[Bug 1492580] Re: Display corruption
I am sorry if any of my messages looked like personal attacks, I just wanted to express that nothing was done to communicate any of the information to me in any way. Of course situation like this is extremely frustrating not just for me, but for all unlucky rs600m owners. I understand that people are busy with their own work, but consider this: Ubuntu claims to be an OS friendly to newcomers. In my search for any kind of help not only I had to file a bug, collect information, try different distros, do research on ubuntu forums, google things left and right, but I also have to understand the hierarchy and separation between developers. I don't mind that my graphics card is pretty much crippled and 3d support is just non existent. What I really worry about is that there are people who are new to linux. They encounter the problem and file a bug in hope that it would get resolved and they get nothing. That's the saddest part, because I love Canonical (despite mir) and with this approach Ubuntu just won't fly. Anyways, thank you for being professional despite me being rude (again, please understand, this issue is a couple years old and still not resolved which leads to frustration) and for this wall of text. I guess, that's it with launchpad for me? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1492580 Title: Display corruption To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-ati/+bug/1492580/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1492580] Re: Display corruption
Christopher, if you look at my bug, you might, for a second, see that I provided all the information and additional details on 2014-10-25. I have not heard a single message or a request for more information from you after that. Bug is in "Confirmed" status. Explain to me in human language, why a new identical bug report should be filed on top of the previous one should be helpful. All the information is there and not just from me, but from all the other people too (see https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35998 ). If I would be able to fix issue, I'd fix it a long time ago. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/1382772 The funny thing is, #radeon IRC channel was infinitely more helpful than collective knowledge of launchpad. Didn't fix it despite all the attempts but at least people cared enough to suggest some solutions, which is, apparently, more than anyone here can provide. ** Bug watch added: freedesktop.org Bugzilla #35998 https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35998 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1492580 Title: Display corruption To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-ati/+bug/1492580/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1492580] Re: Display corruption
The situation is pretty goddamn ridiculous. No matter how many bugs are filed (I personally filed one long time ago and I've seen several complete reports just being tossed aside) nobody really cares about such a huge problem in driver. Philosophy of linux was supposed to be breathing a new life in old hardware. Where did that go? Is asking driver to be complete (or, at the very least, taking ATI rs600m from the list of supported by open driver so people won't get fooled by empty promises) is too much? This is just ridiculous.

[Bug 1382772] Re: 1002:7942 [Samsung NP-R58DYLC/SEK] Corrupt panel and graphic artifacts
It seems that there's a problem with how unity handles stretching/repeating images, assuming that curved side panel is stored as whole image but Panel and bottom parts are streched or repeated to fit desktop. P. S. KDE and elementary OS both work just fine so it's not hardware or ati driver (and x1250 is supported by linux ati driver). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1382772 Title: 1002:7942 [Samsung NP-R58DYLC/SEK] Corrupt panel and graphic artifacts To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1382772/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 578018] [NEW] Lubuntu: gtk-window-decorator without function
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: compiz Lubuntu 10.04 (updatet) running compiz sometimes: - when logout user from desktop (means leaving the X/LXDE) and making a new login to LXDE - using ftp-connect within LAN with nautilus (or just using nautilus?) the windows-decorations are missing (same after reboot!) meaning the title-bar, and so on! Sorry for this not clear defined actions, but I think this error appears (with the actions described) in min. 25% of the cases. ps -A shows gtk-window-decorator is running. WORKAROUND: LXterminal --- gtk-window-decorator --replace (or: reboot, login with another user, logout, login with the first user [works 2 times before I found the workaround]) PS: nautilus installed a .desktop with Name=File Manager which overwrites the pcmanfm! Had to chance the name inside the .desktop to Nautilus! [Bug 507153] [NEW] SANE causes Epson Artisan 810 to locks up at beginning of scan
Public bug reported: Epson Artisan 810 works great as a printer and is automatically detected by SANE, but when either a preview or full scan is started using either the auto-document feeder or flatbed mode the scan head moves into position to begin the scan, with the light on, and then locks up. The lights on the front panel blink and the printer stops responding to any function until power cycled. When rebooted it has to recalibrate/resync the scan head as it was left in an unparked state. Scan function via front panel display (which saves the scanned image to a USB memory stick or memory card at low res JPEG) works, so I'm fairly certain this isn't a hardware issue. Printer is being used in network mode (via wifi) on a static IP. SANE detects it properly on it's IP which is shown at the top of the xsane windows. [Bug 505712] [NEW] libglew1.5-dev package does not include pkgconfig file
Public bug reported: pkg-config is an essential tool for software to detect libraries and acquire the build flags to use them properly. This package should contain (ie) /usr/lib/pkgconfig/glew.pc but does not. See Mesa's gl.pc for an example of a similar package. Lack of this file (and thus ability to detect a system-wide library) leads upstream packagers to include a local static copy of GLEW making more work for Ubuntu packagers to modify upstream build scripts to manually link to this library. Please, for the cost of a few hundred bytes in a -dev package it will save a lot of headache. [Bug 489518] [NEW] backports not supported as a software channel
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: apturl While adding arbitrary software repositories via apturl may be a security risk, adding standard Ubuntu repositories such as karmic- backports (and potentially karmic-proposed, etc) would not seem to be. This could be done through apt:foo?channel=karmic-backports if karmic- backports were added to /usr/share/app-install/channels New versions of upstream packages can often not be added to the current release, leaving many upstream projects resorting to their own PPA rather than focusing on the next release and getting backported. [Bug 440684] [NEW] fails to render on Radeon 9250 with larger resolution
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: compiz This appears to be related, but different, from #124519 My display works fine at 1152x870, but when increasing my resolution to 1280x1024 or above the background image, icons, and windows sized to fill much of the screen (or maximized) are rendered as black. Not even a partial window or background is displayed. Twice now when testing this limit X crashed entirely, restarting to gdm. I would assume that GL_MAX_TEXTURE_SIZE = 2048 would permit a 2048 wide screen without problem, though this may be hitting vram limitations. This problem appeared immediately after upgrading to 9.10 beta.
