John, have you tried disabling the exchange plugin from the main menu of Evolution. I found this was the problem on my install. LDAP was causing me heaps of problems, but the Bug is not specific to Ubuntu. It appears that a plugin in Evolution (installed by default) is at fault. It is highly likely that your LDAP settings are fine, you just need to disable the Exchange Operations plugin. To do this, click Edit, then Plugins, and then unmark the Exchange Operations plugin. Exit, and restart Evolution. Cheers, Joe Bloggs -- LDAP fails. Says it can't find the server, but the server is there and spelled correctly. Works in Windows. No you're right, it isn't the same problem at all. Instead I have two bands running down the screen, one at centre and one at the right. So yes, the driver has changed something, and not for the better. I will file a new report. I will downgrade the package in the meantime. Re: [Bug 30665] Re: [Dapper] Buttons show artifacts with 16MB ATI Radeon M6 LY
Hi, Yes I can confirm that with my machine that there are no longer artifacts as of Feisty. However my machine is no longer a standard install. I am using the radeon driver, and several switches. I can provide a copy of my xorg.conf if you like. I also want to point out that initially the artifacts appeared only in certain themes, in particular the default Human theme. This card is a rotten choice for my Sony Vaio as it lacks the memory to initiate 3D due to the 1400 x 1050 panel installed. However I believe that it gets around this by using apgart to share memory with the system. Unfortunately this fails during the loading of X and hence there is insufficient RAM for 24 bit color DRI. Thanks for the advice Michael. I will give this a go. The issue is, I HAVE TO use 16bit. If I could use 24, then I'd be much happier. I only wish I knew more about this APGart memory thingy, because I am positive that this is where everything is going wrong. Cheers, Adam On Tue, 2006-11-07 at 07:48 +, Michael R. [Bug 36596] Re: system freeze after clicking task manager trash icon in pan newsreader
I have managed to get my system stable now running Edgy. I have modified my xorg.conf with the attached settings, and have been playing with the recommended defaults as you can see. I am so close to getting this completely sorted that I'm getting excited! Whether Paul's patches have made it into the currently release, I am not sure, but the system doesn't crash using 24bit or 16bit. However, if I select 16bit I can get 3D accelleration working, but not with 24 (DRI says dynamic memory allocation failed). Further to this, in 16bit mode (with DRI enabled and 3D for the first time on my Vaio Z1) Firefox and Opera crash whenever I visit a flash site. When in 24bit, not crash, but no 3D. Now, I'd really like to have both (well who wouldn't) or an easy way to change without rebooting? Is there a way to change when the memory allocation (using APGart) is performed, because 32MB is allocated succesfully when in 16bit, but nothing in 24bit. Looking at the logs, it would appear that the memory allocation is happening after the selection of the colour depth. If this could be changed, then perhaps it would work? (Just guessing) Cheers Adam ** Attachment added: Changes made to my xorg.conf http://librarian.launchpad.net/4974707/xorg.changes -- system freeze after clicking task manager trash icon in pan newsreader https://launchpad.net/bugs/36596 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
