known issue [1] is already tracked
elsewhere.

[1] external applications/applets which trigger an export of Inkscape's
clipboard content in various supported output formats, and subsequently
cause Inkscape to produce error messages (similar to the one pasted by
the reporter) from script-based output extensions which for whatever
reason fail to process the temp SVG file holding the clipboard content
(for example because it misses SVG width/height attributes, and has no
layer structure).

[Bug 1330108] Re: SVG exported from LibreOffice Draw messes up rotated text in Inkscape

2014-08-08 Thread ~suv
On OS X 10.7.5, latest Firefox (31.0), latest LO (4.3.0):

The vertical text in the SVG file exported by LO does _not_ render as
expected in current Firefox, nor in Chromium (recent devel snapshot) nor
in Squiggle (Batik 1.7). In my understanding, this is a (confirmed)
regression in LO's SVG export: the 'transform()' attribute should be
applied to the top-level text element, or to a parent container
element, but not to a (nested) tspan element:

Attribute:
  ‘transform’
Elements on which the attribute may be specified:
‘a’, ‘circle’, ‘clipPath’, ‘defs’, ‘ellipse’, ‘foreignObject’, ‘g’, ‘image’,
‘line’, ‘path’, ‘polygon’, ‘polyline’, ‘rect’, ‘switch’, ‘text’, ‘use’
http://www.w3.org/TR/SVG11/attindex.html

Upstream ticket:
- 57215: Wrong text rotation in SVG Export (rotated text appears as
non-rotated):
  https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=57215
«The attribute transform is in an element tspan in the example. But an
element tspan does not allow an attribute transform, see list of attributes
in http://www.w3.org/TR/SVG/text.html#TSpanElement. It should be on the element
g. The syntax would allow it on the element text too, but neither Seamonkey
nor Inkscape will rotate the text then.»
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=57215#c13

Earlier report filed for Inkscape:
- Bug #1277517 “Rotation exported from LibreOffice Calc not honored”

Proposing to link as duplicate to bug #1277517 (closed as 'Invalid' for

[Bug 1207217] Re: Inkscape: Unable to change or select any font

longer installed on the current system (e.g. after a system update), it
is not possible with current stable Inkscape 0.48 to change the font via

[Bug 168244] Re: Image tag does not support SVG documents

2014-03-12 Thread ~suv
On 2014-03-12 22:29 +0100, Krzysztof Kosinski wrote:
Changing bug title - this bug should NOT be fixed by adding a SVG
loader to the packaging, because this will cause the referenced SVG
to be rasterized before display, and we don't want that.

The underlying issue is tracked in
- Bug #171795 “Don't rasterize linked SVG with image”:
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/171795

AFAIU the two reports tracked related, but different issues: the
underlying issue is bug #171795, whereas this one tracked issues with
the current state (img references to SVG documents are rendered via
gkd-pixbif loader) due to packaging of Inkscape outside of linux. If
this report now gets reinterpreted as being about the underlying issue,
I think it should better be marked as duplicate of bug #171795 (than
having two separate reports now tracking the same underlying issue)

[Bug 816666] Re: Inkscape complains there may be data loss when closing file saved as Inkscape svgz

2014-01-25 Thread ~suv
I saved my file as Inkscape svgz and then tried to close it.
 (…)
  Package: inkscape 0.48.1-2ubuntu2

Not reproduced on OS X 10.7.5 with Inkscape 0.47, 0.48.1, 0.48.2,
0.48.3.1, 0.48.4, 0.48+devel r12978.

Steps used in attempts to reproduce:
1) launch inkscape
2) draw a rectangle
3) Ctrl+S
4) choose Compressed Inkscape SVG (*.svgz) file format
5) optionally adjust base filename
6) click 'Save' button (file dialog closes)
7) Ctrl+W

Expected result = actual result:
a) stable: Inkscape closes the document window without further prompts and
quits.
b) trunk: Inkscape closes the document without further prompts, but doesn't
quit (it opens a new document based on the default template).

Seems as if the provided information does not include all necessary
steps to reproduce this issue consistently.

[Bug 733010] Re: Resize page to selection: 'InfinityLine' start/end markers not included

2014-01-24 Thread ~suv
Comment #5:
The resulting page is a bit larger than the actual bbox of the
 selection/content though.

