[Bug 1420988] Re: no audio input from combo jack on ALC283 (Acer Aspire V15 Nitro Black Edition)

2019-11-16 Thread Chuck Ritola
The workaround proposed in comment 4 ended up fixing my issue with an
Intel NUC front connector jack.

[Bug 1257108] Re: gtkam segmentation fault

2014-04-09 Thread Chuck Ritola
This suddenly started happening recently after years of ok function.
Segfaults immediately before spawning a window.

Segfaults regardless of whether there is a camera plugged in or not.

Deleting .gphoto did not resolve.

Full remove/reinstall did not resolve.

Run as root did not resolve.

I am still able to use gphoto2 from CLI.

Because the last working use was weeks ago, I cannot isolate what changed. Here
are known aspects which stayed the same or changed:
Version stayed Ubuntu 13.10
No change in hard drives or directories.
Did add realtime permissions for my user.
Camera brand and configuration remained the same.
Motherboard, USB cable, processor remained the same.

[Bug 900384] Re: usbipd requires usbip_common_mod.ko and usbip.ko kernel modules, which are not available in any package

As a temporary workaround I was able to install a .deb from the Debian
repos which apparently installs the .ko files and the updated userspace
binaries. It throws no errors when running but its behavior is not
correct (probably best left for another bug report)

[Bug 900384] Re: usbipd requires usbip_common_mod.ko and usbip.ko kernel modules, which are not available in any package

2013-06-12 Thread Chuck Ritola
Has there been further development in fixing this? In 13.04 the issue
appears to still be unresolved. Is there some barrier keeping the newest
usbip from being available downstream?

[Bug 786119] [NEW] Unreliable copy/paste functionality in Eclipse after upgrading to 11.04

2011-05-21 Thread Chuck Ritola
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: eclipse

Copy/paste functionality using keyboard shortcuts in Eclipse became very
unreliable after upgrading from xubuntu 10.10 to 11.04. No noticeable
pattern: Could copy/paste the exact same way over and over and get hit-
and-miss results. Using mouse menus for copy/paste appears to work fine.

When copying using keyboard shortcut in eclipse, xfce4-settings-helper throws:
(xfce4-settings-helper:3137): Gtk-CRITICAL **: IA__gtk_clipboard_set_with_data:
assertion `targets != NULL' failed

...this does not occur when copying from within eclipse's Edit menu,
only with Ctrl+c.

A workaround is to disable (or kill) the xfce4-settings-helper process,
at the expense of the services it provides. After this process is
disabled, the copy/paste functionality is flawless.

[Bug 564415] [NEW] maxima ignores assume() preceding integration

2010-04-15 Thread Chuck Ritola
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: maxima

Consider the following:

(%i1) assume(((y1-y0+x1-x0)*(V+U-y1-x1))  0);
integrate(1/( (x0+t*(x1-x0)-U) + (y0+t*(y1-y0)-V)),t,0,1);
(%o1) [(y1-y0+x1-x0)*(V+U-y1-x1)0]
Is (y1-y0+x1-x0)*(V+U-y1-x1) positive, negative, or zero?

Although the assume() command states that the ambiguous expression is
more than zero, integrate() still asks if it is positive, negative, or
zero. Expected behavior is acceptance of the assume() line to address
the ambiguity encountered in integrate().

Bug or feature? Can anyone else reproduce this?

Ubuntu 9.10
Amd64
maxima ver. 5.17.1 Karmic

I am using the sysctl.conf kernel.randomize_va_space = 1 workaround
which fixed a lot of previous issues but does not appear to fix this.

[Bug 428306] Re: default search engines are removed and readded (keywords wiped) with upgrade

2010-01-08 Thread Chuck Ritola
I confirm this with update to:
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.1.7) Gecko/20100106
Ubuntu/9.10 (karmic) Firefox/3.5.7

Some previous updates did the same thing, roughly 3 times. Search engine
list and ordering gets reset to default.

[Bug 162253] Re: openssh: want hpn-ssh for 20x speed improvement!

2009-12-24 Thread Chuck Ritola
Jeremy: I've had success getting HPN-SSH patch to apply to openSSH.org's
source downloaded into 9.10 and installing. Perhaps you make a package
from those sources? Note: I found it critical to use the right HPN patch
for the right SSH version. Also, the openssh.org soruce install will
install the binaries to slightly different locations than the ubuntu
package.

[Bug 498470] [NEW] gnome-sound-recorder vu is inactive when not recording

2009-12-19 Thread Chuck Ritola
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-media

What is happening: VU meter in gnome-sound-recorder only works when
recording/playing. To verify that I am getting a signal into the program
I need to perform a test recording rather than just be able to see the
VU meter registering before recording.

What is expected: VU meter to work at all times to show that the
recorder is getting signal before hitting record.

###INFO DUMPAGE BELOW###

Description:Ubuntu 9.10
Release:9.10

[Bug 421122] [NEW] listing order is lost when package marking status is changed

2009-08-29 Thread Chuck Ritola
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: synaptic

regards:
The main package listing, where results from quicksearch are shown, etc.

what was expected to happen:
When the listing order options are clicked, such as Package Installed
Version Latest Version [etc] the listing orders/preferences are retained
indefinitely.

what happened instead:
When the listing order options are clicked, such as Package Installed
Version Latest Version [etc] the listing order is lost once the status of a
package is changed when right-clicking the status box. (ex: Mark for
installation) This results in having to repeatedly reset the listing orders and
scrolling around for what could be several packages.

to recreate:
run synaptic
in Quick Search, type 'headers'
click on the Installed Version column marker, it should get a black triangle
indicating it is ordering by version
search results should be listed in order of version
change the status of one of the listed packages, for example Mark for
reinstallation
results refresh, note that Installed Version column marker has lost its black
triangle and ordering has been lost.

ProblemType: Bug
Architecture: amd64

2009-07-06 Thread Chuck Ritola
Came across the following issue:

ran:
