[Bug 1668148] Re: Booting installer in EFI mode with existing bios mode hd crashes
Re comment 23, Thank you Steve. Yes, from what you say of changes made i agree the problem this end will be solved. So i will have another go at installing 18.04 but will wait till 18.04.1 And i will have a go at UEFI boot and to enrol the broadcom-sta-dkms module that you say is possible. A new learning curve for me! [Bug 1668148] Re: Booting installer in EFI mode with existing bios mode hd crashes
I have this problem to and my setup is a bit different and i do not see a similar setup mentioned here. My disc is GPT partitioned, UEFI is disabled and i boot/install in BIOS mode but Ubuntu (Lubuntu) is the only OS installed. That is because off a BCM4312 wireless chip which i need compile a module for, no binary available. Short off getting that compiled driver signed i must disable UEFI and use BIOS mode. Disc is partitioned; / , swap , /home , no bios-grub or EFI partition. Four attempts to install 18.04 all failed. Problem as noted above. Installed 16.04 no problem other than install media does boot as UEFI and the messages 16.04 installer gives are a bit succinct! but going back one stage does fix and install works good. During the 18.04 install attempts NO warning messages received. [Bug 438150] Re: [karmic] Network-manager fails to reconnect to 3G network
I would like to confirm bug exactly as first posted. Affecting Lubuntu 10.10 AND now 11.04. nm-applet will connect my Huawei E1750 modem on the UK 3 3g network. I live on a boat on the UK inland waterways and am mobile. If i suffer a dissconnection due to a weak signal nm-applet will not reconnect if i regain the signal and it always reports disconnected Kill all nm-applet and disconnecting the modem then AFTER a few moments restarting nm-applet and replugging the modem in and it will reconnect if signal strenght is good. [Bug 459054] Re: ubiquity partition step does not show some hard drives
Same here. Ubiquity during manual partitioning master hard drive is not seen at all and slave hard disc is referenced as sda. Installing anyway and the system will not boot, grub comes up with error 15. I rebooted into Karmic live CD and then Hardy live CD and ran cfdisk and gparted from both. None of the 4 are showing the master hard disc and all reference the slave as sda. I had been wanting to try Karmic and installed to spare hard discs. I have reverted to my normal single hard disc with Hardy and cannot test further. Any chance of also being able to configure the gnome panel clock, calendar and weather applet as follows; On a separate movable window that will be shown on the desktop by default when just booted up,but under other windows if any other window opened. Public bug reported: Cycling through minimise,un-maximise and maximise buttons the metacity window falls short of the available screen depth.Dragging the window to increase depth has no permanent affect either. Unable to submit crash report there isn't one. Reinstalled GDM which fixed problem here until reboot when it returns, still get 'CRITICAL: Error...' if sudo gdmsetup run from terminal.
