The following command: sudo ethtool -s eth0 wol d Successfully turns off WOL (at least makes the driver think that) therefore the NIC gets deactivated when the computer is shutdown. Is there a way to make this permanent? Considering that I have implemented a patch to reload the e1000e module when the power source is changed to prevent the machine from locking up due to a bug in the e1000e module. (This fix was created after this bug was found and therefore is not the cause)
