Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kdm System: Description:Ubuntu 8.10 Release:8.10 graphic card: nvidia geforce 8400gs kdm-version: 4:4.1.2-0ubuntu13 What I expect: After logging out the login screen should appear so I can log in again What happens insted: X Server hangs and displays blinking ASCII characters (see attached image) How to reproduce: 1. [Bug 133712] Re: [Gutsy] Rhythmbox crashes X-Server
I have no time to debug these things and I don't use Linux as my main operating system (I just use it from time to time only to see that it is still so backwarded and full of bugs that it is not usable for people who just want to do their stuff) so I don't care at all about that bug. Why do you guys ask for bug reports if you don't care? That'll be my last bug report I make for an ubuntu distribution since nobody seems to care and just wants me to do the work to fix the bug. [Bug 119467] Re: make non-essential packages Recommends and not Depends
If peaple deinstall a default application they choose not to use the kubuntu-desktop default package selection so kubuntu-desktop is removed. If new packages are added in a new release they will not get them by default because they choose not to use the default package selection. They can however install them manually, so where is the problem? You have to decide between default package selection and customized package selection you can't have both. aptitude installs recommended packages by default apt doesn't. -- make non-essential packages Recommends and not Depends https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/119467 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Team, which is a bug contact for kubuntu-meta in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
[Bug 119467] Re: make non-essential packages Recommends and not Depends
I don't understand the problem. kubuntu-desktop is just a meta package so if you deinstall one of it's dependencies you don't have installed the kubuntu-desktop meta package anymore so it will be removed. (and only kubuntu-desktop package not its other dependencies) And no apt does not install recommends by default. [Bug 77001] Re: 6.10: KDE Mouse Gestures don't work
Hi, well the problem is that I could not reproduce this bug again. It only happened once on my computer. I think it was more my fault because I had done some updates and did not restart kde so most probable this was the reason for that behavior. But if you are still interested in activating mouse gestures you have to go to system settings -> Accessibility -> Hot Keys (only have the german version so maybe the names vary) and in the general Option Tab you will find a check box which by default deactivates the mouse gestures. [Bug 78985] Make totem-xine the default for totem
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: totem Hi, I feel that totem-xine is better for video playback than totem- gstreamer. I recently tried to playback a Video DVD. I installed every required package and I was able to playback the movie but I could neither select my audio language (just stopped to play any sound) nor got any menus. After pausing and resuming playback was very slow and I had to completely stop and play it from the beginning... Also totem-gstreamer doesn't work very goot with w32codecs (I know it is not included in the distribution...). After I had installed totem-xine all worked perfecty (DVDs with menus and language selection, w32codecs and so on).
