[Bug 1971010] Re: [vmwgfx] Screen and mouse doesn't work in VirtualBox when paravirtualization is enabled
I have the exact same bug, using Xorg. VM worked until updated to Jammy, now shows just like in OP's video: Launcher is drawn fully, but only the top left part of the background draws. Dragging windows in working portion of screen with mouse doesn't work. The paravirtualization setting has no effect, in my experience - tried every setting and system persists to show the issue. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1971010 Title: [vmwgfx] Screen and mouse doesn't work in VirtualBox when paravirtualization is enabled To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1971010/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1887814] [NEW] 32-bit files not included in nvidia-driver-450
Public bug reported: I upgraded from 440 to nvidia-driver-450, and found that suddenly WINE, Steam, and other 32-bit OpenGL apps would no longer work (64-bit OpenGL apps worked fine). This was tested with the current version: 450.57-0ubuntu2 on groovy. Completely removing nvidia* packages and re-installing did not fix. The issue is compounded by the fact that nvidia-driver-440 has been replaced with a transitional package pointing to the 450 version, so backleveling is not possible. The package also recommends "libnvidia-compute-450:i386 libnvidia- decode-450:i386 libnvidia-encode-450:i386 libnvidia-ifr1-450:i386 libnvidia-fbc1-450:i386", none of which are installable. libnvidia-gl-450:i386 is not installable: Package libnvidia-gl-450:i386 is not available, but is referred to by another package. This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or is only available from another source However the following packages replace it: libnvidia-common-450 libnvidia-common-450 does not contain the 32-bit files, and there is no 32-bit version of that package. Extracting the 32-bit files from the official nVidia package and placing them in a directory linked with ldconfig fixes the issue. [Bug 1299747] Re: Cannot create PGP key in Ubuntu 14.04
THANK YOU to Thomas for this last comment. Even today, running the 17.04 alpha, I thought I had discovered a bug with keys not being generated - when the real problem is that the interface doesn't tell you it will take time for the key to be generated. After waiting several minutes one of the two duplicate keys I attempted to create appeared in my list. The interface generally needs an update to avoid this problem of user confusion. There may be other problems than confusion as well. Since I created two keys with exactly the same name/info, but only see one in my list, how do if I didn't break the process? Not knowing what happened after kicking off the generation, I as a normal user have no idea if it failed to create the second key or it created both but is only showing one in the list because they're not uniquely named. There are four new files in ~/.gnupg/private-keys-v1.d/... and it looks like the key's listed only once in pubring.gpg... It's technical enough that the sort of person who actually uses the Password and Keys GUI can have no confidence in their key's state after experiencing this situation. I deleted the key to start over, some of my trepidation was confirmed: I was asked for two separate confirmations when deleting the key - so I'm guessing it was one for each duplicate. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1299747 Title: Cannot create PGP key in Ubuntu 14.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/seahorse/+bug/1299747/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1306890] Re: KDE-Session crashes when configuring positions of multiple monitors
I'm still seeing this bug still in my fully updated Ubuntu 16.04 alpha. I can recreate it every time. When I start my laptop, it detects the external 2560x1080 external monitor and virtually places it to the right of the laptop screen. Since my laptop is physically to the right of the external monitor, I use systemsettings5/display configuration to drag it to the left of the virtual monitor. If I do that in one single step, I find that it always crashes the session as the original reported. As a workaround, I've found I get the desired positioning in two steps by moving the external monitor to a virtual position /above/ the laptop screen, applying that, then moving the laptop screen to the right of the external monitor. HOWEVER, if I restart the system after using that workaround, KDE will fail to start every time I login, and throw me back to lightDM. The only fix for that is to go to a terminal and delete the screen configuration in ~/.local/share/kscreen/. I then have to move the monitors around again after logging in; I do this every reboot. :\ There's nothing obviously wrong with the "bad" kscreen configuration that prevents login. I've attached it anyway - in case a dev can see where loading it would break things. ** Attachment added: "kscreen config created by two-step reposition, which must be removed to enable login." https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kde-workspace/+bug/1306890/+attachment/4551570/+files/bad_kscreen.545ce9baac837248a33134d9c9dff968 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1306890 Title: KDE-Session crashes when configuring positions of multiple monitors To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kde-workspace/+bug/1306890/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1425961] Re: kscreen no longer detecting disconnection of primary external monitor
It looks like this has improved somewhat: It's no longer necessary to delete the contents of .local/share/kscreen at least. The problem where the system does not appropriately act upon connection/disconnection of the monitor still shows itself in several very obvious ways though: Scenario 1: 1. Connected to external (primary) 2560x1080 monitor, put laptop to sleep. 2. Disconnect monitor. 3. Wake laptop. 4. kscreenlocker_greet is unresponsive, and trying to draw a 2560x1080 unlock screen on the laptop's 1920x1080 screen. 5. The only way to get past this is to go to a terminal and kill the locker process (which will respawn with correct screen info). The correct screen setup will be used after you unlock the respawned locker. Scenario 2: 1. With laptop not connected to monitor, sleep system. 2. Connect to external 2560x1080 monitor. 3. Wake laptop. 4. After unlocking screen, desktop resolution is still 1920x1080, filling only the left 3/4ths of the screen. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1425961 Title: kscreen no longer detecting disconnection of primary external monitor To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kscreen/+bug/1425961/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1435061] Re: KDE 5 is corrupted, after updating Kubuntu
