Public bug reported:

Duplicate of Bug 971728?

I have this WiFi adapter:

NetGear, Inc. WN111(v2) RangeMax Next Wireless [Atheros AR9170+AR9101]

After what appears to be a random amount of time, all IP network
activity ceases, though the physical network remains connected. The
issue can be brought on by saturating my internet download capacity
which is approximately 30Mbps for me. It will downlaod at full speed for
a few seconds and then fail.

Ubuntu 11.10 and Kernel 3.2 had no issue.

Disabling 802.11n stopped the frequent dropouts.

This is still a regression issue because I have used 802.11n without
issue previously.

[Bug 753144] Re: focused, or maximized windows blank

2011-11-13 Thread Ben Shaw
I experienced the same behaviour (reducing window size would eventually
reveal window content) in 11.04. In 11.10 unity hardly works at all...
all windows are white.

I can also confirm this is still a problem with Oneiric. Unity is just
spastic, unstable windows, menus, white windows, all of the problems
outlined in this bug report remain extant, if not were worse for me
after upgrading. It is impossible to use Unity, however fortunately for
me Gnome 3 works well, and Unity 2D, and Gnome 2 are also acceptable.

I can also report that NVIDIA 285.05.09 Linux Driver did not solve the
problem for me. I reverted back to 280.13.

[Bug 753144] Re: focused, or maximized windows blank

2011-05-08 Thread Ben Shaw
Thanks for the suggestion dreamfire. Increasing the Frame Buffer Size in
bios to 256MB increased the reported memory on my card to 512MB also.

The result is I can now work in unity! (Yay!)

Though the problem still exists if I open too many windows, though this
is much more manageable now as the tolerance is almost doubled before
the bug kicks in. For me this is a suitable work around until the bug is
fixed. The system and graphics rendering appears to be a bit more
sluggish, though I have no way to quantify this. Will try to reduce some
visual effects to increase performance.

[Bug 756510] Re: all my windows are white under unity

2011-04-29 Thread Ben Shaw
Sorry for the delay. I was waiting for the final release of 11.04.
Problem still exists.

I have not installed Gnome 3. I am running 11.04 with Unity, but I must
login to Ubuntu Classic to avoid this problem.

sudo lshw -c display gives the following:

   description: VGA compatible controller

ps aux | grep compiz produces:

How Roman describes it is exactly how it affects me also.

[Bug 756510] Re: all my windows are white under unity

2011-04-23 Thread Ben Shaw
I have same issue with Unity in 11.04 (no issue in Gnome Classic).

If I have a one window of any program open, no problem usually. When I
start getting multiple windows, its like some sort of limit is reached
and further windows are rendered white. If i resize windows to make them
smaller, it fixes the issue sometimes, but when maximised or made larger
they go to being rendered white.

See attached screenshot for example. Firefox is rendered white on the
right hand side, but if I resize it to make it smaller it renders
correctly. I am also running the propriety nvidea driver and have dual
display.
