Dear Christopher, After my last comment I updated the system by running apt-get update apt-get upgrade. After that, the NVIDIA card stopped working, but was still recognized. So, I wswitched to the nouveau driver and ran purge nvidia* in order to clean install the latest nvidia driver. Hi Joseph, I tried almost every source of drivers. I believe the problem is, that in no way Ubuntu can detect the NVidia GPU.
