[Bug 1970056] Re: Ubuntu 22.04 unable to mount root partition

2022-06-04 Thread Brad Jolly
After testing kernel 5.18.0 from mainline, the issue does appear
resolved -- the system will boot with "pci=nocrs" and the touchpad,
touchscreen function.

[Bug 1970056] Re: Ubuntu 22.04 unable to mount root partition

2022-04-24 Thread Brad Jolly
After a clean install of Ubuntu 22.04, I have the same issue on an Acer
Spin 5 SP513-54N-74V2. Installing and booting into kernel 5.13.19 works
fine and resolves the issue. With kernel 5.15 and no "pci=nocrs," the
error seems to be i2c_designware: failed to claim resource.

[Bug 778195] Re: mozplugger/firefox does not open documents/apps within browser

2011-10-20 Thread Brad Jolly
Did not work for me, either. Interestingly, this bug does not appear on
my netbook, just my desktop. But, the bug maintains across reinstalls.
I even just had to reinstall from scratch due to a PSU failure and HDD
corruption and the same problem behavior exists. But, the netbook has
never had the problem. Both are running Ubuntu 11.04 x86_64 with almost
exactly the same configurations. The desktop does have more Compiz
plugins enabled, though. Given the other bugs related to Compiz
settings, I wonder if this is related to a Compiz plugin? I may need to
see if disabling any of the Compiz plugins resolves it.

[Bug 778195] Re: mozplugger/firefox does not open documents/apps within browser

2011-06-11 Thread Brad Jolly
I have a configuration file that generated as /etc/mozpluggerrc. At
first, I thought configuration was the issue, but the lines all seemed
correct. I have found that this behavior is not constant across all
systems -- I have a netbook with Ubuntu 64-bit where mozplugger seems to
be working fine. But, 2 other systems where I can't get it to open
within Firefox, but just get a related tab and an new window.

[Bug 784500] [NEW] ALC269VB on Asus EeePC 1015PN, No sound from speakers, but sound from headphones

2011-05-18 Thread Brad Jolly
Public bug reported:

Sound from speakers has stopped working on Asus EeePC 1015PN , but sound
from headphones still works. Sound worked fine during initial install,
but has stopped working. It may be related to a BIOS update (possible
BIOS mis-reporting pins or jacks or driver not getting information
correctly?) Unfortunately, BIOS cannot be downgraded to confirm -- all
ASUS BIOS software refuses to flash to older BIOS (no force option).

Currently using 11.04 with all updates installed, but problem appears to exist
in 10.10 as well
alsa-base version is 1.0.24+dfsg-0ubuntu1

These are the troubleshooting steps I've tried with no effect:
- check levels in alsamixer (all at 100% except mic boost, shows in
alsa-info as 100% as well)
- booting from LiveUSB, problem is there, too (did not used to be)
- booting from 10.10 LiveUSB, problem is there, too (did not used to be)
- installed linux-alsa-driver-modules-2.6.38-8-generic
- sudo modprobe snd-hda-intel
- adding options snd-hda-intel model=asus to alsa-base.conf
Internal microphone works
Speakers work in Windows

lspci shows both audio cards correctly (the Intel one is what stopped working):
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation N10/ICH 7 Family High Definition Audio
Controller (rev 02)
04:00.1 Audio device: nVidia Corporation High Definition Audio Controller (rev
a1)

alsa-info available here: http://www.alsa-

[Bug 784500] Re: ALC269VB on Asus EeePC 1015PN, No sound from speakers, but sound from headphones

2011-05-18 Thread Brad Jolly
Forgot to mention, checked Bug #697498 and noted people reported
resuming from suspend brings sound back. I did suspend and resume as
mentioned there. After resume, sound does comes out of speakers, but
then headphones don't work. So, it just reverses the problem.

I also tried disabling audio in BIOS, booting into Ubuntu (intel audio
was gone from sound preferences), re-enabled audio in BIOS and rebooted,
but it had no effect.

[Bug 778195] [NEW] mozplugger/firefox does not open documents/apps within browser

2011-05-05 Thread Brad Jolly
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mozplugger

Expected behavior:
PDF, DOC, and ODF files embedded in web pages should open within and fill the
browser window.

What happened instead:
Documents embedded in web pages open outside the browser, but remain connected
to the browser window such that closing the browser tab or window, closes the
application even though it's outside the browser window.

Regardless of the document type, mozplugger/Firefox opens all file types
outside the browser instead of inside a browser tab. When trying to
open a pdf, doc, odf, etc., the application called opens outside Firefox
instead of within Firefox. Firefox leaves a blank tab and the pdf, doc,
odf, etc. file opens as a new window. Yet, the application instance
remains connected to Firefox. If you close the blank tab, it closes the
application instance even though it's outside the browser. Perhaps it's
an issue with the fill call in mozpluggerrc?

This is in a clean install of Ubuntu 11.04. In fact, the problem has
persisted through at least two clean installs of Natty. Clean Firefox
profiles with no extensions or other modifications from default do not
correct the behavior. The behavior was fine in 10.10 and other previous
versions of Ubuntu. I've attached a screen shot showing a PDF file
opened from a browser link designed to send the PDF inline, but opening
evince outside Firefox.

Steps to reproduce:
Open a pdf, doc, or odf file from a link in a web page in Firefox with
mozplugger installed.

[Bug 643163] Re: package fglrx 2:8.723.1-0ubuntu4 failed to install/upgrade: fglrx kernel module failed to build

2010-09-19 Thread Brad Jolly
After some testing, the problem seems to be related to kernel 2.6.32-24.

After a clean install from the lucid iso, I installed the fglrx driver
through Hardware Drivers and it installed fine, everything working after
reboot. Then, without installing any other updates, I installed linux-
headers-2.6.32-23, linux-headers-2.6.32-23, and linux-
image-2.6.32-23-generic. The fglrx driver continued to work fine. I
then installed linux-headers-2.6.32-24, linux-headers-2.6.32-24-generic,
and linux-image-2.6.32-24. After reboot, the fglrx error occurred
(error reported by Ubuntu, could not enter administrative Catalyst
Control Center, user Catalyst Control Center has most options disabled).
