[Bug 703451] Re: Resize grips are covering scrollbar button on Chromium

2011-01-19 Thread Cody Russell
Also, will it break on older dists? lucid? hardy? (i auto-backport
everything down to hardy by default)

@Fabien: Yes, if possible this really needs to be a distro-patch for
now. The resize grip feature has landed upstream in GTK+ 3.0, but I
backported it to 2.x for Natty. It's not possible to backport it to
older distros at this point though.

[Bug 683084] Re: Global menu doesn't work well with more than one screen

2010-12-08 Thread Cody Russell
I've attached a branch which is pretty much a quick hack. It's hard-
coded to check if the window is above/below 200px on the screen, which
is wrong but it gives you something to work from.

[Bug 683084] Re: Global menu doesn't work well with more than one screen

2010-12-08 Thread Cody Russell
Yes, it updates dynamically.. kind of.

I have my WM set to resize opaquely, not using an outline or something,
so when I resize my window then the application actually receives
configure events and repaints the window. In this situation, if I raise
or lower the top edge of the window then the local menubar will appear
or disappear.

If you're doing something that the WM has control of, this isn't quite
the case. If you grab the titlebar of a window and start dragging it
around, the client application never receives a configure event until
you release the mouse. So if you drag your window above or below the
threshold you won't see immediate visual feedback until you release your
mouse.

[Bug 606470] Re: Monodevelop doesn't show its menu in the panel

2010-10-06 Thread Cody Russell
Hi Dario,

No, I am not working on this bug really.. because appmenu is mostly
targeted towards netbook UI, monodevelop isn't a high priority for me to
fix right now.

I guess what needs to be figured out is to what extent they're still
using gtk menu infrastructure and how much they're building on top of
it. If too much of the data is kept at the managed layer, there's
nothing we can do without modifying monodevelop. Once I find some more
time (after higher priority bugs are fixed) then I can try taking a look
at what information I can introspect from them on our side.

/ Cody

[Bug 621536] Re: nautilus crashed with SIGSEGV in g_object_set()

2010-09-20 Thread Cody Russell
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 609390 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/609390

That apport report contains the following GTK+ packages:

libgtk2.0-common: installed version 2.21.6-1ubuntu1, latest version:
2.21.7-1ubuntu1

This bug looks like a duplicate of bug #609390 as Pedro said, and that
was fixed. From the changelog:

gtk+2.0 (2.21.6-1ubuntu2) maverick; urgency=low

  * debian/patches/043_ubuntu_menu_proxy.patch:
- update by Cody Russell to fix a crash issue (lp: #609390)

I'm going to close this bug.

[Bug 614964] Re: Missing menus in Midori

2010-09-14 Thread Cody Russell
I'm surprised you're seeing as many menus as you are. I'm seeing: File
Edit View Go Help Dummy.

I'm missing Bookmarks, Tools, and Window menuitems. And yes, I'm seeing
Dummy as a menuitem I probably shouldn't be seeing, although that gives
me access to all the menuitems that should be under Bookmarks, Tools,
and Window.

Midori is doing some unusual things that other apps aren't doing. The
way it's building its dynamic menus is something that appmenu-gtk isn't
able to catch right now. Since Midori is not the default browser for
Ubuntu Netbook Edition, I'm afraid the priority for fixing this is
extremely low.

[Bug 538493] Re: When dragging slider, other menu items can mistakenly be activated on mouseup

2010-09-08 Thread Cody Russell
This is actually in libido, not in indicator-sound. It's also probably
not going to be an obvious one to fix. The problem is that we do some
rather janky things in libido to work around the gtk grab system. The
slider widget adds a grab when you mouse-down on the slider, but this
also forces the menu to close which is why we work around it.

We can look into adding more janky solutions, like trying to see if it's
possible to stop the button release event on other menuitems in the
menu.

Another solution might be to create a GtkMenu derivative which doesn't
close when a grab is added. I don't know off the top of my head what
other side-effects we may have from this though. It could turn out to
be more gross going that direction.

2010-07-31 Thread Cody Russell
mpt, can you comment on this? The code is ready, but I'd like to get
design approval before I merge this in. The SessionMenu wiki page still
says it should read Restart Required...

[Bug 508890] Re: Nautilus crashes when there are multiple XScreens

2010-07-27 Thread Cody Russell
So we're going to re-enable RGBA in the testing PPA, for anyone who has
that configured. I've added some error handling that improves the
stability for most apps I've tested, but I don't currently have two
monitors to test this bug for. Can anyone help me figure out if we're
still having issues with this one?

[Bug 610121] Re: xsplash not displayed properly on first boot

xsplash is not being used on any edition of Meerkat.
