[Bug 1887190] Re: MSFT Touchpad not working on Lenovo Legion-5 15ARH05

2020-07-25 Thread Ben T
Nicolas -- I've seen the R7000 Chinese post
(https://www.cnblogs.com/mikeguan/p/13126497.html), and what it
basically entails is blacklisting hid_multitouch (or disabling it in the
kernel and recompiling), which according to other forums seems to have
an effect on some touchpads, but has no effect on the MSFT0001:00
04F3:3140 touchpad we have. I attempted his suggestions anyways, and
saw the same lack of results -- the touchpad remained dead.

[Bug 351186] Re: [ubuntu 9.04] slow unminimizing with ati card and desktop effects enabled

2009-06-10 Thread Ben T
On irc, someone suggested I do this, and it really helped with video
playback.

Go to System Pref Main Menu, Under System
Prefs, tick Multimedia Systems Selector. Close. Open up
Multimedia Systems Selector, on the Video tab, change the
plugin from autodetect to X Window System (No Xv)

[Bug 76286] Re: Video settings get messed up after using GUI to disable power management.

2006-12-19 Thread Ben T
There is a definite difference in the device and monitor section. My
best guess is that this is a bug in gnome-power-manager. However, it
might help the GNOME developers to submit a bug on their bug tracker at:
(http://bugzilla.gnome.org/). Also, there are a couple of models of the
ATI rage. See: (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ATI_Rage).

[Bug 76205] Re: synaptics 4-way scroll no work

2006-12-18 Thread Ben T
Some info provided, is it enough?

** Description changed:

The following codes will enable the 4-way scroll.

  # set Left-scroll to act like Left-arrow
  setkeycodes 5a 105

  # set Right-scroll to act like Right-arrow
  setkeycodes 59 106

  # set Up-scroll to act like Up-arrow
  setkeycodes 69 103

  # set Down-scroll to act like Down-arrow
  setkeycodes 68 108
+
+ The 4-way scroll is suppose to scroll the contents of a window. It looks
+ like a D-pad under the touchpad and is on some laptops. I suspect it is
+ part of the Synaptics touchpad? I know that setting the above keycodes
+ makes the 4-way scroll work. Windows doesn't even do this, anyway if you
+ will tell me where to look I'll get you the hardware information. I
+ looked in device manager but did not see anything there that looked like
+ the 4-way scroll pad? It could be there maybe just not identified as
+ such? I suppose it could also be linked in the version or type of
+ touchpad?
+
+ Version: Dapper Drake.

2006-12-18 Thread Ben T
I'm attaching your xorg.conf, so someone can look at this and try to
help. Though, I noticed that your monintor settings are a little funky.

Try removing the:
SubSection Display
Depth 1
Modes 1024x768
EndSubSection

Through the 15.

I've never seen a graphics card/monintor that can handle 1bit of data.
Also, back up your xorg.conf when you are doing this... never can be too
sure what will happen.