I've seen the same symptoms on several of the updates during the vivid development cycle. I believe I've seen the problems while others haven't because always I go in and change the default theme, colors, positions, etc. and have multiple monitors. My workaround has been to delete everything in ~/.cache and restart KDE. That usually corrects the issue. In worst cases, I've had to remove the plasma* files out of ~/.config. It might be a good idea if the future KDE packages cleared their files out of .cache automagically. [Bug 1282867] Re: Many bugs in rendering with lockups, likely caused by SNA
Another i915 user running KDE here: I started experiencing the exact problems after the package pushes on 2/20. [Bug 974480] Re: Notification area whitelist is obsolete
For a start, it enables us to offer predictable and reliable keyboard access to system menus. How can this be so, when Wine and Java apps are still supported? What makes them different than any other app that doesn't support appindicator? Isn't the fact that they are exceptions somewhat of an acknowledgment that this is a bad idea on some level? Where is the process to appeal for whitelisting of other apps by those of us who otherwise like Unity? Leaving the whitelisting option is much better for everyone, because if an apps tray icon has to be whitelisted and causes problems, that's on the person who whitelisted it. If an app's whitelisted and works fine, all the better. I have spent a lot of time and written a lot of words turning various peoples opinions around to a positive outlook on Unity, and this one change is all it took to drive me to KDE for as long as the programs I use are broken (which looks like forever, given their devs reactions), because I *need*, not *want*, to use those programs. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/974480 Title: Notification area whitelist is obsolete To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/974480/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1079810] [NEW] indicator-sound under XFCE: No way to change device
Public bug reported: When using indicator-sound under XFCE, there is no discernable way for a user to change the device whose volume it represents/controls. If you select 'Preferences', as you would to make this change when using Unity, you are taken to pavucontrol - which has no way to select a device for the control. To manually work around this, you must issue 'sudo gnome-control-center sound' (The sound, bluetooth, and other control center apps don't appear to be visible/accessible without sudo) and change the device. Either indicator-sound should dynamically iterate the devices and give you a chance to select them from its context menu, or pavucontrol needs a way to to change the device, or preferences should fire off the equivalent of 'sudo gnome-control-center sound' (preferably in a way that the user doesn't have to enter their password just to get to the sound preferences). I think the first of the three options is the best, because you wouldn't even need to show the devices in the menu if there were only one - and it would speed up access for people with multiple devices not only under XFCE but under Unity as well. ** Affects: indicator-sound (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1079810 Title: indicator-sound under XFCE: No way to change device To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/indicator-sound/+bug/1079810/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Unless I misunderstand what he said: Nvidia built/released the 304.37 drivers to what they thought would be 1.13 compliant around the 13th, but there was a change in the ABI on the 17th, that broke their compatibility, before the finalization of 1.12.99.905 version on the 21st that is now in the repos. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1037896 Title: Starting Firefox kills xserver immediately when using 2D desktop To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers/+bug/1037896/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 913839] Re: NM can't connect dial-up networking via Bluetooth and Blackberry 9800
Not only does it not work in 12.04, things have degraded even further in Quantal w/kernel 3.5.0-6 such that I can't even enable the box to Access the internet using your mobile phone (DUN). It invariable ends with the Error: Timed out detecting phone details message (and *nothing* added to the syslog). I removed the pairing on both the PC and the phone and rebooted both before starting with fresh pairing in the above situation. Other bluetooth features appear to work fine. For instance, I use blueproximity with it. (Note: I completely disabled blueproximity from startup before running the above test) The same phone continues to work fine for DUN fine with Windows XP. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/913839 Title: NM can't connect dial-up networking via Bluetooth and Blackberry 9800 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/913839/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1019079] Re: package nvidia-current-updates has unmet dependencies!!!
As Dave points out, the real problem is not that there are unmet dependencies for the current package, but that the 302.17 package needs to be recompiled against the new X ABI. It's a bit confusing for users though, since the current package is relatively new. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1019079 Title: package nvidia-current-updates has unmet dependencies!!! [Bug 1019079] Re: [quantal] nvidia-current-updates needs rebuilt for Xserver 1.12
I'm in a very similar boat myself, actually. I too am just an alpha tester here, and this has pretty much put the kibosh to most of my Quantal usage for the moment. Nouveau doesn't work too well with my GTX560Ti (It will only came up in lower resolutions that don't match my monitor) on my main system. But I would expect this problem will affect a *large* percentage of the Quantal testers and developers (especially over the weekend as people reboot after upgrading X), so there will probably be new nvidia-current /nvidia-current-updates packages post-haste. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1019079 Title: [quantal] nvidia-current-updates needs rebuilt for Xserver 1.12 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-updates/+bug/1019079/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1019079] Re: [quantal] nvidia-current-updates needs rebuilt for Xserver 1.12
If you're really stuck, you can workaround the problem like I just did: I manually grabbed the 302.17 nvidia-current and nvidia-current-dev from the xorg-edgers ppa here: https://launchpad.net/~xorg- edgers/+archive/ppa/+sourcepub/2512683/+listing-archive-extra, and manually installed them with dpkg -i. [Bug 974480] Re: Remove Notification area whitelist in 12.10
I gotta agree with Sebastien; this seems like a horrible idea. There are apps that will *never* directly support Unity's notification area, but work fine with whitelisting. I regularly use at least three that I had to whitelist manually. The only reason to remove the option of whitelisting would be to force technical users to decide to either stop using those programs (many of which need a working tray icon to be useful) or stop using Unity.