Testing archived trunk builds on OS X 10.7.5:
- reproduced with rev 10795, 11005, 11007, 11008, 11009
- not reproduced with rev 11500, 11250, 11128, 11072, 11034, 11021, 11010

One of the remaining issues seems to have disappeared with the changes from
revision 11010 (the visual bbox now fits tightly, and page size is set
correctly to the size of the visual bbox of the selection):

Martin Owens wrote:

Can not confirm this being fixed, tested and issue still reproduced with
Inkscape 0.48+devel r12504 on
- Ubuntu 13.04 (VM 64bit, trunk PPA)
- Ubuntu 12.10 (VM 64bit, local build)
- Ubuntu 12.04 (VM 64bit, trunk PPA)
- OS X 10.7.5 (local builds, up-to-date MacPorts for dependencies)

with two random sample files from the related ports:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/166371/+attachment/173238/+files/michigan_line_drawing.svg
https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1118698/+attachment/3519609/+files/Clean.svg

Since it apparently works for Martin, it might be of interest for others
to know which OS he used for testing, with which version of libxml2
installed (is it patched by the distribution?), which sample SVG files,
and which local changes to Inkscape trunk are applied that might affect
the tests.

Proposing to revert latest status change and reopen the report.

Patch (e.g. to be able to run it on Fedora 18):
- “paths2openscad Fedora 18 patch”
  http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:40603

By now a newer version of the 'OpenSCAD converter' extensions has been released
(v6), which no longer uses the empty description parameter as spacing element:

[Bug 1204732] Re: inkscape crashed with SIGABRT in __gnu_cxx::__verbose_terminate_handler()

2013-08-12 Thread ~suv
On 2013-08-12 14:11 +0200, JazzyNico wrote:
Confirmed on Windows XP, Inkscape trunk revision 12473 with example 1
from comment #7 (examples 2 and 3 doesn't crash the application).

Thanks for noticing - I failed to catch that this particular crash with
a completely empty description also affects the builds with older
versions of the dependencies on OS X 10.7.5 (see comment #6).

Attached is a patch that tests empty strings (in that case the
 description widget is removed).
 Please test!

r12473+patch tested on OS X 10.7.5 with
A - GTK+/Quartz 2.24.17, glib 2.34.3, libxml2 2.8.0
B - GTK+/Quartz 2.24.20, glib 2.36.4, libxml2 2.9.1

using these test cases:
1) empty description parameter (affects A, B)
2) space ( ) as description content (affects B)
3) newline as description content (affects B)

While the patch does prevent all known variants of the crash, it's still
unclear to me what kind of change in which external library causes the
crashes of type 2) and 3) - the proposed fix doesn't address this
specifically.

The rendered result of the INX file with patched builds differs
depending on this yet unknown difference: description parameters with a
space or newline as content are now omitted too with those patched
builds which otherwise crash (the actual issue example reported here):

Please have a look at the attached sample INX and the screenshot - on
the left the dialog from a patched build which didn't crash before, on
the right from a patched build with newer libs which now no longer
crashes but (somewhat unexpectedly) omits description parameters with
not-quite-empty content (used as spacer elements).

off-topic
Since the crashes of type 2) and 3) are triggered (at least in the
examples I have encountered) by using an not-quite-empty description
parameter (with space or newline as content) as spacer element in custom
extension dialogs - are there other (crash-proof) INX options which
could be used instead for such purposes?
/off-topic

Ubuntu 13.10 Saucy Salamander also has gettext 1.18.1.1 installed
according to https://launchpad.net/gettext - is it possible that a
different external library is triggering this regression (glib, libxml2,
…)?

2013-08-11 Thread ~suv
AFAICT the trigger on Inkscape's side is an empty 'description' parameter (see
attached demos):
   param name=empty_desc_1 type=description xml:space=preserve/param
or:
   param name=empty_desc_1 type=description xml:space=preserve /param
or:
   param name=empty_desc_1 type=description xml:space=preserve
/param

This one with minimal content works:
   param name=empty_desc_1 type=description xml:space=preserve./param

The parameter element in the Egg-Bot extension which triggers the crash:

Reproduced eggbot extension with Inkscape 0.48.4 and 0.48+devel r12442
on OS X 10.7.5 - if using Inkscape with most recent versions of
dependencies (same inkscape versions compiled and running with older
versions of dependencies do not crash):

$ port installed glib2 glibmm gtk2 gtkmm gettext intltool libsigcxx2 | grep
active
  gettext @0.18.3_0 (active)
  glib2 @2.36.3_2 (active)

  gtkmm @2.24.4_0+quartz (active)
  intltool @0.50.2_2+perl5_12 (active)
  libsigcxx2 @2.2.11_0 (active)

Backtrace from current trunk (12442) attached.

[Bug 166371] Re: Illustrator CS SVG won't load: namespace URIs in entities

2013-07-14 Thread ~suv
Turns out that the fix for
- Bug #1025185 “XXE vulnerability during rasterization of SVG images”
  http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~inkscape.dev/inkscape/trunk/revision/11931
reverted the fix for this one:
- Bug #166371 “Illustrator CS SVG won't load: namespace URIs in entities”

http://inkscape.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/inkscape?view=revisionrevision=7900

- reopening this report, and marking bug #1093433 (which was filed to
track that recent regression) as duplicate of this one.
