[Bug 165113] Re: gksudo nautilus won't set ownership/permissions on files below
@David Siegel Well how about when a user wants/ needs to change the permissions not only of the containing folder but also all files and folders contained within said folder? The current and only possible way of doing this on a distro using gnome is to use chmod in the terminal! Apply permissions to enclosed files has for as long as I know never been functional in gnome and looks like it won't be for a long time! -- gksudo nautilus won't set ownership/permissions on files below https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/165113 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 165113] Re: gksudo nautilus won't set ownership/permissions on files below
This bug does not just effect users running nautilus under root prilages but also normally whilst logged in to their prospective user accounts. Why has this bug not been fixed? Surely this bug should have been fixed already, especially as a button advertises this feature but does not function. Therefore any unknowing user may not understand why when pressing the Apply permissions to enclosed files button the permissions of enclosed files have not been changed! It is an annoyance that this button is still non functional even in the new release of ubuntu 9.04 especially as other DM's and OS's have similar features functional! I propose disabling the button in an update to prevent any confusion in the future. -- gksudo nautilus won't set ownership/permissions on files below https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/165113 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 305267] [NEW] iwl3945 Wireless Driver - Random System Freezes
Public bug reported: When not connected to a wireless access point and the wireless card is idle scanning for access points the following message is output in both dmesg and kern.log repeatedly with less than a second in between: [ 119.885976] iwl3945: Error sending REPLY_LEDS_CMD: iwl3945_enqueue_hcmd failed: -28 [ 119.885994] iwl3945: No space for Tx. Further investigation lead me to install ubuntu 7.10 and run similar tests and found that the previous driver ipw3945 did not output these errors when idle. The release of kernel 2.6.27-9 made this matter worse and caused me to revert to kernel 2.6.27-7:14, but this kernel still freezes and the same errors are occuring. It is my belief from these logs and comparison between ubuntu 7.10 and 8.10 that when iwl3945 replaced ipw3945 in 8.04 (the reason I did not update to 8.10 in the first place) it is more than a mere coincidence that the time I started experiencing system freezes is in fact due to a flaw in the new wireless driver iwl3945. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- iwl3945 Wireless Driver - Random System Freezes https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/305267 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 304428] [NEW] Kernel Panic - High Volume Network Traffic using e1000e Intel Gigabit Ethernet

[Bug 304428] Re: Kernel Panic - High Volume Network Traffic using e1000e Intel Gigabit Ethernet
The system freezes up completely, I think it may have somehow been linked to VLC as panics only occured whilst watching remote files/ streams. I noticed the LAN TV provided by my isp continued to send transmit the stream to me even after I had closed the client. Also earlier today I attempted to watch movie on a networked computer using samba using vlc which resulted in a kernel panic. Unfortunately as the system locks up I am unable to get the relevant log files so if and when it does it again I will attempt to get a digital photograph however all that will be shown is the desktop as it was when frozen. -- Kernel Panic - High Volume Network Traffic using e1000e Intel Gigabit Ethernet https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/304428 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 263555] Re: [intrepid] 2.6.27 e1000e driver places Intel ICH8 and ICH9 gigE chipsets at risk
Prior to upgrading to kernel 2.6.27-9 No kernel panics were experienced. However kernel panics seem random they seem to occur during high network activity when using the Ethernet device (Intel Corporation 82573L Gigabit Ethernet Controller) which uses the e1000e driver. No reports of hardware dieing yet and hopefully this bug will be limited to kernel panics! -- [intrepid] 2.6.27 e1000e driver places Intel ICH8 and ICH9 gigE chipsets at risk https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/263555 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 302800] [NEW] Nautilus owner permissions - does not set to sub dirs and files
Public bug reported: Clicking on Apply Permissions to Enclosed Files under the Permissions tab in a folders properties does not set the desired owner for all sub folders and files. However other permissions such as file access and folder access are set correctly. This is an annoyance as if a user is required to set the owner of a large number of files and/or folders the only alternative is to use chmod from the CLI! ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Nautilus owner permissions - does not set to sub dirs and files https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/302800 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
