[Bug 934371] Re: Unresolvable problem message does not help users and results in less useful bug reports
An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade. This was likely caused by: * Unofficial software packages not provided by Ubuntu Please use the tool 'ppa-purge' from the ppa-purge package to remove software from a Launchpad PPA and try the upgrade again. If none of this applies, then please report this bug using the command 'ubuntu-bug ubuntu-release-upgrader-core' in a terminal. If you want to investigate this yourself the log files in '/var/log/dist-upgrade' will contain details about the upgrade. Specifically, look at 'main.log' and 'apt.log'. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/934371 Title: Unresolvable problem message does not help users and results in less useful bug reports To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-release-upgrader/+bug/934371/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1636719] [NEW] Asus X556U touchpad recognized as a mouse on ubuntu 16.04

[Bug 1514743] Re: System Settings crashes when unchecking "Only Show Current Language"
I found a workaround to this crash... It involves writing the layout name in the search field before unchecking the checkbox. I knew that I wanted Unijoy layout. So: 1. [Bug 1335514] [NEW] Ubuntu unity system tray / notification area / main menu bar launcher icons auto-hide (sub menu)
Public bug reported: Hi, I recently moved from windows 7 to ubuntu. one of the things that is really strange to me is the system tray / notification area / main menu bar launcher icons do not auto hide in to a sub menu like windows xp, vista, 7, 8. It looks like a windows 2000 system tray with icons taking over the entire bar /panel. I for one like to have a lot of launcher icons which i only use sparingly. this feature /bug is especially annyoing for me because the main menu bar in ubuntu doubles as a universal menu and title bar for all apps /windows (when maximized) and it also contains the main menu and (maximize, minimize, close) buttons leaving even less space. I use the window title bar for many things like click, draging and dropping, maximizing / restoring windows, right click menu item close, so since i cant see the menus and the launcher icons take up all the space i end up either clicking on the menu or on one of the launcher icons when i try to do one of the said actions. In addition if i remove the items from main menu bar then it might be difficult for me to display them if i need them which might require some commands in terminal. [Bug 1241750] Re: Often crashing after upgrading to Ubuntu 13.10
Mostafa Najafi (najafiyazdi-m) is right. If medit is ran with sudo, it doesn't crash. I like medit so much that I arranged a temporary solution for myself. - I have installed Main Menu with : sudo apt-get install alacarte - Then I opened Main Menu, navigated to Accessories, then medit menu item. Clicked Properties. - In the Command field, I found the text medit %F (without quotes). I have added sudo before it, making it: sudo medit %F - Clicked OK and quit Main Menu. Now medit doesn't crash when I open it from dash. After opening it from dash I have right-clicked on the launcher icon of medit and clicked Lock to Launcher. Now the launcher shortcut works ok. (I haven't used Software center to install medit, so I had to manually add the icon to Launcher. You may not need to do this.) This solution also works when you open a file with nautilus right click menu. Cool! This is not a permanent solution, I know. But it lets you use medit until the bug is resolved. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1241750 Title: Often crashing after upgrading to Ubuntu 13.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/medit/+bug/1241750/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1246583] [NEW] All hotkeys of LibreOffice don't work in non-English keyboard layout
Public bug reported: Hotkeys (Ctrl+b, Ctrl+s etc) in LibreOffice are language dependent and work in English language only. While writing in any other language i.e. any Cyrillic, it's impossible to use hotkeys, they just don't do anything. Switching to English input language enable hotkeys once again. This is very frustrating as user needs to switch language to save document, to make it bold, or italic, etc. This was not experienced in Ubuntu 13.04. Steps to reproduce: 1. System Settings Text Entry. 2. Add another keyboard layout beside English [In my case it is Bengali (Probhat)] 3. Now launch Writer. 4. Switch the keyboard layout from English (US) to Bengali (Probhat) by pressing Ctrl+Space. 5. Press Ctrl+B to change font weight to bold. Error: Font weight does not get changed. Expected: Font weight should change to bold. Note: none other system hotkeys work as expected. I.e. Ctrl+s to save, or Ctrl+b to subscript, or Ctrl+i to italic etc. Workaround: The only way is to - 1. change the keyboard layout to English 2. then press desired hotkey 3. then switch keyboard layout back to Bengali. The issue is critical, as it make writer very slow for keyboard-only typing. Re: [Bug 1220086] Re: Google Earth still depends on ia32-libs
That's because Google Earth does really depend on ia32-libs. Application won't work without this dependency, theoretically there's a way to isolate only the particular ia32-libs that are used by Google Earth. But I'm afraid this would take too much time and effort. [Bug 336611] Re: googleearth-package does not install required deps on 64bit systems
Hello Dave, Just recently, I finally managed to push the new version of googleearth-package (1.0) into Debian Sid/Jessie, this version deals with the problem you've described in your report above. However, Debian import freeze for Saucy has already been made, and it doesn't seem like 1.0 will make it into 13.10 release. To not leave Ubuntu users neglected, I decided to upload the same version for Ubuntu 12.04/12.10/13.04/13.10 to my PPA dedicated to googleearth-package. Please get it, and report any other problems and bugs you might have. https://launchpad.net/~absinthesyringe/+archive/googleearth-package Also, please inform me if you have any other comments or questions. [Bug 1172904] Re: Nautilus won't start/extremely slow
Interesting note. Even with my Nautilus settings removed, after adding (just) 2GB of files (101785 items) to my Templates directory my Nautilus became unbearably slow to a point of becoming unresponsive. After I moved these same files to Documents directory Nautilus went back to normal. I believe this was problem all along, as I would always add same files to my Templates directory. [Bug 1171451] Re: Ubuntu 13.04 (raring) hangs on minimizing windows
To my experience the freeze happens with the last window that is to be minimized (when there are no further windows on the screen to be minimized). Steps to recreate the problem: 1. Open any 2 apps (it could be Firefox and File manager) 2. Minimize the first app (it will not freeze) 3. Minimize the second app (now it will freeze) As I mentioned above, if I switch to another workspace and then come back to the workspace (Ctrl+Alt+Right , Ctrl+Alt+Left) then the freeze is gone. ** Tags added: desktop last minimize unity window -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1171451 Title: Ubuntu 13.04 (raring) hangs on minimizing windows To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/1171451/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1172904] [NEW] Nautilus won't start/extremely slow
Public bug reported: Hello, Nautilus (files) won't even start on my Ubuntu 13.04. It eventually will start up after some ~10 minutes and will just freeze. I have this problem for some time now where Nautilus was just slow to start or would freeze up. But now it wouldn't even start at all. Please note that I had/have similar (if not same problem) on Debian Sid with 3.8.x kernel. Where Nautilus would just be slow to start, and would eventually freeze up with CPU working at 100% to process Nautilus. How I resolved this problem on Sid is by simply moving back to 3.2.x kernel and everything was fine, even though Nautilus was pretty slow most of the time. I tried doing same thing on 13.04 where I would move from 3.8.x kernel to 3.5.x but without any success. I do have Dropbox (nautilus-dropbox), but nothing would improve even after purging it or using their own package (Dropbox website). There were no changes even after purging Nautilus and then installing it. There would be no changes even after I would do a clean install, basically the more files I put in my home directory the slower my Nautilus would get. I believe this is an upstream bug and I have a feeling it might be related to linux kernel and its encryption (lvm). FYI, my drive is fully encrypted. It also might be worth noting that a *lot* of users suffer from same problem where Nautilus was just extremely slow (http://goo.gl/gvpMY). I believe this is an extremely important bug which should be taken care of, if you need any additional input or logs from me please let me know.
